Hungry Feeling Causes Pain?

Ok I generally don't go without snacking due to my hypoglycemia. But this morning I was in a rush to get my DH to the doctor and I didn't have my snack. I went from 7:00 till 12:30 without eating. My bloodsugar did fine, but my tummy started aching really bad. And now, even though I have eaten, it is still causing me major pains. (comparable to when I have gluten)

Does this happen to anyone else? I mean, if the stomach is empty, why the pain?

Monica

Could it be the acid in your stomach wanting something to attack? ;) I get GERD (the causes I'm sure now being celiac disease and other intolerances) and often if when I get hungry, I get a really sore gnawing pain in my stomach. I'm guessing that as you usually snack well, it won't happen again.

Gosh I don't know what it is. I got pains and horrible gas (both ways :o )

I have definitly noticed a STRONG link between having an empty stomach and celiac symptoms. My stomach hurts when it gets too empty and then I eat, and it hurts even worse. My guess, though this is just a guess, about what happens to me sometimes is that when I have an empty stomach, if I get some cross contamination (and I eat in a college dining hall, so I am very exposed) it just effects me MUCH MORE than usual...

Other than this, I don't really understand, but I DEFINITLY experience something similar So I really try not to miss meals.

does this ring any bells?

I have something similar, I think. I'll not be sure if something is bothering me or whether it's just extreme hunger. It's like my hunger signals are messed up. And I'll feel really awful, and not know whether or not to eat, whether that will make me feel worse or better. And sometimes I feel kind of sick and don't really feel like eating anyway, though I know I should. Strange.

I get uncomfortable if I don't have something after about 3 hours. Much longer than that, I begin to feel a little queasy, with some painful stomach gurgling.

I always attributed it to the hypoglycemia, unless I've had a glass-in-the-stomach pain attack, then I blame that.

That is EXACTLY what happens to me! I mean EXACTLY! It isn't my hypoglyecmia, that cause me to get the shakes, sweaty and uncontrolable. This is horrible GAS TYPE pain to my stomach and same as you, when I initially eat, it gets much worse!

I am glad it is NOT just me!

Your response on this matter is what I expect. You’ve had a similar episode years ago, but this one is lasting longer!

I'd like to clarify: Is the pain you describe in the area just below your chest constant, or does it only appear when you start moving?
