I have discovered that gluten was in the products used to make my dentures. What's a person to do? Is there an ingredient that can replace the MMA? I have not been well since I started wearing them. But I refuse to not wear my dentures.

Thanks for your input.

This would be a question for your dentist. There may be alternatives.

Have you found any solution?  I am in the same situation, I have Celiac, and after years of getting sicker I realized it was my dentures.  I have done exhaustive research, talked to my dentist who has also done extensive research, and asked numerous experts, but have found no other viable options.  I recently started going without my dentures and my symptoms have gradually decreasing and I am feeling better, but I really would like a solution as I am way too young to go out without teeth!

I don't know much about your situation, but is it possible you could go the implant route? I've heard that Medicare may cover the now, but am not sure.

Unfortunately implants are not an option for me, due to chronic health issues I was unable to get implants, so I had to opt for the dentures. (So grateful to be an 8 year pancreatic cancer survivor, but chemotherapy and complications from my Whipple surgery essentially deteriorated my teeth and my bone/ gum structure.)

I have not found any options for replacing my dentures. I wear them every day. But not feeling well. Always very tired is primary symptoms.

I may look into implants but that is very costly. And don't know if that's gluten free.

Welcome to the forum, @yellowstone! The most common ones seem to be dairy (casein), oats, eggs, soy and corn. "Formed" meat products (because of the "meat glue" used to hold their shape) is a problem for some. But it can be almost anything on an individual basis as your sensitivity to rice proves, since rice is uncommonly a "cross reactor" for celiacs. Some celiacs seem to not do well with any cereal grains.

What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.
