I think I will definitely call tomorrow

 Sounds like a sure thing!

I thought it was in the cheek (not the ones on your face  ) .

If you decided to give it there, be sure you have someone show you where. You don't want to hit the nerve. Basically, divide the cheek into four imaginary quadrants ... it goes in the upper quadrant on the outside of the body.

Thigh sounds easier.

Our man Tom is a hoot, we'd better keep him.

You two are both a hoot.

Tom, I think the additional question should be "Do you have a girlfriend?" You two seem to have a lot in common. :P

How old is he, late thirties ... same as you, Susan, right. ;););)

confession - - I have padded the OMG thread with nothing but goofiness. So sorry for the pages and pages you have all had to read......will compress. ;)

Don't! We like it this way!!!

Don't u dare!!

And I bet someone reversed something on the bone scan. ["What? We're supposed to get *all* of them perfect?"]

Um, just you watch, soon we will get busted and kicked into another 'hood. That is how R2 started.

maybe we can be silly on the Silly Yak thread? it's like a Seinfeld episode over there - we talk about NOTHING.

did you guys know how HEINOUSLY HEINOUS my doctor is (not my beloved GI)? that she looked at me during my "physical" (which lasted all of three minutes and I think she missed my wildly irregular heartbeat BECAUSE SHE DIDN"T LISTEN TO IT  ) and said, What is gluten? What is it in? and she never even heard my answer...

so veyr well true indeed that misinterpretation is rampant there. No one cares.

AndreaB Contributor
:o:lol: um, are you SURE about that?? :)

Absolutely positive!!! :D

forgot to tell you guys, had my bone density scan (per GI's request) two weeks ago....just got results. Shows medium risk in LEFT hip and upper thigh....that is so strange, bc my RIGHT hip and upper thigh are always killing me......maybe the girl at doctor's ofc. was reading wrong?

So what does the acticel (or whatever it was) do?

Do you think celiac caused any of this?

Don't you dare! We love you and all the pages you've padded on here.

;);) ;) yes indeed-y. ha ha ha ha

FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRST of all, Tom is GU (geographically undesireable, lives in PHoenix, WHICH IS HOTTER THAN FRESNO, for Pete's sake, but closer than my other boyfriend in GEORGIA)...........

Second, I will bet anything that he is married. The interesting ones always are.

:P:P:P

Um, BTW, it says on my page how old I am. am going to change that now. I was hit on by a 30-year-old two weeks ago at my pub, he thought I was 35, stayed for half an hour at our table, until I told him how old I actually was.......within 5 minutes he left.

LAST time I tell anyone my age. ;)

oops - I think I am re-telling stories.

:ph34r::lol:

and also, padding the pages with a whole lotta nuttin.

Do you think celiac caused any of this?

ABSOLUTELY! And I was quite blessed to have it diagnosed when I did, I was so malnourished that really horrible damage could have been done had I not been sent (by EEEJIT doctor) to a competent GI. My intestinal problems, after all, were not intolerable.....I didn't even care and just figured all of it was from nerves. :o

Where is Tom....he is going to be embarassed (CARLA!!!) when he comes back......

He got diagnosed with Celiac in the early 60's......or was it just the 60's. I'm thinking around 40-45.

Reporting in doctor's appointment: I have my first meeting with my naturopath tomorrow afternoon. I can't wait because I'm so tired of feeling so awful all the time.

Hopefully, I'll be on the path to good health soon, and I'm sure I'll have lots of questions for you all tomorrow night!

Thanks again for this thread; it's really like a gift for me at a time like this, as no one in my family or friends really "gets" it and what it's like to feel sick all the time, so I'm very thankful for all of you!

AndreaB Contributor

That was mostly due to the fact that those who needed help were being ignored while everyone else was busy having fun. As long as we keep the thread supportive of EVERYONE, we should be fine......am I right Rachel?

AndreaB Contributor
FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRST of all, Tom is GU (geographically undesireable, lives in PHoenix, WHICH IS HOTTER THAN FRESNO, for Pete's sake, but closer than my other boyfriend in GEORGIA)...........

If my memory serves me correctly he spent most of his years in California. :P

Um, BTW, it says on my page how old I am.

I better go look at your b-day before I lose it.

Oh sweet! I'm not ready for a game yet - was just shootin around a little.

Used to play in games 3-4x/wk b4 1st getting sick. Pretty often for a guy in late 30s. The whippersnappers seemed more energetic every year.

It's good to hear you can play again. Helps give me more hope. (But can ya "leap over a small forward for a single reBound"? Hehehhe)

I thought he gave a clue to his age ... I guess it all depends on when he got sick.

AndreaB Contributor
Where is Tom....he is going to be embarassed (CARLA!!!) when he comes back......

Somehow I don't think he gets easily embarrased.

Rachel and Dave took alot of ribbing last year......remember, and they were just friends.

We're glad you joined us Julie.

I'll look forward to hearing how it goes and what your initial impression is. :)

um....yeah......where is The DAve?

It is nearly impossible to embarass me.....

:lol::lol:

JULIE!!! we were wondering where you were. SO GOOD that you're seeing the naturopath!!

Um, hey, I"ll send you some seeds if you send me some delicious salmon. My mom and I went to Costco the other day, I unloaded everything from car except a huge slab of salmon and some chips, in the very back....didn't realize it until late that night. ALMOST cooked and ate the salmon.....who cares....but thought better of it and had to throw whole thing out. :(

dingo must sign off, 60 Minutes is on.

what a hoot! lots of fun today.

:)

Was diagnosed w/ celiac when I was 2 or 3, in the 60s.

I found it. :P

I think there's another Julie who used to frequent this thread...I actually got confused for a bit because I'm a Julie M., too! But I've only been on this thread for a week or so.

We actually had a thread going a year ago or so on all the Julies with celiac disease--there are a few of us! :)

Most of us here don't have a brain, so having a bit of brain fog is not a negative here! :P

So, 45 and single. We're going to need to see a picture ... not for my sake, I'm happily married ... but if you're going to be flirting around here, I'm the screener. Remember, we're shallow!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes for my mom, we had a very nice day.

Beverly, sorry the herxing is so heinous. :(

Susan, glad you weren't gone for long. :)

Donna - - my mojitos would not poison you. :) They have magical restorative qualities and are reputed to cure any condition. It's fun to sip with dingos, they're such lovely company. Just now and then, 'twould be nice to have someone raise a glass and stare lasciviously at me for something other than remnants of my food.

.....

I'll have one of those magical mojitos.

As to lasciviousness, I suggest you take that late thirty energy and exercise it :P before you find yourself fifty and preferring to shop.:lol:

....

for once.....I am actually out of words......and just savoring the fact that it is no accident that we all find ourselves here together in this magical place.....we are all here, a family, for a reason, and the reasons just build and build.

....

Yes, yes, yes.

Rachel, so glad your appointment went well, great news about the treatment that you thought you would have to travel for being available right there.

Whew! I think I've been reading for an hour. That'll teach me not to go shopping.. :P ....we were only almost completely out of food.

<_<

ROTFLMAO

Jin, I love your use of language. I know I wanted to respond to something you said but I dingo'd it. :(

Leaving for a whole day is risky, I've been reading for nearly an hour.

I'm sorry about Alison leaving, I'm not sure what heinous thread it was. There were a couple that started to heat up :( but I didn't stick around.

I find I have very limited energy for conflict these days. I prefer to accept that others see things differently than I do.

Hi Donna, Laura, Patti, Andrea, Tom, Miamia.....

It's unfortunate that they won't work with you on this, but in the end sometimes we have to take charge of our own health--which is exactly what happened to me. I did finally get the tests done, but only after years of going down various rabbit holes and suffering. Just quitting gluten may be the best path for you at this point.

My doctor didn't take the time to listen to anything. I don't even think she knows what it means. She is more concerned about my blood pressure that is caused by her presence than anything else and just wants to push pills at me. The so-called dermatologist wouldn't do a skin test. she prescribed all of these silly antihistamine skin meds. This lady didn't even know what she was talking about and said "they never turn out as celiac, they usually just say it's dermatitis so here's your meds," just like my regular quack. I'm trying to change insurance companies at the moment and that has been a battle because of red tape, wrong turns, and workers having wrong phone numbers. What a joke! The allergy blood days say I have a wheat allergy of .31. Hopefully it's just that and until I find a decent doctor and dermatologist, I'll just lay off the wheat anyway, since it gives me asthma, high blood sugar, and joint pain. So frustrated at this point. The rash on my back of arms/elbows is mostly gone. Both calves and chest have started up. smh. It comes and goes. It fades faster now, though, although my forearms still produce one or two bumps on each side. The itching has calmed down a lot except for the bump area. I have dry skin to begin with so anything affecting it just makes it crazy. i'm never going to eat wheat again. I don't care if they need it to produce results or if it is just an intolerance, allergy, or celiac. It gives me hell.

I had the test done by one of the specialist through second pcp I had only a few months because he was saying I wasn't.Even though Im positive HLA-DQ2 .My celiac is down played.I am with new pcp, seeing another girl doctor who wants to do another breathe test next month though Im positive sibo this year.I have high blood pressure not sure if its pain from sciatica or sibo, ibs or hidden gluten. Im in disability limbo and I should have never been a bus driver because im still suffering and trying to heal with zero income except for my husband. This isnt fare that my health is dictating my living and having ti beg for being revalidation of my disregarded celiac disease. Its an emotional roller coaster I don't want to be on and the medical made it worse.New pcp new gi, exhausted, tired and really fed up. GI doctor NOT girl..

Hi Jmartes, It sure is difficult to get useful advice from medical providers. Almost 20 years  ago a Dr suggested that I might have Celiacs and I took a Celiac Panel blood test. No gluten challenge diet. On that test the tTG was in normal range but an alpha antibody was very high. I went online and read about celiac disease and saw how I could investigate this low tTG and still have celiac disease. Normal tTG can happen when a person had been reacting for many years. Another way is that the person has not been eating enough gluten to raise the antibody level. Another reason is that the tTG does not show up on a blood but may show up on a fecal test. Almost all Celiacs inherit at least one of the 2 main Celiac genes. I had genetic tests for the Celiac genes at Enterolab.com. I inherited one main Celiac gene from one parent and the report said that the DQ gene I inherited from my other parent, DQ6, could cause a person to have more problems or symptoms with that combination. One of my grandmother's had fairly typical symptoms of Celiacs but the other grandmother had severe food intolerances. I seem to show some problems inherited from both grandmothers. Human physiology is very complex and researchers are just beginning to understand how different body systems interact.  If you have taken an autosomal DNA test you can download your raw data file and upload it to Prometheuw.com for a small fee and search for Celiac Disease. If you don't find any Cekiac genes or information about Celiac disease  you may not have autoimmune gluten intolerance because more than 99% of Celiacs have one or both of these genes.  PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS IF YOU WANT TO KNOW EHAT i HAVE DONE TO HELP WITH SYMPTOMS.

I can't prove it, but I truly believe I have been glutened by airborne particles. I used to take care of shelter cats once per week at a pet store, and no matter how careful I was, I would get glutened each time even if I wore a mask and gloves and washed up well after I was done. I believe the problem was that because I'm short, I couldn't do the the tasks without getting my head and shoulders inside their cages, and so the particles from their food would be all over my hair and top of my shirt. Then I had to drive home, so even if I didn't get glutened right then, the particles would be in my car just waiting for me to get in the car so they could get blown into my face again. I gave up that volunteer gig and stopped getting glutened so often and at such regular intervals.
