Carla is right

Sorry, don't hear that often so I had to highlight it!! ;):lol::lol:

Are you throwing down the gauntlet? :P

Umm, if I need to. It's a need that no one else has filled!!! You'd really be a taifun if you could do that!!

I'm sure Rinne bars will be a hit, too.

Bev, so glad the appt. went well. I want the details, sent you a PM.

As far as presidents, will they give their speeches with no shirt on? :P It's good to see that we're all as shallow as those men who want women with good bodies! Then we have Andrea wondering who all these people are. ;):D

Andrea--It's interesting--when you hit "reply" to your post, the list is more spread out and much easier to read.

Me too!

Except the email--I'll PM it to you :)

Nothing from Bev yet??? Shoot.... :P

I'll have to wait longer I suppose...

I'm not taking garlic yet...I AM trying to add fresh garlic to my dinner...but I'm cooking it, so I'm thinking it's not beneficial that way. I'm going to try the one you mentioned...sounds good.

Yeah...I'm really liking this one so far. Its the one that was mentioned alot in "The Yeast Syndrome"...I've taken it in capsules before but never could find the liquid extract until last night.

I'm putting the drops in warm water...it tastes really good. I LOVE garlic. :D

Did Dr. S suggest you take alpha lipoic acid? There has definately been no list of supplements that he's wanting me to take...just the whey protein and cats claw.

He's gonna be really impressed with all I'm taking now...in the past I havent been able to stay on anything...Its only been a few weeks now that I've been on the whey....( he gave it to me in October  ).

I bought the ALA on my own.....but then I read this...

Alpha lipoic acid should not be used alone, as it only mobilizes mercury with a weak bond. Without additional chelators present, such as DMPS or DMSA, the mercury may just redistribute elsewhere in the body instead of being removed.

I need to see what Dr. Amy says about it...I'll also ask Dr. S. in a few weeks.

I would consider coming to the states for treatment. The San Francisco Bay area has an appeal to me, I still have friends there from many years ago. :)

Yeah....and you have new friends here now too!!!

I didn't know you are supposed to hold it for 15 minutes ... I did for just a few, maybe 3? That was probably a good way to ease into it anyway and see how I react. Tomorrow I'll hold for longer. Had no trouble at all with a whole quart.

Rachel, does yours have a hard plastic tip? I read to use a soft tip, but mine is hard.

Carla...I dont force myself to hold it for any certain length of time. I just hold it as long as I can....sometimes its less than 5 minutes...other times longer than 15.

Yeah...mine is also a hard plastic tip. I havent had an uncomfortableness from it or anything.

I am blissfully ignoring all talk of coffee enemas.

:lol::lol:

We'll see how long you last......I think you'll get sucked in :P ....I agree with Carla....you know you wanna try it!!:lol:

Rachel--24 Collaborator
I totally get the withdrawal :( I went for two days without a rinne bar and then lost it yesterday and ate more than 5, I lose track after that many :o but I had a really good excuse.

Yeah....I ate 3 quarts ice cream.

I had a really good excuse too!! They were in the freezer and I needed more space for the veggies and meat. Plus its harder to be tempted when they arent staring at you every time you go in the fridge. So I ate them ALL. :D

Problem solved B)

I have wondered about a number of people on this board who are don't seem to recover with just the gluten free diet.

Yeah....there are alot here who continue to have problems.

Word of advice: Dont say too much about it outside this thread. ;)

Remember the heinosity of the thread we shall not speak of.

Let off steam? Can we let off steam?!

Let me just say it's much easier being a mother hen to you guys then to my children. (insert pulling hair out emoticon).

Yeah....you wanna add some words to your punching bag Andrea??? I ran out of space on mine several hundreds of pages ago.

In some ways I was fortunate because the consequences of eating anything risky for me were so awful I was self-disciplined by that.

Ummmm yeah....I know a thing or two about this too. :P

I dont know if I'd ever say I'm fortunate to be tortured by nearly all foods though.

Yeah....the consequences are too great. At least God provided me one flavor of ice cream to enjoy for 8 months while I blissfully ignored candida. :D

OMG....I wonder if you guys can even guess how many hundreds of pints were consumed during that time. Hot ice cream....it got me through the entire winter.

Just talked to mom a little while ago. Talitha was taking her turn talking to her and I guess grandma had brought up taking her and Micah to NW Trek and Talitha started talking about grandma giving her food that made her sick before.

I think that must have been awhile ago. When we've been up recently (all of us) it's been fine. Anyway, grandma got mad and hung up on Talitha. Talitha was in tears. :( She thinks she said something wrong. I told her that she's right in being concerned about getting sick and bringing up that she has gotten sick before wasn't necessarily wrong.

OMG--that is so sad...poor Talitha :(

Gee, she's just a child. Is your mom always like that?

Gee, she's just a child. Is your mom always like that?

Pretty much. She doesn't agree with our lifestyle, beliefs or anything so that may be part of it. Talitha is easy to hurt, just like my mom and I were. I've got a backbone with some things, others no. My mom was hurt when she was younger and built a wall of protection around herself. I really don't want Talitha to have to do that.

My mom should know how T operates since she is pretty much like the females on my mom's side of the family. Headstrong, opinionated, perfectionist........

I'm not so much a perfectionist anymore, for the most part. I've learned to respect others opinions.....I'm not sure about the headstrong......you'd have to ask my husband.

I'm wondering if my mom doesn't have some kind of metals problem. She had/has a lot of amalgams too. With me being second born I probably didn't get so much of that, but my brother and I are five years apart. She thinks we are out in left field with half this stuff anyway.

She told me that my brother was following (kinda?) my advice and feeling better. She said it's hard for him because he eats out all the time. I don't know what my mom thinks about this. I hope she takes it seriously. I think she sees it as a way for him to lose weight, which he does need, but I hope she realizes he can't eat ANY gluten.

It's sad when adults act like children and hurt children in the process. I just tell my kids that sometimes adults don't act like adults and to remember how much it hurt to ... in this case ... be hung up on so that they're sure they never do that.

Hmmm I'll answer to either. Not sure which acct I want to use. I suppose there's a certain cachet to a lower member #, but not so much to me.

I'd turned on the pc to check out food/symptom diary from aug/sep '05, when I was last feeling great. Mentally anyway. And ran into old links to threads here that I knew I'd posted in. Bingo! There I was.

Then again, I didn't need the name as much as guessing email/pw for that name. :)

Yeah I found a store here that sells enyma bags. You can use for douce, enymas and it's rubber. But they sold the last one today. SO now I have to wait till tomorrow to do the enymas. Did anyone feel the squirt come from their right side. Wouldn't all the toxins squirting from their cause badness for the small intestine? Just thinking about it makes me weak like jello. A squirt. Does the squirt hurt or feel funny? Just wondering before I do this tomorrow.

Rachel, you are too funny. I love the way you solve problems, you rachel them. :P:lol::lol::lol:

I venture out of Rachelville once in a while but I am generally careful about what I say, I'm sure I could be strung up for heresy if I suggested that many of those who have found their cure may find in a few years they have other problems. I think some will find they may have multiple diagnosis and treatments for a variety of ailments that in some cases I think may solely be attributed to Lyme. This is just an opinion.

.....

I think that must have been awhile ago. When we've been up recently (all of us) it's been fine. Anyway, grandma got mad and hung up on Talitha. Ouch, poor Talitha. :( How difficult to have a Grandmother who behaves like that.

I've been sitting here laughing, I love it when we hit our funny bones. I think laughter is an expression of wellness and that the more we laugh the more we help our bodies remember wellness.

Oh, I forgot to mention. I asked my mom about the rat bite and the possibility of lyme. She said they tested for that and I was clear.......with all I've learned is that supposed to make me feel better.

Thanks for the welcome, Patti. This place *is* wonderful, and I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't found it when I was diagnosed. I learn so much more from you all than my doctor(s).

And, Patti, that's what I'm afraid of, too--that's the tests for bacterial overgrowth is going to come back negative because all of my other tests have. It's kind of sad when you get to a point to *wanting* to be diagnosed with something!

That leads me to ask you all, what are your thoughts on IBS? My GI thinks I have it and celiac, but then again I was diagnosed with IBS about 7 years ago, well before my celiac diagnosis, which I now think was undiagnosed celiac. Do you all put any faith in a IBS diagnosis (because I kind of don't....)?

jmartes, Thank you for sharing  more information with us. Most of us Celiacs whose problems do not clear up with in a few years have to decide what to do next. We can keep seeing DR.s and hope that we will get some  medication or advice that will improve our health. Or we can go looking for other ways to improve our health. Usually Celiac Disease is not a killer disease, it is a disabling disease as  you have found out. You have time to find some ways to help you recover. Stay on your gluten-free diet and be more careful in avoiding cross contamination . KnittyKitty  and others here can give you advice about avoiding some foods that can give you the gluten auto immune reaction and advice about vitamins and supplement that help celiacs. You may need to take higher doses of Vit. B12  and D3.  About 20 years before a Dr. suggested I might have Celiac disease I had health problems that all other Dr said they could not identify or treat. I was very opposed to alternative providers and treatments. So many people were getting help from a local healer I decided to try that out. It was a little helpful but then, because I had a good education in medical laboraties she gave me a book  to read and what did I think. With great skeptism I started reading and before I was half way through it I began using the methods outlined in the book. Using those herbs and supplements I went from hardly able to work to being able to work almost fulltime. I still use that program. But because I had undiagnosed celiac disease by 10 years later some  of my problems returned and I started to loose weight.    So how does a person find a program that will benefit them? Among the programs you can find online there are many that are snake oil scams and some that will be beneficial. by asking around, as I did. Is there an ND in your area? Do they reccomend that person? If you would like to read about the program I use go to www.drclark.net

It's unfortunate that they won't work with you on this, but in the end sometimes we have to take charge of our own health--which is exactly what happened to me. I did finally get the tests done, but only after years of going down various rabbit holes and suffering. Just quitting gluten may be the best path for you at this point.

My doctor didn't take the time to listen to anything. I don't even think she knows what it means. She is more concerned about my blood pressure that is caused by her presence than anything else and just wants to push pills at me. The so-called dermatologist wouldn't do a skin test. she prescribed all of these silly antihistamine skin meds. This lady didn't even know what she was talking about and said "they never turn out as celiac, they usually just say it's dermatitis so here's your meds," just like my regular quack. I'm trying to change insurance companies at the moment and that has been a battle because of red tape, wrong turns, and workers having wrong phone numbers. What a joke! The allergy blood days say I have a wheat allergy of .31. Hopefully it's just that and until I find a decent doctor and dermatologist, I'll just lay off the wheat anyway, since it gives me asthma, high blood sugar, and joint pain. So frustrated at this point. The rash on my back of arms/elbows is mostly gone. Both calves and chest have started up. smh. It comes and goes. It fades faster now, though, although my forearms still produce one or two bumps on each side. The itching has calmed down a lot except for the bump area. I have dry skin to begin with so anything affecting it just makes it crazy. i'm never going to eat wheat again. I don't care if they need it to produce results or if it is just an intolerance, allergy, or celiac. It gives me hell.

I had the test done by one of the specialist through second pcp I had only a few months because he was saying I wasn't.Even though Im positive HLA-DQ2 .My celiac is down played.I am with new pcp, seeing another girl doctor who wants to do another breathe test next month though Im positive sibo this year.I have high blood pressure not sure if its pain from sciatica or sibo, ibs or hidden gluten. Im in disability limbo and I should have never been a bus driver because im still suffering and trying to heal with zero income except for my husband. This isnt fare that my health is dictating my living and having ti beg for being revalidation of my disregarded celiac disease. Its an emotional roller coaster I don't want to be on and the medical made it worse.New pcp new gi, exhausted, tired and really fed up. GI doctor NOT girl..
    • Mari
Hi Jmartes, It sure is difficult to get useful advice from medical providers. Almost 20 years  ago a Dr suggested that I might have Celiacs and I took a Celiac Panel blood test. No gluten challenge diet. On that test the tTG was in normal range but an alpha antibody was very high. I went online and read about celiac disease and saw how I could investigate this low tTG and still have celiac disease. Normal tTG can happen when a person had been reacting for many years. Another way is that the person has not been eating enough gluten to raise the antibody level. Another reason is that the tTG does not show up on a blood but may show up on a fecal test. Almost all Celiacs inherit at least one of the 2 main Celiac genes. I had genetic tests for the Celiac genes at Enterolab.com. I inherited one main Celiac gene from one parent and the report said that the DQ gene I inherited from my other parent, DQ6, could cause a person to have more problems or symptoms with that combination. One of my grandmother's had fairly typical symptoms of Celiacs but the other grandmother had severe food intolerances. I seem to show some problems inherited from both grandmothers. Human physiology is very complex and researchers are just beginning to understand how different body systems interact.  If you have taken an autosomal DNA test you can download your raw data file and upload it to Prometheuw.com for a small fee and search for Celiac Disease. If you don't find any Cekiac genes or information about Celiac disease  you may not have autoimmune gluten intolerance because more than 99% of Celiacs have one or both of these genes.  PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS IF YOU WANT TO KNOW EHAT i HAVE DONE TO HELP WITH SYMPTOMS.
