...Yes...we do...and in light of all that is being debated in a masterly fashion here, and all of the linguists present (cunning and otherwise), hiding out in shrubbery brief-waving, let's not mention the root of Bev's name...me does think the ice gets just TOO thin here.:lol:

Nikki, is your name Nicole?

So, gluten-filled food is a celiac's pornography...I'm with ya there. There is a LOT of porn out there for me, being diabetic as well. Virtually ALL desserts. In fact, most food is vaguely pornographic for me, now that I ponder it all. I tell ya, going to the grocery store can be quite...exciting... ;):P

How raunchy!!!

....and we KNOW what Bev's name means in old English!

Do tell, Nikki :D

OMG - - - now we ARE going to get in trouble! CHILDREN!!! Behave thyselves!! if Scott happens to read THOSE POSTS we are BUSTED and SHUT DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o:lol::ph34r:

But all I was saying is that if Tom wasn't always arguing, he'd have found a woman ... how did you take it?

Do we need to delete now that all of us have seen it?

It's true--if it weren't for Tom's tendency toward argumentative discourse, he would, we're sure, have found his soul mate by now. That is all you were saying, Carla...what on earth am I missing? <_<

Must go get some....groceries now.....pant pant..

But all I was saying is that if Tom wasn't always arguing, he'd have found a woman ...

That's her story & she's stickin' to it!

And I do NOT! <yes u do!> Do Not! <uh-huh u do> NOT! <do!> . . . . . ..

At a fantastic groc store here called Sprouts, I got in an impassioned argument w/ the cashier yesterday.

I swear I didn't start it!!

SHE said "how are u?" and I said "Fantastic! How are u today?", and we "argued" about who felt *more* fantastic!! LMAO :lol:

So darn this argumentative nature!! Cuz certainly 10 days of being physically well enough to get de-spinached from the recliner should be enough to find a girlfirend!!

Are we editing or was there an overreaction, perhaps too much AC, depriving a typically heat-addled, baked & braised brain of its RDA of cranial cookery?

CarlaB Enthusiast
And I do NOT! <yes u do!> Do Not! <uh-huh u do> NOT! <do!> . . . . . ..

Yet another double entendre.

See what we mean, fine moderators? SO argumentative! We rest our case...

Tom's not a moderator ... but come to think of it, he should be, then need more non-Lymie mods here. :) For that matter, you should be, too. :)

elye Community Regular

Yep, I know Tom's not a mod...I was addressing the genuine mods, who would then report to Scott, etc., etc.

We need more non-Lymie mods? Do they all have lyme disease, or are they all from my Motherland?

Yup, though I do consume more than my fair share of limes ... I like it better in water than lemon, and lemon/lime helps with herxing.

Well, I was looking for a guy when I was about 18. :P Met hubby at 18 ... he was the second guy I dated ... dated three guys total. :o

:o:blink: Utterly, gob-smackingly, heartbreakingly inconCEIvable!!!!!! I cna't even COUNT the number of guys I"ve dated......and I don't mean had relationships with - just dated. Because, I've been dating for 30 years, and never been married...... It's insane, I tell you. I blame it all on GLUTEN-BRAIN.

So, gluten-filled food is a celiac's pornography...I'm with ya there. There is a LOT of porn out there for me, being diabetic as well. Virtually ALL desserts. In fact, most food is vaguely pornographic for me, now that I ponder it all. I tell ya, going to the grocery store can be quite...exciting... ;):P

 My food-porn lust is ONLY on cooking shows, EXCEPT when I walk through the bread and muffin and cake section at Trader Joe's.....then I get a bit of a stab and stare lustfully at new products I've never had, and never will have....like, for example, they now have Naan bread - - a new thing that stopped me in my tracks for a bit... :(

But all I was saying is that if Tom wasn't always arguing, he'd have found a woman ... how did you take it?

Do we need to delete now that all of us have seen it?

 is Carla teasing us again or did she not say "master debater" quickly to herself?:ph34r:

Okay friends.......TOO MUCH to do today, getting ready for camping!! I am flummoxed by what foodstuffs to bring (I have a whole thread started on this) and I am a wildly disorganized camping packer so......oh dear gawd, this should be interesting. Good thing I found my camping list......makes things a bit easier. Because, without that, I could easily forget my tent, or a dingo, or something important.

CARRY ON SILLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yet another double entendre.

Whoa "Marbles" . . . . .how? It was about "always arguing" or not.

There's that jar-emptying one-track mind at work, huh? :P

Tom's not a moderator ... but come to think of it, he should be, . . .

Now if THAT's not worth an  I don't know what is!

I'm sure I prefer the freedom to potentially make statements that a moderator shouldn't.

Recently, in a thread about a bs product, a presumably somewhat-young forum member labeled my comments a "bashing" of her(him? Hmmm prob a her).

I refrained from inquiring about just *how new* someone has to be to the internet to keep calling my VERY toned-down comments a "bashing".

Sure a couple jokes poked fun at the foolishness of claiming that a product "works" because "no cc reaction" while admitting there was also most likely no cc to react to, but if she'd gotten a "bashing", it would be abhorringly apparrent. ;)

I doubt I'd have been free to make my point as well as I think any newbie readers need to see it, if I'd had to think "how should a mod put this?". :P

Mmmmm, I've often thought having both conditions must be VERY hard and kind of takes all the fun out of food MORE SO than just celiac disease does. <_<

Do tell, Nikki :D

I can't Patti , for fear of getting busted by double entendre police!!!

.like, for example, they now have Naan bread - - a new thing that stopped me in my tracks for a bit...

Ahhh, Naan bread....still gets hubby all wistful too (although he did experience it in a former life)

Okay friends.......TOO MUCH to do today, getting ready for camping!!

Happy camping!! (watch them ticks! :o ....no room for anymore lymies here)

Um, yeah, debating, arguing, whatever.

One track mind ... much to my husband's chagrin, it's not.

Why do you keep calling me Marbles? I don't have any marbles anymore.

I'm sure I prefer the freedom to potentially make statements that a moderator shouldn't.

Yes, you can see the mods are really worried about this ... take Bev, for example. Also, you might look up the famous Altoids thread ... where is Karen anyway, she's usually here when there's mention of Altoids.

CarlaB Enthusiast
 is Carla teasing us again or did she not say "master debater" quickly to herself?:ph34r:

Nope, that would have been grammatically incorrect ... I thought about using the word "debating" though.

Yup, went out with a guy in high school ... then dated Adam for a month, until I decided he was a pompous @$$ ... went out with another guy for a month ... then a year later back to Adam ... and, yes, he's still an @$$, but he's not pompous.

Anyone else was just a date for a dance type thing.

So, it's equally odd to me to think about having dated so many!

I've often wondered if we CAN look up the Altoids thread, as it was pulled from the forum. Does it still exist in some nether region that we have access to?

Not true, here it is. Open Original Shared Link .... but there seems to be some major editing ... and the link to the Altoids Goddess thread is gone entirely ... so maybe it is just an urban legend now.

Like you've never heard of a giant of a man nicknamed Tiny or Slim? ;)

Don't tell me the opposite type of nickname is just a guy thing!

Now THIS is a strange & funny coincidence. :o I'm driving, w/ radio on, and Phx stations suck like most everywhere else, so I'm on an oldies station.

A certain Elton John hit circa 1972 is rockin' along when I read this Susie post. (At a stoplight! I'm not a moron!)

:o:blink: Utterly, gob-smackingly, heartbreakingly inconCEIvable!!!!!! I can't even COUNT the number of guys I"ve dated......

I'll bet most everyone can fill in the blank.

Song goes:

"Oh lawdy mama! Those Friday nights,

when Susie wore her dresses tight!

More at bottom if anyone dingo-ing what song.

(The 1st part reminds me of the great character in The Princess Bride who had a lisp, or a "lithp".)

"InconTHEivable!!"

 My food-porn lust is ONLY on cooking shows,

Yes. It's only the food-lust that defines the term for me. With all of my slowly-lifting WAYYYYY- beyond-gluten-free restrictions, even gluten-free food is lustworthy. <_<

Okay friends.......TOO MUCH to do today, getting ready for camping!! I am flummoxed by what foodstuffs to bring (I have a whole thread started on this)

I gotta toss a couple Tsk's your way for not mentioning CAMPING!! here before the new thread.

It's been some time since I got to go camping.

I think you'll figure out the food easily enough after writing a few things down.

In the old days, I'd be making sure to have mushroom omelets at some point. Mmmmm, like the one's at Merlin's in Orlando. Nothing like 'em when out in the wilderness. (Back then anyway, no fungus for me now thank u, for all reasons)

******Niiiiiiiii-Coe-Laaaaaa!!!! ******* :P

Curiouser & curiouser about this Altoids thread.

So it's readable but best posts removed? Bah!

Yeah, I wouldn't even bother checking it out now. Thinking back, I actually can't believe some of the things I was talking about in my posts on that...unforgettable...thread. I also remember my surprise that it was being allowed to go on for as long as it did.

I guess ya just had to be there. 'Cause there sure ain't no way we'd be allowed to rehash it all!

Yes.  I have had the tmj condition for 40 years. My only help was strictly following celiac and also eliminating soy.  Numerous dental visits and several professionally made bite plates  did very little to help with symptoms

Cristiana makes a good point and it's something I've pointed out at different times on the forum. Not all of our ailments as those with celiac disease are necessarily tied to it. Sometimes we need to look outside the celiac box and remember we are mortal humans just like those without celiac disease.

Also suffer badly with gluten and TMJD, cutting out gluten has been a game changer, seems to be micro amounts, much less than 20ppm.  Anyone else have issues with other food stuffs? Soy (tofu) and/or milk maybe causing TMJD flare-ups, any suggestions or ideas? --- I'm beginning to think it maybe crops that are grown or cured with glyphosphate. Oats, wheat, barley, soy, lentils, peas, chickpeas, rice, and buckwheat, almonds, apples, cherries, apricots, grapes, avocados, spinach, and pistachios.

Hi @Scatterbrain Thank you for your reply.   Some of these things could be weaknesses, also triggered by stress, which perhaps have come about as the result of long-term deficiencies which can take a long time to correct.   Some could be completely unrelated. If it is of help, I'll tell you some of the things that started in the first year or two, following my diagnosis - I pinned everything on coeliac disease, but it turns out I wasn't always right!  Dizziness, lightheaded - I was eventually diagnosed with cervical dizziness (worth googling, could be your issue too, also if you have neck pain?)  A few months after diagnosis I put my neck out slightly carrying my seven-year-old above my head, and never assigned any relevance to it as the pain at the time was severe but so short-lived that I'd forgotten the connection. Jaw pain - stress. Tinnitus - I think stress, but perhaps exacerbated by iron/vitamin deficiencies. Painful ribs and sacroiliac joints - no idea, bloating made the pain worse. It got really bad but then got better. Irregular heart rate - could be a coincidence but my sister (not a coeliac) and I both developed this temporarily after our second Astra Zeneca covid jabs.   Subsequent Pfizer jabs didn't affect us. Brain fog - a big thing for people with certain autoimmune issues but in my case I think possibly worse when my iron or B12 are low, but I have no proof of this. Insomnia - stress, menopause. So basically, it isn't always gluten.  It might be worth having your vitamins and mineral levels checked, and if you have deficiencies speak to your Dr about how better to address them?

@NanceK, I do have Hypersensitivity Type Four reaction to Sulfa drugs, a sulfa allergy.  Benfotiamine and other forms of Thiamine do not bother me at all.  There's sulfur in all kinds of Thiamine, yet our bodies must have it as an essential nutrient to make life sustaining enzymes.  The sulfur in thiamine is in a ring which does not trigger sulfa allergy like sulfites in a chain found in pharmaceuticals.  Doctors are not given sufficient education in nutrition (nor chemistry in this case).  I studied Nutrition before earning a degree in Microbiology.  I wanted to know what vitamins were doing inside the body.   Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.   Not feeling well after starting Benfotiamine is normal.  It's called the "thiamine paradox" and is equivalent to an engine backfiring if it's not been cranked up for a while.  Mine went away in about three days.  I took a B Complex, magnesium and added molybdenum for a few weeks. It's important to add a B Complex with all eight essential B vitamins. Supplementing just one B vitamin can cause lows in some of the others and result in feeling worse, too.  Celiac Disease causes malabsorption of all the B vitamins, not just thiamine.  You need all eight.  Thiamine forms including Benfotiamine interact with each of the other B vitamins in some way.  It's important to add a magnesium glycinate or chelate supplement as well.  Forms of Thiamine including Benfotiamine need magnesium to make those life sustaining enzymes.  (Don't use magnesium oxide.  It's not absorbed well.  It pulls water into the intestines and is used to relieve constipation.)   Molybdenum is a trace mineral that helps the body utilize forms of Thiamine.   Molybdenum supplements are available over the counter.  It's not unusual to be low in molybdenum if low in thiamine.   I do hope you will add the necessary supplements and try Benfotiamine again. Science-y Explanation of Thiamine Paradox: https://hormonesmatter.com/paradoxical-reactions-with-ttfd-the-glutathione-connection/#google_vignette
