On a serious note--I am worried about the whole eye thing too. Had a visit Fri to the surgeon, I thought the lenses were clouding over or a detached retina, but he said the retina looked ok, but my vision is getting bad again after being pretty good right after the surgery. I broke out in hives from the drops to dilate, and he had me use the prednisone drops 4 times Fri night and keep up 2 times a day and wants me to come back next Fri. The whole thing is upsetting me so much. I knew I couldn't see as well again and when the tech had me read the chart I couldn't believe it. I asked her if I could read the lines before and she said yes, and I couldn't help it, I just started tearing up and crying. I didn't bluther, but I was shocked. Enough whining-----(sorry) Cissy, I have been to so many drs. over this, I don't know who to turn to next. The dr.

Robbin,

I missed this in my "skimming" last night. Kept seeing posts referring to your eyes so had to back into the depths of the thread to find what I'd missed. I'm sorry to hear that your vision isnt what it was after the surgery. I hope the doctors can do something to help....you are definately not "whining". It would be upsetting and frusterating for anyone and we can all feel comfortable to share those feelings here in Racheville. ;)

Is presindency a word??

RELEVATION:

I think I know why the word looked "wrong" to me last night. It is wrong! I think its mispelled....presidency....is that right?? Does that make it a word?? I was kind of out of it last night....very very sleepy.

I think I will keep "presindency" as an official R-ville word. ;)

I actually thought about Megan this morning as soon as I woke up. Last night, I told my husband all about her and what they have been going thru. The surgery will, no doubt, take several hours--is that right Vncent?

I would assume so, but I did not ask. I realy did not want to focus on that part when I was talking to her, I was more concerned that she know about the love fo ppl here for her.

Megan is on all of our minds this morning. I have been praying for her and her wonderful mom, Tanya this morning. I hope you all check out her website-there is a link on the Megan's gagging isn't getting better thread. The pictures of her on there are so adorable. I echo Vincent in asking everyone to pray for her and to pray for the drs. and the whole family and that they can get a room at the Ronald McD house.

Thank you all as well for the kind words and prayers for the eye problem for me. I am trusting this dr. and hoping for improvement. Our community knows how to support each other even amidst the light-hearted fun and stress-lifting goofiness of our discussions of geese, dingos, spiders, etc. :) . We NEED to have this fun thread to relieve some of the stress of the day to day struggles of life. :) It is a protective place to rest, our "Rachelville".

Ah, Jeny, you're a Southern Girl with some German in your blood. We're probably kin. I know exactly what a "heinie" is!:lol::lol:

Cissie

Amen! :P:P:P But I keep my house at 77-78 F, so when I come to visit you in Rachelville I'll wear my wool underwear!

Cissie

You're partly right on that one, Sis. I am 3/4 Irish and 1/4 German.

Lisa,

I already suggested you as Mayor! As for me, I can be the marriage counsellor (I'll always have a drawer full of Altoids for my clients......) We will all be happy campers in R-Ville!

Hugs.

Karen

:lol::lol::lol:

Yeah, absolutely NO SPIDERS or I'm leaving! We should have bats to control the bad bug population. Bat's love to eat spiders :)

I got bitten by a spider on the face when I was little. Looked like I had been punched in the eye. My mom was afraid to take me to the dr. thinking they'd call her in, but luckily, there were fang marks. :)

All I remember is not being able to open my eye and getting a very painful shot in the butt.

OUCH!!!!

Penguin - BATS???? :o did you forget my bat terror psychosis/hallucination at the cabin in Big Sur, mentioned in another thread - - scarred for life - - - only if they are far away and cannot get in my hair....or come near me.....

I disagree with Cissie, here. We've got to have bats! They'll be hair-hating bats and will help pollenate our crops. Um, let's make them purple and glittery, just for a little flair!! They will also never go within 100 feet of Susan. Somebody's got to help the overtaxed geese and dingos

Susan, be like batman! Remember why he chose a bat? Because he was afraid of bats!

Well, Jeny, I guess I'm about 80% Celtic, 15% English, 5% German. It was all so long ago, even the German part; they didn't come over until 1750. Important to note: They ALL settled in the SOUTH!!!!!

Praying for Megan.

Christine, chin up, I agree with Vincent. Go out with you girlfriends, have a good time and forget about the idiot.

To all no time to really catch-up too much work, see everyone in a day or so.

There will be NOOO spiders in Rachelville!!! I think we are all in agreement as far as that goes. ;)

Oh...and if one happens to slip past the geese and dingos...we will send Donna to "relocate" the critter. Ummmm...yes, remember to be delicate with them Donna.

You can count on me! I AM in charge of security after all--I think that could fall somewhere under my authority.

Yes, and I can help relocate any that choose to attack hair, lol. My sister lives up near Yosemite out in the country...one of the times I stayed with her, she said "do you want to help me get rid of a bat?" I'm thinking "Okay, I've never seen one, but I'm game". So out we went to "get rid of the bat". It was under the eaves of her second story roof, which from where we were standing was probably about 3 stories up. The only way we could reach it was by water hose. We got the bat to leave but we were drenched by the end of it. Thinking about it now, I'm not sure why it was so important to get rid of the thing...they have tons of mosquitos up there and bats eat mosquitos.

Vincent, my prayers are with you, Megan and Tanya

Mine too! Thanks for the website link Vincent!

YAY, Andrea is back!!!! Missed you!

Okay Rachelvillans, if you don't see me posting much it is because I can probably only post at work until our heatwave ends. When I got home last night we had another brown out, but it might as well have been completely out because there was BARELY any juice. It was out for 5 hours. My mom and aunt have been without power for most of the weekend. I actually unplugged my computer altogether before I left for work yesterday. They're saying that today is also going to be a high power consumption day, so not sure what I'll go home to.

Purple, glittery bats with hair avoidance....yes, I can handle those! :)

No time to write...but thinking of you all and sending love. Big Armenian Funeral this morning....on the hottest day of the year (outdoor burial as well)...will spend time with and love my five nieces and family today. Check in tonight. Needed my daily dose of silliness, information adn news, and the comfort we all find here. We are blessed here wtih such a brilliant combination of support, information (science!), humour and silliness....fun and love. Great place you founded, Rachel!

My focus is on family today but you'll all be in the back of my mind and heart....Vincent, do keep us updated on Megan. I haven't had time to check that site yet.

Blessings to all!

p.s. donna - where do you live, and where near Yosemite does your sister live? Used to go to Yosemite every other weekend, at least....*sigh*

Last Update (already posted this to Megans thread)

TUESDAY, JULY 25, 2006 08:10 AM, CDT

Just heard from Tanya, they have just taken Megan back. They had given her some medicine to make her loopy, and she was. Tanya said that they would let them know something in 1 hour - 1.5 hours after they got the IV's in; at this point they would start the procedure. It should take around 5-6 hours. I will post every time I get an update.

Will be keeping you and your family in prayer as well! I live in Campbell and my sister lives near Mariposa...about 30 miles away from Yosemite. I don't get up there much...did I mention I was lazy. :P

MEGAN UPDATE!

TUESDAY, JULY 25, 2006 09:59 AM, CDT

Tanya just called and said that they made the incision about 10 minutes ago. It took them a while to get the IV's started because of veins. But they did say that she went to sleep very peacefully. They are going to give them updates in another 1-2 hours

Thanks Vincent!

Oh, and I forgot to post in my reply above that I want to help Sally in her bum duties!

MEGAN UPDATE !!

TUESDAY, JULY 25, 2006 11:34 AM, CDT

Just got another call from Tanya. She said she talked to one of the nurses. The nurse said that everything was going just wonderful right now. It was one of the smoothest surgeries that they had seen. They planned on taking their time so it would be another 3-4 hours before they were done.

WOOHOO!!!!!

...well I suppose them(purple glittery-loving that ) hair hating bats will keep me busy in R-villes salon.

Apart from Miss Susan (can't recall what your official post is in R-ville is) who will have a protective aura around her damn fine tresses, making her excempt from the bat-hair-mess thingy-going on with all the other residents :D .

Now,did someone ask me about jojoba oil, frizz and leave in conditioner about 10 pages ago?

I suppose jojoba oil could work just as well as coconut oil or frizz ease (i'm not familiar with it)but ladies please use sparingly.Only on mid lengths and ends.

Repeat after me-'mid lengths and ends only' (else you end up looking greasy).

I actually have the dryest, curliest ,frizziest hair ever and I must admit-in this heat I'm struggling to contain it!It keeps growing bigger and bigger  (big hair-not a good look)

I don't bother with 'leave in' conditioners.

I've been putting just normal conditioner on them 'mid lengths and ends' whilst wet and leaving it to dry. Then put a little oil on ends when dry.

Hair consultation over :D .

Thinking of wee Megan today.I can't work out the time differences but I think U.K is ahead of the states(?) so I'm hoping her op is all done now( it's around 6.02 pm here now).

Yes, I've been doing this too since my hairdresser told me...works very well. Usually only do it when I'm not going out for the day though, lol.

I have trouble with nausea. It often starts when I’m anxious about something (home repairs, sick dog) but continues long after the home is repaired or the dog is healthy again. When it happens I eat less and lose weight.  My gastroenterologist suggested ginger or peppermint tea. I don’t know if that will work or not because I haven't had the problem since she suggested it.
    • Colleen H
Hello  I'm not sure what to think . Seems no matter what I do I get sick. I had some yogurt with only 2 grams of sugar and is labeled gluten free ...the strawberry version seemed to really set me off My jaw is burning as well as my stomach and my feet.  Horrible pain..plus acid reflux and nausea... sensitivity to touch pain. ..yikes !! I don't know if it's from the lactose in the yogurt or if I'm getting an ulcer  This condition can make you question yourself quite a bit.  Then if you are not sure the anxiety comes 😞 Does any of these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? The neuropathy is quite intense.  What do you eat or drink after this happens  Open to suggestions  Thank you
    • sleuth
Of course my son is on a 100% gluten free diet.  I wish his symptoms were not debilitating as there are right now.  He cannot work, even when a miniscule of cross contamination occurs.  It's not just GI distress, but intense fatigue, brain fog, depression, anxiety, insomnia, etc.  It's literally neurological inflammation.  Not to be taken lightly here.  We have sought out many other possible ways to cope during this window of time (8 months!!!!)  without success.   AN-PEP does not help and seems like studies on this are not well researched.  So, we are trying this out because research shows some promising results.  And, all participants showed no cravings afterwards, no signs of addiction.  The patch is different than the oral route such as smoking, vaping, gum, pouch, etc.
    • Scott Adams
Have you tried AN-PEP enzymes, for example, GlutenX (who is a sponsor here)? A lot of research has shown that it can break down small amounts of gluten in the stomach, before it reaches the intestines. It might be a better approach than risking nicotine addiction, and the questionable research around this. I also hope that he’s trying to be 100% Gluten-Free.
    • Me,Sue
Hi all  I was diagnosed Coeliac a few years ago and follow a gluten free diet. The list of foods that I can eat without a problem grows shorter on a weekly basis. [I also have diabetes and asthma also].  BUT the reason I am posting this is because I seem to struggle with nausea quite a lot, which is really quite debilitating, and I was wondering if others suffer from nausea, even if following a gluten free diet.
