Now I've got to admit that i heard the Altoid "legend" prior to getting here, but the way I heard it, the parties involved had exchanged responsibilities...

Now who's looking for a tin?

Oh hey, look at the time, I gotta run!

Seems only fair ...

Am I the only one that has heard this version of the story?

...as a matter of fact I think it was the wife who shared the "legend" with me...

*(lightbulb goes on)*<_<

BINGO!! I explained the Altoids ummmm Legend . . . yeah, that's it . . . . legend . . . . to my husband, as well.

And yes, you're right, it's NOT just the men who think about it -- but you would need to consult our local expert, Karen, with regard to the particulars. . . . . . That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Silly friend, I mark them on my calendar PRIOR to January 1 of the next year!!!!!!! :P:lol::lol:

And yet, all it took was learning the "particulars" of Altoids that had his scrambling for his Farmer's Almanac . . . . . . . . .

Hasn't looked for one for YEARS, doesn't plant by it, whatever, but the siren song of the Altoids got yet another one . . . . . .

...see my earlier post...I've only heard my wife's version of the "legend", it seems she might have gotten the story wrong or perhaps twisted some of the facts <_< ...So I'll be in the front row for the lecture from the authority (if anybody asks, I was in the garage changing the muffler bearings)

Okay, okay, been gone all day and look at what has happened to this thread... :o:D Let's try and lure Albert back here. I want his unique perspective on mullets, astro-diapers and Altoids.

Albert? I thought it was Alfred

I'm sure Alfred can cure us of all these problems ... then we'll have to find a new way to entertain ourselves!

In the words of my favorite Wizard of Oz character, the Cowardly Lion: "Ain't it the truth . . . . Ain't it the truth."

Triticus Toxicum: Know that the reason you want a front row seat when the "Goddess of Altoids" lectures is so that your wife MAY not have clued you in to ALL of the particulars, eh? (Sound Canadian, don't I?? Yeah, right!)

Also . . . . I DO NOT recommend the cinnamon ones. To ANYONE. 'nuff said.

Okay, given that I have eye difficulties from this gluten, I have to tell this: there was a large advertisement for Gluten Free Cheesecakes next to the frame of my post. Because cheesecakes didn't fit on one line, the "es" was on a line below. It messed with my eyes, and I saw "Gluten Fried Cheesecakes" . . . I thought -- what in the H*ll is Scott letting something like that advertise on this site!!!!!

The google ads are out side of Scotts conrtol. Its a reason why many ppl dont like them. So you could actually see somthing there like that some day....

Well, just so you know, the lecture is not an "inter-active" one. No demonstrations!

Oh, and Wintergreen is the way to go!

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
