And yes, that car is mine as of Friday afternoon. I'm buying it in PA and I'm heading home tonight to get it. 2007 Toyota Camry, white....with a sunroof, 6 celiac disease changer....I'm excited, needless to say :)

Ooh la la, very nice. I had been wondering whether or not it was your new car or your wishing for a new car. :)

I was kind of shocked myself.

I was thinking I'd barely been contributing  .....was gonna have to start posting more often!

Have a great holiday.

Just be aware that many people will look at you very oddly when you start talking about the dingos and the spinaching and the .....:lol::lol:

Thx!! It seems 100% likely it'll be great. I'm wearing the sort of smile usually reserved for the kids running from a restroom where they've just lit and deposited a cherry bomb, or other small explosive. :) :) :)

And ya, LMAO, I may just let slip a "oops I was almost racheling those cashews" !!

At airport now yay!

Yes, my shoulder is doing quite well, I still can't seem to do weighted exercise without pain, and there are certain ways I move it that causes pain, but overall I have almost full function. At least I can dress myself, shower, and drive now. :P

I just wanted to say, don't push it on the weighted exercise. My experience was that every time I tried to do weighted exercise, I lost range of motion, especially if I wasn't having a physical therapist stretch the shoulder three times a week.

I am just now, a full year after surgery starting weighted exercise--with 1-pound weights and only one close-to-the-body exercise!

Anything that puts your arm away from your body and uses weights is going to put major stress on the shoulder. At least, that's what my current PT said. The one that loaded me up on weights ended up separating my AC joint.

I've had very good luck with swimming as long as I start out with very little without too much stretch.

It's very tricky finding a good PT, too. THere is no one set protocol, and they all have different beliefs.

I gotta get back to reading this thread--I'm so far behind, I'm never gonna catch up!

Kat, smoking less must be agreeing with you ... you wrote out your whole name!!

Sounds like you've come up with a good plan.

I'm tellin' you man, don't let that sort of thing fool you. It wasn't two hours later (just in case you didn't notice), after thinking about the effort that went into doing that, I decided to put it in my signature - in a sincere effort to avoid ever having to undertake that daunting task again.

Whew !

I'm telling you, only one day on Cipro and my stomach feels better than it has in four years. Is this possible??

Wow!!

Tom- It's NOt crazy to talk about a virtual town because (most) real towns don't have the love, support and understanding that rachelville does! Now go have FUN!

I mean really-what town can you talk about alternative uses for coffee? I just told my sister about the coffee and she LHAO. We were dying (I was exaplining the "mishap"). She told me I really should not stick things up my scat zone as it would be VERy difficult to explain at the ER

Rachel- Ditto on what you said about all the toxins and children. And then we top it off by treating the symptoms, not the cause. It scares me.

I just read the water report for our town and the lead content is 15 (ppb I think) when the acceptable amount is zero!!!!!!!!!! That in itself was a huge wake up call.

fajitas- HUG AWAY!!!!! And right back at ya!

Carla- I take theralac too. I did a month of it before starting abx. Glad her headaches are better- that's great! Tell her to hang in there. Yeah on the Cipro!!!!!!

rachel- thank you SO much for that info from your doctor's presentation- EXCELLENT!

Laura- Yeah on the car!!!!!!!

It's a big yeah!!!!

has anyone SusieQ today?

I do have some good news. Yesterday was a 5+5 (you can do the math :D ). Totally asymptomatic. I've been on the abx and supllement for three weeks as of today. I am floored. I'm thrilled but it makes me wonder if I need a higher dose

I'm due for my next herx on the 4th of July- that will be one heck of a fireworks display if it's as bad as the first one.

Should I be worried that I am already seeing major improvement?

what if I don't herx (no-it's not that I want to but I know it's part of the process)? Should I be concerned?

Hehe 'k, K.

Did I miss a story on your avatar?

Meant to tell mine already. Wish I knew something besides . . . . . . .uhhhh I like it & grabbed it online somewhere yrs ago.

Not much huh. I do wish he had tenor, not alto (or is that the old C-melody sax? Unknown w/out knowing size of mr. cool cat).

But now attempting to change my av temporarily.

Ran into a bit of a stumble in my 'perfect day'.

Original plane died or is wounded. :(

Sent to diff terminal (happily not thru security again, requiring new water toss & repurchase) and now they want volunteers to wait 1/2 a day to go, because replacement plane is smaller.

But ole tom's smilin' thru it ALL!!! :):)

I don't know about the herxes/lack of so I'll defer that to someone else.

SusieQ is doing good right now and taking it easy.

5+5=10 (Didnt even have to bust out the calculator :D )

GREAT NEWS Bev!!! :D

I hope you stay feeling this way......heck....you DESERVE lots of 5+5 days....to make up for all the ones that shoulda been 10's!! :)

Why be worried about improvement....ENJOY it!!! ;)

I dont think you should be concerned about not herxing....not everyone goes through horrible herxes. It could be a very good sign that you're body is able to rid itself of the toxins. It could be a good sign that you dont have a bunch of metals getting released when you're killing the bugs.

The coffee e's and the supplements could be helping you alot as far as detoxing. When we feel sick its always because of the toxins...so if you're getting rid of them you wont be feeling so bad...I would take it as a good sign. ;)

You could check with your Dr...see what he/she thinks. For some reason I'm thinking yours is a she...am I right??

YAY! on the great day!!!

I would worry about nothing ... if you have a great day, enjoy it. Improvement is a sign that you are improving. On good days, it's hard to imagine you will feel bad again (it's easy to forget the pain :D ), but they will come soon enough.

My ups and downs are severe. Don't worry about the herxes either ... improvement of symptoms is our goal.

Andrea...I only used tap water before I got sick...guess that could be where alot of lead and other bad stuff came from. :(

I didnt really drink water much because I pretty much lived off soda  ...but I did use ice cubes in everything....and I cooked with tap water. BOO-HOO

I saw something a few days back about some town banning bottled water....only tap water is allowed. :o

I hope nothing like that happens here...that would be a HUGE heinosity. But then again the plastics are a heinosity as well. :(

Mtndog Collaborator

Thanks everyone!

yeah- the tap water thing freaked me out. I drink it but through a Brita filter (not that's great either). I would never drink straight tap water anywhere! I boil it for iced tea etc but I don't know how much that helps. <_<

It's sad when you can't even trust water- the most essential thing to life.

Oh-my LLMD is a guy but his nurse is female and she is a hoot and FULL of info!

I grew up in Olympia WA and they still have good water.....no fluoride either. The artesian well is there, not sure I even know where it is though, but I saw it mentioned on Dr. Elizabeth's site somewhere.

The year here before the kitchen filter could have messed us up. Brita doesn't filter fluoride.

Thanks for the update Andrea.

Well, I managed to write two checks and now if I can find some blank cheques I'll write another one. I am not good with these kinds of tasks and tend to procrastinate.

We had some work done on our bathroom recently and I got a phone call from the company letting us know that the cheque was invalid because the right amount was written out but the numbers were wrong. I freely admitted to the woman I was more than capable of doing that. :o

They sent the cheque back and it was my sweetie.:lol::lol:

Rachel, just for the fun of it, go do a google search and fine the Food and Drug web site that lists the content of various soaps, cleaning supplies etc.

Then do another google serch and look up sulpher.

There is corn starch in confectionary sugar and there is sulpher in constarch. Since you got an allery to heavy metals and I bet some problems with iodine, sulpher may be lurking in the backround.

When I was first diagnosied with celiac, I was making corn starch puddings with fruit juice and it was killing me. Soaps were burning my skin. Cranberries , dates and raisins especially white raisins made me ill. I had to stay clear of all iodines in salt and sulpher which is every where. It could be the corn, but before you starve to death, do a little research.

So it could be corn, or it could be the sulpher in the corn products. Get thee. to a nutritionist who knows food products. Someone who is older and been around grocery stores for a long time.

good luck. M

Yaay - I don't know what it means, but totally asymptomatic has to be good.

Did I miss a story on your avatar?

Well, I've been thinking: What I really need is an avatar that says "ME".

It's entitled "another attempt gone bad". It's very appropriate, actually. Waikiki surf lessons October 2006.

I've decided that when we do it this year, I'll be stronger - faster (:lol: - Freudian slip - I just edited this, because I realized I typed fater - irony)- more agile. SO, in yet another attempt to accomplish things of this nature, I've been doing something about it. I've pulled out that Kick-Punch-Crunch DVD & I'm going to do it ! Really, I am.

I saw something a few days back about some town banning bottled water....only tap water is allowed. :o

Thanks....I think you may have been reading from the first post on this thread?? :)

I guess its been about 15 months since I started wondering about corn. That got ruled out and I did figure out about sulfur/sulfites some time early last year. I studied the heck out of sulfites....they're in everything.

I wasnt doing well with foods high in sulfur either. I since got diagnosed with the mercury toxicity (which I had suspected for a few years). I've had difficulities with my livers sulfation detox pathway...thanks to the mercury.

I'm not detoxing the mercury...have had all kinds of troubles with sulfur which is improving in recent months.

I only eat a handful of foods....done with all the elimination diets last year. I dont worry too much about the food intolerance anymore....its just the way it is until I can rid myself of the mercury. A nutritionist wont do a whole for me at this point but I've got some excellent specialists helping me in getting my detox pathways to start functioning again.

Then we'll be working on getting all these heavy metals and other toxins out. :)

Someone who is older and been around grocery stores for a long time.

Well I've got over 17 years in the grocery business....do I qualify?? :P:D

Rachel--24 Collaborator
It could be the corn, but before you starve to death, do a little research.

I have to admit...this sentence totally cracked me up.:lol:

Holy Heck....more research??

.....and after all this....I'm still eating 5 foods. WTH??

I guess I cant really say I'm starving though. :P

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?
    • Fayeb23
Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!
    • Scott Adams
Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
    • RMJ
To evaluate the TTG antibody result we’d need to know the normal range for that lab.  Labs don’t all use the same units.  However, based on any normal ranges that I’ve seen and the listed result being greater than a number rather than a specific number, I’d say yes, that is high! Higher than the range where the test can give a quantitative result. You got good advice not to change your diet yet.  If you went gluten free your intestines would start to heal, confusing any further testing,
    • Bev in Milw
Scott is correct….Thank you for catching that!      Direct link for info  of fillers.    http://www.glutenfreedrugs.com/Excipients.htm Link is on 2nd page  of www.glutenfreedrugs.com   Site was started by a pharmacist (or 2) maybe 15-20 yrs ago with LAST updated in  2017.  This makes it’s Drug List so old that it’s no longer relevant. Companies & contacts, along with suppliers &  sources would need to be referenced, same amount effort  as starting with current data on DailyMed      That being said, Excipient List is still be relevant since major changes to product labeling occurred prior ’17.           List is the dictionary that sources the ‘foreign-to-us’ terms used on pharmaceutical labels, terms we need to rule out gluten.    Note on DailyMed INFO— When you look for a specific drug on DailyMed, notice that nearly all of companies (brands/labels) are flagged as a ‘Repackager’… This would seem to suggest the actual ‘pills’ are being mass produced by a limited number of wholesaler suppliers (esp for older meds out of  patent protection.).      If so, multiple repackager-get  bulk shipments  from same supplier will all  be selling identical meds —same formula/fillers. Others repackager-could be switching suppliers  frequently based on cost, or runs both gluten-free & non- items on same lines.  No way to know  without contacting company.     While some I know have  searched pharmacies chasing a specific brand, long-term  solution is to find (or teach) pharmacy staff who’s willing help.    When I got 1st Rx ~8 years ago, I went to Walgreens & said I needed gluten-free.  Walked  out when pharmacist said  ‘How am I supposed  to know…’  (ar least he as honest… ). Walmart pharmacists down the block were ‘No problem!’—Once, they wouldn’t release my Rx, still waiting on gluten-free status from a new supplier. Re: Timeliness of DailyMed info?   A serendipitous conversation with cousin in Mi was unexpectedly reassuring.  She works in office of Perrigo, major products of OTC meds (was 1st to add gluten-free labels).  I TOTALLY lucked out when I asked about her job: “TODAY I trained a new full-time employee to make entries to Daily Med.’  Task had grown to hours a day, time she needed for tasks that couldn’t be delegated….We can only hope majorities of companies are as  conscientious!   For the Newbies…. SOLE  purpose of  fillers (possible gluten) in meds is to  hold the active ingredients together in a doseable form.  Drugs  given by injection or as IV are always gluten-free!  (Sometimes drs can do antibiotics w/ one-time injection rather than 7-10 days of  pills .) Liquid meds (typically for kids)—still read labels, but  could be an a simpler option for some products…
