Name the spaceship Freddy. UUMmm alien. So the alien and gonna be history?I don't get it but I'M scared whatever that means. We have aliens in us TOO! I KNEW IT. That's what Carla meant when she said that she would be surprised if I only had mercury. :D

LOL Lisa!! U must be feeling at least a little better(?).

Sure hope so.

And when I saw Freddy I thought again of our Mercury Rocket series of manned spaceflights and then it came to me!

Rachel! How about "The Spiceship" !

What is that machine called again? I keep wanting to call it a sound purifier. That does not sound right, though. I would not mind having one. The noise bothers me. I do not sleep well because of the phone ringing and other things some days.

Here is the machine I bought...I wish it were slightly more adjustable in tone, but I'm used to it now:

You guys are not senior citizens! Youth is not a number! Youth is in the soul! All of your souls are vibrant! Remember that!

Well SOMETHING is vibrant...not sure it's my soul. Lime green toenails... oh, wait, they're metallic watermelon right now. :P

Oh no...putting Spice names under avatars (how in heck am I going to in-bare-ass myself by putting Farts Like Machine Gun Spice under my wedding picture? I made a very BIG effort that day NOT to fart!)

Well, you could shorten it to Machine Gun Spice.... :P

My youngest son ( 17 ) and I have been trying to get this boat done so we can all go fishing. But because of all my medical problems it has been a very slow process. We actually started on it last summer and are still not done. But we are getting close and hope to have it in the water in the next couple week. My wife has been saying maybe we should get some one else to help with it. But it has been such a close bonding thing for the 2 of us I just don't want to go there. We are real close any way, but we started it and I just feel like we should finish it. But hey maybe it is more for my benefit then it is his. Either way we have been having fun doing it and will have even more fun when we get to go fishing in it. Ok I am done rambling now and boring you all to death probably but just had to brag on him,

Grump, that is wonderful!!! Definitely NOT boring!

Donna--If it's not too late, good luck!

Thanks...lucked out...they cancelled practice. :P

I'm feeling rather flat today which is no doubt related to my general misbehavior, my problem is I start feeling well enough that I am willing to suffer a little.

 I think this is one of my problems too...when I feel really good, I start to think I can do anything or eat anything.

Donna...got my results right here..

Oh thank you!

Donna...sorry for sending you on a wild goose chase but at least you got some good laughs out of it.

Yes indeed...not to worry...got to read posts from some of our old friends.

Guess I gotta hit F5 to see Tom's villi  ....right now I'm looking at saxy Tom....only he's not looking so saxy

And part 2.....

I posted mine on page 977... here are my results:

Oh thank you!! Yours was actually one of the easier to find, lol!! But I thank you for reposting!!!

the balance symptoms I had upon starting the ABX went away after the first week... but it's been a little rough at times the past 2 weeks with headaches, getting more easily exhausted, and increased brain fog...

I've stripped my diet back down to the basics for a few days, cutting out my "treat" foods like potato chips and tomato sauce... whenever I feel really off for more than a day, I tend to go down to a very basic diet of strictly meats and veggies and then wait to feel decent and lucid for at least a day or 2... I was probably eating too many potato chips anyway, which could have exacerbated any candida symptoms, especially considering the effect that antibiotics also have on candida overgrowth...

I did have my best day of the week today so I think I'm slowly coming out of whatever funk I was in... and I have an appt in 2 weeks with my llmd which will be my 1 month appt on the ABX...

Glad to hear you are feeling better!!! I need to go back to basics too...decided last night after I racheled some cashews (after racheling some other things which I refuse to mention)...so tomorrow I grocery shop, then strick for a week.

Bloody hot here, Rachel would love it.......who needs a sauna? MISERABLE!!!! (yes, she needs a name for that space contraption.....hmmmmmm .......will ponder.....)

night'night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't wait to see the new 'do. Yes, darned hot yesterday!!!

Rachel, Thanks for the suggestion to e-mail Scott, the better health guy. He e-mailed me back tonight and confirmed that the ART person who I found in town is really good. Wow, that was quick! I'll be calling her as soon as my brain-fogged mind can remember! I feel so much better having a reference!

Donna and Susan ~ I'll be contacting you when I get closer to coming to San Jose and Monterey. I've been to Nepente's too, but always too late to check out the store. I thought the redwoods were waaaay cooler! We found a hollowed out one to do chants in ~ it was a spiritual experience

I haven't been to the redwoods since I was a little girls...we used to do fun things like that regularly. :( I am so very happy you have a good ART practitioner in your area!!! It really is a VERY interesting process!

Oh yeah...Scott is really good about getting back to people. He's always quick to respond.

Very good!

Hehe....the alien baby is gonna be history....just you wait and see.

Sorry I can't help relocate the alien baby for ya!

Oooohhh, very good!

 One of the things I kept coming across yesterday in my searing was the alien baby. Hopefully I'll have time to do snippets this morning... :)

I know I couldn't do it. At a minimum I'd go all Adrian Monk and try to "even it out". There's no symmetry in 3/4.

 I can be a bit monkish myself. :P

I think, either in this thread or start another, we should all make a list of the top 10 things we want to do when we feel better (even if it's as small as racheling all the Bumble Bars, peanut butter, martinis or (gasp) cute waiters

...

I've got #1 secretly planned for October because I turn 40 in November. I want to be well enough by October to go to Ireland for my 40th birthday.

Oh I loved Ireland!!! Would go back there in a second...I was only there for part of 1 day (on a cruise), but loved that and Scotland so much!

Oh, and I have 5 Bumble Bars in my cabinet waiting for said racheling.

Even though the IND does not indicate a weak positive it also is not a negative.

The Igenix report will say that the presence of an IND on a double starred band (34 is double starred) in a negative report *may* indicate clinical significance.

The recommendation is to test using another method and/or retesting the WB's in 4-6 weeks.

My tests had a pattern of indeterminates specific to the Lyme bands and the recommendation was for treatment and retesting but given that I had 47 symptoms including a rash, I have proceeded on the basis of the first clinical diagnosis of Lyme.

I have not wanted to go the ABX route although I have not ruled it out, I have seen enormous changes through diet, detox and supplements. There are times I am amazed that I feel as well as I do.

Today seems to be a good day, I haven't had any coffee in three days  well, I haven't been drinking any coffee :lol: and the coffee pain is gone. I was trying to have a third of a cup twice a week but I am going to have to come out of denial about it and just stop. It causes me too much physical pain. :(

No wonder I am capable of rachelling food.:lol:

My dad just mailed me this article. Took me a while, but I found it online.

Open Original Shared Link

Thanks for the article Carla, it seems sad to me that someone has to become that ill to get help.

I have heard of people who have been on ABX for Lyme for years. :o The IV aspect of it I find really scary. I also worry that so many of these people diagnosed with Lyme and treated simply with ABX are going to find themselves getting sicker from the mercury and candida. :(

I think this is one of my problems too...when I feel really good, I start to think I can do anything or eat anything.

Ain't that the truth. It took me quite awhile to learn to resist - it was more the physical "do" for me. But also some eating for a test. Finally realized that the more often I do tests, the more often they fail.

And maybe there's more to the cumulative effect of more consecutive 'better' days than meets the eye.

I think there's just something hard-wired in the brain to try to take advantage of feeling better. (Bah not as well-said as I thought it'd come out)

Surprised not a single post re: my thoughts on refining a distinct, narrow definition to 'carla-ing'.

There just seems to be a wide chasm between 'not racheling' & qtr-donut-per-week 'carla-ing'.

Awww Tom,

For Rachel, using the sauna for the time alotted by her doctors advice is a Carla. You've just got to understand Rachel, she usually Rachel's everything so this is definately a Carla for her.

Carla'ing would be showing restraint in having/doing just a little bit (meds, foods, treatments).

For treatments it would seem plausible to say they were Carla'd if you followed doctors directions.......especially is your name is Rachel. :P

Charlie, I'm glad you're feeling better. The key with antibiotics is DETOX! So, junk food is best left out of the picture. For me, these days junk food is a bowl of berries with fresh whipped cream on them (just whipping cream). :) I am actually Racheling the berries.

Ditto...dont be a stranger Charlie.

Ditto again.

So this must be what Dr. Amy was talking about with the Lyme causing me more symptoms once I start getting these metals out. Sounds like the Lyme is gonna "wake-up".

We're not talking about that now ... one step at a time ... Lyme is in the closet. :P Stay in no Lyme la la land for as long as you can! If you have to deal with it later, then worry about it later. ;)

WHAT? why you silly, delusional man!!! Clearly your soy-deprived brain has just completely abandoned you........a phone call? what? who? me?

Sorry, just had to quote this. Which of you is delusional? Perhaps both?

BEV - - - PAJAMA PARTY!!! fabulous idea. I think the boys are welcome, I don't think we will lock them outside, I think they will be our slave-servants and just do all the cooking and make the cosmos for us.

:lol: I do think the mercury is hiding something.

OK I don't want to be a negative nellie, and I *have* misdefined local lingo in Rachelville before, but w/out more details I can't help but question any claim of 'carla-ization'. In fact, at the next council mtg I'll propose that any such claim undergo peer review.

Well, I was allowed NO SUGAR ... I ate a quarter of a donut. Rachel sticking to her doctor's recommendation counts. ;)

I haven't had any coffee in three days  well, I haven't been drinking any coffee :lol:

So, what have you been doing with your coffee????

I have heard of people who have been on ABX for Lyme for years. :o The IV aspect of it I find really scary. I also worry that so many of these people diagnosed with Lyme and treated simply with ABX are going to find themselves getting sicker from the mercury and candida. :(

Yes, I think Lyme is a complex illness that takes some special work to eliminate. I don't think it's possible to get better on abx alone.

10 things to do, hmmmm I know one of them is to meet all of you.

That's on my list, too.

Well, I've been back on my meds for three days and feel FINE. I haven't started the Plaquenil yet ... I wonder if that's the culprit? If so, I'll have to deal with it.

I haven't started my supplements yet ... I'm going to do that one at a time to see if they were causing the problem.

It's very strange that I'm on the meds and feeling so good. I'm sure the next herx will be sneaking up on me soon.

Okay, for the first time, I had too many emoticons. I tried to "copy" over half my post to split it up, and when I right clicked, copy was NOT an option. Very strange ... wonder why that was. So I deleted the emoticons in the quotes. Now I have too many quotes.

Ok, it's certainly a community-defined term, and there's a rough consensus so far (besides me of course :P ).

I still say the origination of "carla'ing" was such an example of EXTREME restraint, that applying it to cases of restraint which, tho admirable, just aren't on par w/ not just stopping at one bite per sitting or per day. ONE BITE PER WEEK is ridiculous to the point it may someday become myth or fable!! (With only OMG regulars knowing it's a true tale)

In that situation, for me it'd be as likely as jumping over the Grand Canyon.

(0 bites I can do!)

Okay, but there are SOME people on this thread who shall remain nameless (okay Rachel and myself) who cannot exercise ANY restraint, so therefore we MUST adapt carla-ing to fit what small hint of quasi restraint may exist. (Not sure I understood what I just wrote)

I will definately have to abdicate the computer to hubby and go to bed early that night. Right now I've talked to his boss about having that day off. Mom's on vacation till the 24th so I don't know if she's able to watch the other two yet or not. I'd like Mitch to be able to see how this goes too.

Did I mention that it's an ART appointment? Dr. Elizabeth is Dr. Amy's partner.

Raising you vitamin D will increase absorption of calcium automatically without supplementation of calcium.  A high PTH can be caused by low D causing poor calcium absorption; not insuffient calcium intake.  With low D your body is not absorbing calcium from your food so it steals it from your bones.  Heart has priority over bone. I've been taking 10,000 IU D3 a day since 2015.  My doctor says to continue. To fix my lactose intolerance, lots of lactobacillus from yogurts, and brine fermented pickles and saurkraut and olives.  We lose much of our ability to make lactase endogenosly with maturity but a healthy colony of lactobacillus in our gut excretes lactase in exchange for room and board. The milk protein in grass fed milk does not bother me. It tastes like the milk I grew up on.  If I drink commercial milk I get heartburn at night. Some experts estimate that 90% of us do not eat Adequite Intake of choline.  Beef and eggs are the principle source. Iodine deficiency is a growing concern.  I take 600 mcg a day of Liquid Iodine.  It and NAC have accelerated my healing all over.  Virtually blind in my right eye after starting antihypertensive medication and vision is slowly coming back.  I had to cut out starches because they drove my glucose up into the 200+ range.  I replaced them with Red Bull for the glucose intake with the vitamins, minerals and Taurine needed to process through the mitochodria Krebs Cycle to create ATP.  Went from A1c 13 down to 7.9.  Work in progress. @catnapt, Wheat germ has very little gluten in it.  Gluten is  the carbohydrate storage protein, what the flour is made from, the fluffy part.  Just like with beans, there's the baby plant that will germinate  ("germ"-inate) if sprouted, and the bean part is the carbohydrate storage protein.   Wheat germ is the baby plant inside a kernel of wheat, and bran is the protective covering of the kernel.   Little to no gluten there.   Large amounts of lectins are in wheat germ and can cause digestive upsets, but not enough Gluten to provoke antibody production in the small intestines. Luckily you still have time to do a proper gluten challenge (10 grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks) before your next appointment when you can be retested.

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind
