It was mentioned by a friends' brother to have T tested for chemical imbalances to see if it's something like that behind her anger and outbursts (like attacking me). We've got a program we can look into but it's run by DSHS and I don't really want to go there right now.

Im going to pm you when the kids go to school with some questions.

Everyone,

Hubby asked to be on vacation-leave of absence this week. He said itis time that i detox all this mold out of me and fight to get my health back. I have become very bad the last week or so. almost in a very dark spot and i need to get out of it, for me and for my kids. So starting sunday, I will be feeling terrible, so if i disappear, dont worry to much lol

Paula, be sure you have lots of chlorella on hand.

Also, pectin is supposed to be good to absorb toxins. I didn't find that out until I got back from the store yesterday and I didn't feel good enough to go back out. It was all I could do to go get the chlorella.

Potatoes with the skin on and apples. Anything with fiber.

Drink lots of water.

Get lots of rest.

I bought something with liver support. You don't want NAC or other detoxers as you just want something to support your liver not pull out any more toxins. Don't take any herbs to kill bacteria/fungus, etc, either.

I found out that mold detox is very hard and it's all I could handle at one time. I'm going to have to go another day without my meds. I can tell I'm at the tail end and that the binders are working. Yuck. I still have a rash on my forehead and scalp ... the same one I've had off and on most of the time I've posted on this board. It will be interesting to see if it finally goes away.

Today I still feel intoxicated. I don't feel like I'll keel over if I walk and stir up toxins. :) But I'm pretty fatigued still, so don't know how much walking I'll be doing today. ;)

I'm really glad your hubby is going to stay at home with you, that will be a big help.

Would chlorelle or pectin be better then charcoal. I have started to take it again in the last two days. I am going to go to the health store tommorow, or today if i can muster up the energy. I have 2 sick girls home with me today. So we might just watch cartoons all day lol.

I have an whole box of apples, so that will be good.

I will have to look for an gluten, casein and soy free liver support. I am also going to start back on lemon water and see if that helps.

Can i text you from my bed when i feel like im dying lol

LOL, yeah, Paula, do you want my number?

Idk what's better .... I prefer chlorella because it has so many nutrients whereas charcoal just sucks up everything.

You can get pectin, I guess it's a powder? Can be mixed with juice? That's what someone told me ... the person who recommended it.

I ate some salted applesauce yesterday for lunch, LOL. I don't know why I felt like it needed salt!

Today, I have a very odd taste in my mouth. I guess it's metallic. I don't know what this is from. I've been up for three hours, I really need to force myself to eat.

I really feel for those of you who have mold exposure .... it's way worse than I thought!

Yeah, it sucks!

Yes, I used both chlorella and pectin...I much prefer both of these to charcoal. The pectin (Modified Citrus Pectin) was a powder that I got from my doctor's office originally, then found it cheaper on Amazon.

How about epsom baths? Does that help? I find that anytime I have felt wierd and toxic the epsom bath does wonders for me. Plus the binders.

I would like to add, it might be good to keep your diet very clean during this time. Fruits, veggies, meats. No hard to digest carbs - even if gluten free.

Yes, that way u can tell me that im not dying, when i think i am. Well that is if i can text and make sense at the moment lol

Ok ill look for chlorella. Is it something you have to take all by iself like charcoal. I dont drink juice at all, but i guess i can make some in the juicer and add the pectin. I can pick up some really good fruit at the farmers market tommorow.

Is salted applesauce even good lol

I wouldnt be surprised if the mold was hiding some metal toxcitiy, and that is why you have the metallic taste in your mouth. I got that taste really bad when i ate tuna and sometimes for no reason what so ever.

Yeah, it sucks!

Yeah, I'm glad you're going to get rid of it and that you'll have help, lol.

I could not do it without help. Things have been so bad lately, I havent even left the house and have made hubby take breaks to pick up the kids to school. But I am making myself leave the house tommorow.

I hope i can even find pectin in this little town i live in lol

I have been back on the baths for 4 days. They have helped some, but not that much. I am just in an really odd place, it is hard to explain. Maybe midlife crisis, i dont know lol

So that means i cant have my daily serving of chips lol

That's another nice thing about chlorella, Paula, I don't believe it has to be taken away from everything else. I read it's good to take before a meal.

Pectin is used to make jelly ..... I'm sure you'll have it .... I know people who live out in the sticks make jelly, LOL. I don't think you have to put it in juice. :)

The salted applesauce was great. I don't know if it would have tasted so great if I didn't need the salt???? I salt melon when I eat it, but I think that's more normal .... except that I salt watermelon, too.

I'll PM you my phone number.

Haha, I knew I smelled from the detox ... I DID shower yesterday afternoon, but haven't gotten out of bed today except to make a smoothie, so haven't showered yet ..... he called me "onion girl" .... how long will this last? At least I know my skin is working for detox. :)

AndreaB Contributor

Paula,

So glad to hear hubby is taking a week of so you can start detoxing. It's so nice to have a supporting spouse to help with you and the kids. We'll be here when you feel like posting.

Carla,

Sounds like things are moving along for you. Hang in there!

We are looking at starting the SCD diet, but probably not til February. Got to get through b-days and Christmas. Plus I told hubby he'd probably want to take a week of when we start this and he'd rather take time off then as that is usually when the weather is worse. We'd probably pick a nice week though right? Anyway it gives me some learning time. I already have a bad mood child due to having to give up her sugar and grains on this diet when we start it.

April, if you are doing this diet with your kids I'd love updates! :)

Gross Carla! Onion girl. Do people cry when they get near you? I smell when I detox too :) . Sometimes chlorine or alchohal or even chlorella.

Yeah I get that metallic tast in my mouth with mold or dust too. I don't know what that could be. I even get more thirst. It does make things taste more different. I hate it sssooo much.

I have one question though and this is rather strange like me, but whenever I take chlorella my green peas turn white!! They taste like chlorella too. I don't know what to make of this.

AndreaB Contributor

One thing I am concerned about with the SCD is that we can't take chlorella. That is our toxin binder and I really don't want to go off of it, especially with my amalgams still in.

CarlaB Enthusiast

Andrea, why can't you take chlorella on the SCD?

I got a shower and drove the kids somewhere to drop them off. I was supposed to stay but started feeling horrible .... I went back out to my car thinking that I hoped someone would find me if I passed out in the parking lot! I sat in my car a couple min. then felt good enough to drive home.

I went straight up to bed and asked Adam to come home from work. I didn't feel like I could even go get myself a glass of water.

How long do you think this is going to last? I've been taking lots of chlorella. I've also been drinking a lot of water.

AndreaB Contributor
Andrea, why can't you take chlorella on the SCD?

That's copied from the site Breaking the Vicious Cycle.

Chlorella Illegal It is a blue-green algae similar to spirulina.

Spirulina Illegal We do not use algae (Spirulina) because IBD involves the immune system and can aggravate an already disturbed immune system.

Carla,

I hope you start feeling better soon. I'm glad Adam was able to come home and help you.

Carla, i think we have the best hubbies in the world. We sure trained them right, huh. Im kidding, well kinda i always tell hubby that lol

Well that is not nice of the scd diet. I wonder if it would really hurt alot tho. Could you do pectin or charcoal. What does sherry do for an binder?

Pectin is not allowed either. I think Charcoal is.

I'm a bit confused as to who is detoxing using the chlorella but just wanted to pop in here with a word of caution. Chlorella is a mercury/heavy metal mobilizer and can detox too fast for some that have high levels stored in deep tissues.

From my own experience, I would not take it any more but do detox baths twice a day to help sweat the mercury/heavy metals out of the system faster. A cheap detox bath with 1 c. epsom salts, 1 c. H2O2, 1 c. baking soda, and 1/4 c. potassium. Soak in there for an hour and as hot as you can take it.... If you are really metal toxic, don't take it so hot ... but the sweating is good and one of the only ways to really get the heavy metals out. This may take a solid week to feel normal again.

Detoxing from mold/fungus would mean lots of blueberries to bind with the mycotoxins. Lots of garlic if you cannot take anti-fungals at this point...

Looking at some comments on the diet, I'm thinking we'd benefit more from just restricting our grains (not eliminating them), reducing our sugar (aside from natural sugar in fruits). I've written Dr E to see what she things and find out what it would cost for her to do a diet/nutritional plan for us.

Moldlady,

I haven't tried epsom salt baths. I could try those too.

Andrea,

Are you the one detoxing? I'm really concerned that you have mobilized mercury and heavy metals with the detoxing you have done with chlorella.

Please do the detoxing bath twice a day and stop detoxing with the chlorella. From what I have read, I think it will take you a week to get back to normal. Then, I can suggest ways of going slow....

The best way to detox from mold is to not feed it and to take anti fungals. April can help you with that if I am not around.

Take care,

ML

CarlaB Enthusiast

ML, I have already chelated heavy metals and my metals are low.

I had a bed full of mold that I was being exposed to over a period of time and I'm having a terrible detox reaction since we got rid of it. I felt SO good the first few days it was gone, now I'm feeling horrible. I'm taking chlorella to mop up toxins.

You mention anti-fungals .... you mean like Nystatin? I don't think I actually have mold growing in me ... I was exposed to mold.

Andrea, sometimes you have to take the best of different ideas and use what works for you. :)

AndreaB Contributor

I'm not detoxing. That's Carla. I do take chlorella to help bind the metals. I was muscle tested for that though and my body likes it.

Hello everyone! Been a while since I posted. The past few moths have been the best by for recovery for myself. I have been the least bloated I have ever been, my constant throat clearing is almost gone, I have stopped almost all medication I was prevously taking (was taking vyvanse for adhd, pristiq for anxiety,fomotadine/blexten for histamine blockers and singulair). Only thing I take now is Tecta. I also no longer get any rashes after eating. Things are going very well. Most success came actually once I upped my B12 daily dose to 5,000 mcg. I do have one thing I am un able to figure out and want to see if anyone else has this issue or has experience working around it. Ever since I was born I have always had a issue getting fruits and veggies down. No matter how hard I tried, it would always result in gagging or throwing up. Always just thought I was a picky eater. Now that my stomach and system has healed enough that I can feel when something is off almost istantly, I notice that after eating most fruits (sometimes I am ok with bananas) and veggies, my stomach instantly starts burning and my heart starts to pound and I get really anxious as if my body doesnt know what to do with what just enetered it. So I am thinking now that this is what probably was going on when I was born and my body started rejecting it before which caused this weird sensory issue with it causing the gagging. Hoping someone has some exprience with this as well because I would love to be able to enjoy a nice fruit smoothie once in a while haha. Thanks everyone!

i know i've been rather cynical and sad about being fully diagnosed in june 2025, but my boyfriend has been consistently showing me the wonderful world that is gluten free cooking and baking. in the past couple of days he's made me a gluten free rice paper-wrapped spanakopita "pastry", plus a wonderful mac and cheese bechamel-ish sauce with gluten free pasta (san remo brand if you're in australia/if you can get your hands on it wherever you are).  those meals are notably gluten free, but mainly he's been making me easy gluten free meals - chili mince with white rice and sour cream, chicken soup with homemade stock from the chicken remains, and roast chickens with rice flour gravy and roast veggies. i'm a bit too thankful and grateful lol. how lucky could i possibly be? and, of course, for those who don't have someone to cook for them, it's quite easy to learn to cook for yourself. i've been making a lot of meals for us too. honestly, cooking is pretty darn fun! knowing basic knife skills and sanitary practices are all you really need. experimenting with spices will help you get on track to creating some really flavourful and yummy dishes. coeliac is a pain, but you can use it to your advantage. healthier eating and having fun in the kitchen are major upsides. much luck to all of you! let's be healthy!

That test is saying that your daughter is not making normal amounts of any IGA antibodies.  She's not making normal amounts of antibodies against gliadin, not against bacteria, not against viruses.  She is deficient in total IGA, so the test for antigliadin antibodies is not valid.  The test was a failure.  The test only works if all different kinds of antibodies were being made.  Your daughter is not making all different kinds of antibodies, so the test results are moot.  Your daughter should have the DGP IgG and TTG IgG tests done.   The tests should be performed while she is still consuming gluten.  Stopping and restarting a gluten containing diet can make her more sick, just like you refuse to eat gluten for testing.  Call the doctor's office, request both the IGG tests. Request to be put on the cancellation list for an appointment sooner.  Ask for genetic testing.   Celiac disease is passed on from parents to children.  You and all seven children should be tested for genes for Celiac disease.  Your parents, your siblings and their children should be tested as well.  Eating gluten is not required for genetic testing because your genes don't change.  Genetic testing is not a diagnosis of Celiac disease.  Just having the genes means there is the potential of developing Celiac disease if the Celiac genes are activated.  Genetic testing helps us decide if the Celiac genes are activated when coupled with physical symptoms, antibody testing, and biopsy examination. It's frustrating when doctors get it wrong and we suffer for it.  Hang in there.  You're a good mom for pursuing this!

@hjayne19, So glad you found the information helpful.  I know how difficult my struggle with anxiety has been.  I've been finding things that helped me and sharing that with others makes my journey worthwhile. I like Life Extension Bioactive Complete B Complex.  It contains the easily activated forms of B vitamins needed by people with the MTHFR genetic variation often found with Celiac disease.   Avoid B Complex vitamins if they contain Thiamine Mononitrate if possible.  (Read the ingredients listing.)  Thiamine Mononitrate is the "shelf-stable" form of B 1 that the body can't utilize.  B vitamins breakdown when exposed to heat and light, and over time.  So "shelf-stable" forms won't breakdown sitting on a shelf in a bright store waiting to be bought.  (It's also very cheap.)  Thiamine Mononitrate is so shelf-stable that the body only absorbs about thirty percent of it, and less than that is utilized.  It takes thiamine already in the body to turn Thiamine Mononitrate into an active form.   I take MegaBenfotiamine by Life Extension.  Benfotiamine has been shown to promote intestinal healing, neuropathy, brain function, glycemic control, and athletic performance.   I take TTFD-B1 Max by Maxlife Naturals, Ecological Formulas Allthiamine (TTFD), or Thiamax by EO Nutrition.  Thiamine Tetrahydrofurfuryl Disulfide (TTFD for short) gets into the brain and makes a huge difference with the anxiety and getting the brain off the hamster wheel.  Especially when taken with Magnesium Threonate.   Any form of Thiamine needs Magnesium to make life sustaining enzymes and energy.  I like NeuroMag by Life Extension.  It contains Magnesium Threonate, a form of magnesium that easily crosses the blood brain barrier.  My brain felt like it gave a huge sigh of relief and relaxed when I started taking this and still makes a difference daily.   Other brands of supplements i like are Now Foods, Amazing Formulas, Doctor's Best, Nature's Way, Best Naturals, Thorne, EO Nutrition. Naturewise.  But I do read the ingredients labels all the time just to be sure they are gluten and dairy free. Glad to help with further questions.

Welcome to the celiac.com community @pothosqueen!   Can you be more specific about which IGA test was run that resulted in 114 score and said to be "normal" and could you please include the reference range for what would be normal? By the size of that number it looks like it may have been what we call "total IGA" but that test is not usually run without also running a TTG-IGA. Total IGA tests for IGA deficiency. If someone is IGA deficient, then the celiac-specific IGA tests like the TTG-IGA will be inaccurate. Was this the only IGA test that was run? To answer, your question, yes, a positive biopsy is normally definitive for celiac disease but there are some other medical conditions, some medications and even some food proteins in rare cases that can cause positive biopsies. But it is pretty unlikely that it is due to anything other than celiac disease.
