Ttg iga recent positive

Just got my blood test results back and my result is a 29 (ref range >7)

I’ll have to make a follow up appointment with my doc on Monday. I was supposed to be casually ruling out celiac, but I guess instead we are ruling it in 😅

I keep seeing references to “weak positive” “strong positive” and “high positive”. What is considered a strong or high positive?

You did not say which specific antibody test was done. tTG-IGA? Only the lab who did the analysis can answer your question for certain as different labs use different reference ranges for those rating categories but my guess would be a weak positive. Don't begin a gluten free diet yet as your physician may want to arrange for an endoscopy with biopsy to confirm the diagnosis.

Personally I don't believe in any "weak positive" results...they are either positive or not, and even those they deem negative, which may fall just below the cut off line, are still suspect, and many people who have elevated antibody levels just below the cut off line should not be eating gluten, as it is clearly causing an abnormal autoimmune response in them.

With a tTG test, normal people won't have elevated antibodies at all, and the test is very specific for celiac disease.

Your response on this matter is what I expect. You’ve had a similar episode years ago, but this one is lasting longer!

I'd like to clarify: Is the pain you describe in the area just below your chest constant, or does it only appear when you start moving?
