I Thought I'd Give An Update

Hello everyone!

It's been awhile since I posted something , so I just wanted to inform everyone that I have gained quite a bit of weight back. I am now up to roughly 140 pounds. My pants actually fit me again. I want to thank you all for your kind words and support when I needed it. I still have the occasional reflux but I have started to watch my intake of coffee, bread and chocolate to regulate my symptoms better.

In all honesty, I believe only about a handful of people on this site have true Celiac Disease. I was almost positive I had it...but stress is an amazing condition. I am still taking my meds and I hope to ween off of that next.

These are very stressful times we live in. I really started to pay more attention to that as well.

Anyway, I feel much better and I'm not worrying about what I eat so much.

I did some volunteer work down in Biloxi, MS and it was life-changing for me. :)

Take care everyone!

E.

clarify what you mean by "only a handful of people have true Celiac Disease"

I would have to seriously disagree with that statement.

However, I'm glad you are feeling better. Did you have a dx of Celiac or what? Just curious. I'm half asleep and can't get my head to come up with the words I want to use.

I was wondering how you were making out. So glad that everything is working out and you're gaining weight! I wasn't going to say anything, but since Nini did, I also wondered why you said that about 'only a handful of us', too. While it's great that you found your answers, that dosen't mean that we're all 'barking up the wrong tree'!

hi, i want to say thank you to you and @trents   . after 2 phone calls to my GI, her office called me back to tell me that a blood test was “unnecessary” and that we should “follow the gold standard” and since my biopsy did not indicate celiac, to follow the no dairy and sucraid diet. i luckily have expendable income and made an appt for the labcorp blood test that day. i just got my results back and it indicates celiac disease i think 😭   im honestly happy bc now i KNOW and i can go gluten free. and i am SO MAD at this doctor for dismissing me for a simple blood test that wouldn’t have cost her anything !!!!!!!!!!! im sorry, im so emotional right now, i have been sick my whole life and never knew why, i feel so much better already   my results from labcorp:   Celiac Ab tTG TIgA w/Rflx Test Current Result and Flag Previous Result and Date Units Reference Interval t-Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA 01 28 High U/mL 0-3 Negative 0 - 3 Weak Positive 4 - 10 Positive >10 Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) has been identified as the endomysial antigen. Studies have demonstrated that endomysial IgA antibodies have over 99% specificity for gluten sensitive enteropathy. Immunoglobulin A, Qn, Serum 01 245 mg/dL 87-352

      Thank you this really helped.

Okay that is really good to know. So with that being positive and the other being high it makes sense she diagnosed her even without the endoscopy. So glad we caught it early. She had so many symptoms though that to me it was clear something was wrong.   yeah I think we had better test us and the other kids as well.

One doctor suggested it, but then seemed irritated when I asked follow-up questions. Oh well—

@GlorietaKaro, your respiratory reactions to gluten make me wonder if there might also be an allergic (anaphylaxis) component at work here.
