I'm sorry for all the stress of your iron counts on top of everything else. I'll be waiting for updates as you are able.

I'm really annoyed! I just looked over the blood work from last night and ughhh!!!! I AM anemic. All of my other iron numbers are low. I guess I should get an appt with Dr C, my hematologist.

I think I'm going to wait until tomorrow after we re-draw my iron and ferritin, etc.

Nora, I do have low T3 but we have been supplementing it. I will definitely look into all possibilities of the cause of PCOS. I know about Metformin being used because the insulin component of PCOS. Thanks for the links, I will read them. I've read quite a bit about PCOS, but the more info I have before tomorrow, the better.

Paula and Andrea, Thanks. This has definitely been hard, but I just have to get through it all. I'll probably end up in a psych ward after all of this.

What are you taking for T3 Kassandra? We just had to up my dose of Cytomel. My thyroid is doing better, but the T3 was still low. I'm on 5 mcg twice daily.

I'm taking Cytomel...the same exact dose as you. I don't know exactly what my numbers were for the T3, but they were very low. Dr H said we need to re-test after I've been on it for about a month or so...which is now. I need to try to remember when I see him again. :)

Hi Everyone,

Kassandra, Sorry for all you are going through. Hopefully, you'll get the iron iv's, get the bleeding to stop and then not have to go through this again.

Paula,

Do you think it was the epsom salt bath that made you herx?

We took my friend's 4 year old to the infectious disease doctor today. He was nice, but he didn't check for lyme. He did check for candida antigen - which I thought was good. I don't know much about checking for "antigen" but it sounded good! Plus a bunch of other testing.

I have a horrible sinus infection and my cheeks hurt! :(

I have been using the netti pot, homeopathic, plus taking raw garlic (stinky stinky) in an effort to kick this. I even went to acupuncture today. It just won't go away!

Any ideas?

ShadowSwallow Newbie

Guess who's got a Lil' Orange Juggy in her fridge?

I went to the allergist today and it was definitely a productive yet frustrating appointment. He went through and muscle tested which things were the most important for me (out of Lyme, Heavy Metals, Allergies, or detoxing biotoxins). They ordered out: Heavy Metals, Allergies, Biotoxins, Lyme. So I got a DMPS and Glutathonamine IV push.

During all this the person who does BioSet there (Matt) tested me for Sulfa toxicity/sensitivity, and I have it. He desensitized me to it, but it didn't work out for me to have an LED treatment for it. Mercury was the only metal that showed up as a problem in BioSet, so the Dr still expects to see some come out. If it doesn't then we'll just do another challenge after the LED. I'm working on convincing Mom and an LED is really important. And I suppose now I really have to pay attention to the sulfur talk. :P

It also turns out that despite my sulfur toxicity/sensitivity my body LOVES DMPS. :P

Kassandra, I'm really sorry that all of this is springing up on you so suddenly. :(

April,

I never thought an detox bath could herx, but that would make so much sense.

Kassandra,

When its time for an psych ward let me know and maybe we can be roomates lol

Well that's good news! Hope you can get your mom to understand the benefits of the LED. :)

April, I always need to take some Benadryl to clear my sinuses out. How about colloidal silver?

Kassandra, 2 mg lunesta. :)

Everyone,

I have an question. My magneium was high on the hair test. Well now everytime i try to take an detox bath i get really shakey and just feel off for a few days, Is there such an thing as too much magnesium.

Usually when magnesium is high in the hair its actually indicating that you're probably deficient. Most of us who are sick are usually needing more magnesium...not less. If your body was utilizing the magnesium it wouldnt be coming out excessively in your hair.

To be sure you can do a red blood cell test...that will tell you whether or not your levels are "truelly" high.

How much epsom salts are you using in the bath? You might need to cut back and work up to higher amounts gradually. If you're really deficient it could also be somewhat of a shock to your system to suddenly have alot of magesium coming in whenever you're doing the baths.

Another thought is chlorine. Do you ever take baths without the epsom salts? You might want to try that and see if you still feel "off" after the bath. If you're not using a filter for chlorine it can affect you just sitting in the bath and also breathing in the chlorine from the water. I think its recommended that a filter for chlorine be used when taking epsom salt baths.

I dont think an epsom salth bath would cause a herx though.

It also turns out that despite my sulfur toxicity/sensitivity my body LOVES DMPS. :P

Birdy, me too. I dont tolerate sulfur but my body LOVES DMPS......it wants/needs DMPS. I have never had a negative response to it either....but every sulfur containing supplement has tested poorly....and I have not responded well to the ones I tried.

I have to have DMPS by itself....no glutathione or anything else...just DMPS.

Nearly everyone with chronic illness/metals/lyme issues will benefit from the sulfa detox. Most people do have problems with it....which is why Dr. Cowden recommends it as the first LED treatment. People will do better with the other treatments once they've detoxed the sulfa.

Kassandra...Sorry things are so rough right now. Its been one thing after another! :(

Hang in there...it will get better. Try not to get overwhelmed with everything and just deal with each thing as it comes. I think you're doing a great job of this already. ;)

Kassandra, my thoughts are with you, this is just so much to track. I think your set of doctors should video conference and work out a plan that takes some of the stress off of you. Also it seems like some close tracking and emergent decision making is warranted.

Hang in there, and so glad you are able to keep us posted.

I'm signing off to pack up my computer for the trip to the USA.

Rachel.

The water here is still 2 times the chlorine limit. I do have an chlorine ball, but the last few days i havent felt like it was doing much good, even tho its only like 2 weeks old. I really dont think the chlorine ball is made for this high of level. My eyes have actually been burning while im in the bath to.

Im still only on like maybe 1.5 cups of epsom, if even that. I usually put in like 4 or 5 big handfuls.

I really think the water here is a big part of some of my problems. Im wondering if i just need to break down and have short showers, even tho i hate to shower lol

Chlorine is really not a good thing. <_< I kind of feel like the bath ball isnt really sufficient so I do feel like its not removing enough of the chlorine. I use the ball at my moms house but at home I have the showerhead filter and I fill my bath from the showerhead....I think it works alot better.

I dont think its good for you to be taking baths in water that has high levels of chlorine....especially if you're already having detox problems. I would try to get a really good showerhead filter and only use that for baths and/or showers.

Sounds like a good plan Paula.

LOL...are you agreeing that she should give up bathing??

Well, I think her family members may object....unless of course she's planning on getting a showerhead soon! :P

Paula, in that case you'll probably have to make getting a showerhead a priority...so yeah....I agree too! No bathing until you get the showerhead!!

Kassandra, something I came across yesterday mentioned that PCOS is somehow connected to blood sugar problems .... you might Google that and see what you come up with. I can't remember where I saw it, but meant to mention it to you.

I hope you're feeling better.

Kassandra-

Hi...I am so sorry about what you are going through also. I did mention that I did have PCOS also. I haven't read up on it in a couple of years, but "they" wrote then that high insulin levels caused anovulation which causes the cysts.

Or insulin resistance, meaning, you eat, your body produces insulin, the insulin doesn't convert the blood sugar into energy, so the body produces more insulin and keeps pumping it out. Finally, the insulin starts to work and convert the blood sugar. But by this time you have EXCESS insulin floating around that has no place to go. Because the insulin doesn't do its job properly and GRADUALLY like in normal people, it can cause a drastic blood sugar drop especially if you go too long without eating. That is why, I eat every 3 hours whether I am hungry or not. If I go too long, my whole day is shot, I can never catch up and I have low blood sugar symptoms all day.

I hope you will feel better soon. On the days I feel best, I eat mini, well rounded meals every two - three hours.

Hi Paula and Rachel-

Where do you get the bath ball and where can you get a filtered shower head? i love my baths too, but i am having so many detox issues, I need to start removing the chlorine!

I ordered my showerhead filter from Open Original Shared Link guy. You need to change the filter every 6 months and he sells those as well.

I have always been leary of taking any kind of metal. But I would be willing to try it. Is that a nose spray or do you take it internal?

I'm really trying hard to NOT get ahead of myself, but after today's appt, I'm worried.

confusedks Enthusiast

:(

Ugh. Really rough appointment. She started out by saying that she wanted to put me on some hormones to induce my period, so we could get the really thick lining of my uterus out.

Then as she looked over a 2 year old :o pelvic ultrasound, she realized that pills aren't an option...not aggressive enough. She said she wanted to do a D&C in about 2 weeks. Her concern is that the lining of my uterus is SO thick, that something is seriously wrong. She is going to send the lining to a lab to test for malignant lining. :( :( :( She's worried I have uterine cancer. :(

She was really upset at my old Gynocologist who *knew* about the lining being twice as thick as it was supposed to be, but didn't do anything about it.

The next step is talking to Dr H...he has to be on board and give a "go ahead" for the surgery. I called him right away and told him what's happening and that I need to hear back from him right away.

I just got a call from the Gyno's office and they said they already got insurance approval and they scheduled it. :( I'm FREAKED out!!!!!:wacko:

Finally, she said that because my uterus is heart shaped, while they're doing the D&C, they're going to "scope" my uterus to see how deformed (basically...) it is, and decide whether that needs surgery or not in order to correct it. :(

I'm really ready for all of this to be over. I'm scared out of my mind. I'm just trying to do the next indicated thing, like making the phone calls to the Dr's I need to call, etc.

The last thing, she ran all kinds of blood work (8 tubes! :o ) and I asked her to run what the Hematologist runs, and she did. We should get results ASAP. Then we have to see the hematologist and get more Iron IV's, if not before, definitely after the D&C because I will lose a bit of blood apparently.

How do I contact someone at celiac.com concerning the cessation of my weekly e-newsletter? I had been receiving it regularly for years. Hello, @Jane02,  I take Naturewise D 3.  It contains olive oil.   Some Vitamin D supplements, like D Drops, are made with fractionated coconut oil which can cause digestive upsets.  Fractionated coconut oil is not the same as coconut oil used for cooking.  Fractionated coconut oil has been treated for longer shelf life, so it won't go bad in the jar, and thus may be irritating to the digestive system. I avoid supplements made with soy because many people with Celiac Disease also react to soy.  Mixed tocopherols, an ingredient in Thornes Vitamin D, may be sourced from soy oil.  Kirkland's has soy on its ingredient list. I avoid things that might contain or be exposed to crustaceans, like Metagenics says on its label.  I have a crustacean/shellfish/fish allergy.  I like Life Extension Bioactive Complete B Complex.  I take additional Thiamine B 1 in the form Benfotiamine which helps the intestines heal, Life Extension MegaBenfotiamine. Thiamine is needed to activate Vitamin D.   Low thiamine can make one feel like they are getting glutened after a meal containing lots of simple carbohydrates like white rice, or processed gluten free foods like cookies and pasta.   It's rare to have a single vitamin deficiency.  The water soluble B Complex vitamins should be supplemented together with additional Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine and Thiamine TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) to correct subclinical deficiencies that don't show up on blood tests.  These are subclinical deficiencies within organs and tissues.  Blood is a transportation system.  The body will deplete tissues and organs in order to keep a supply of thiamine in the bloodstream going to the brain and heart.   If you're low in Vitamin D, you may well be low in other fat soluble vitamins like Vitamin A and Vitamin K. Have you seen a dietician?

I do not know this, but since they are labelled gluten-free, and are not really a product that could easily be contaminated when making them (there would be not flour in the air of such a facility, for example), I don't really see contamination as something to be concerned about for this type of product.

Thanks @Scott Adams. Do you know if Kirkland Signature supplements share facility and production lines with other products containing gluten?  I'm worried that I'll react to this brand just like I did with other gluten-free labelled supplement brands.
