I heard there was controversy over millet. I just found that my 'milk thistle' contains millet.

Is it safe?

From a gluten standpoint, millet is safe. Here is a list of safe foods, if you click on "millet", there is more information on the various grains--

As far as I know millet is okay. I've had it before with no problems. The only problem I can think of is cross-contamination with the flour - if the millet is ground using the same equipment as wheat.

Millet itself is fine...and good !

Millet is in no way related to wheat, and does not contain the offending protein structures. Enjoy! (it's a tasty grain!)

Below quoted about millet. It does not have gluten. However CC could be an issue depending on what food it's in and mfg process.

My milk thistle has millet and I've not had a problem (Vitamin Shoppe brand).

"Millet is highly nutritious, non-glutinous and like buckwheat and quinoa, is not an acid forming food so is soothing and easy to digest. In fact, it is considered to be one of the least allergenic and most digestible grains available and it is a warming grain so will help to heat the body in cold or rainy seasons and climates"

Thanks so much. I guess I'll go ahead and call the company. Mine is Nature's Way, I think.
