Jin, I think you might have asked on the OMG thread, but since the hair discussion is here .... I think it is mainly a lighting issue ... it was blonde and dark this time and was last time. I have a little more blonde, but only in places you couldn't see in the previous avatar since it was such a close up. I still have the dark, but it was a much brighter place.

I dated a guy who looked like a cross between John Stamos and Charlie Sheen ... really good looking guy. :)

Tom, do you really want to know if the gentle glide are gentler??? I don't think you do .... I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt.

Now we know why Patti likes Halloween. :)

Okay, okay okay...we do NOT have the Gentle Glider classification here in Canada. I know this, because I have travelled the country and likely shopped for these things in each province. Now why is that? Alex, have you seen these anywhere up here? Canadian women would appreciate gently gliding things as much as in any other country. Nikki, are they available in the UK? When I was over there I did NOT see them, nor in Paris...strictly an American thing? Man, we likely need a gentle glider more than anybody else, as it can be bloody cold through winter...And we could advertise MUCH better up here..."I'm an active woman, and I need the Gentle Glider," says a robust Canadian woman as she glides down a ski hill. :lol:

Yes- I know what a GENTLE GLIDE TAMPON IS. I'm a GIRL you goof (Tom) what I meant was I didn't know how King Richard knew. But not he has explained himself.

Hee hee!!!!!!!!!! When I was on my honeymonn in Costa rica I was accompanied by my friend which was NOT due anytime soon (I was told that getting closer to the equator whacks your body out :huh: ). Unfortunately the owner of the inn's wife was preggers at the time so no supplies so they sent Roberto out for "supplies". Try being SPECIFIC in espanol :o

I've heard of the gentle glide ones ... they've also changed the regular ones here ... Morgan and I are both upset they took the string out of the paper overwrap ... they're much more difficult to open. :P

No no no!! . . ...the angle I was interested in is whether it's another bloody obvious (to the women) marketing ploy thought up by a man.

(There'd been something similar discussed on OMG quite a while back, in which I was surprised at the unanimity of disgust at some tv comm'l)

At the risk of revealing too much personal information, I can vouch for the fact that the gentle glide are more gentle.

And the cardboard applicators are HEINOUS.

I'm a cardboard girl myself. You just flush it away...gone forever, and totally biodegradable. Don't find it pinchy. So, are the Gentle Gliders (sounds like a freaking Olympic syncronized swim team) cardboard or plasic? Bev, did Roberto find you gliders in Costa Rica?

Me, too, but I've clogged too many plumbing pipes with the applicators, so stopped trying to flush them about 20 years ago!

That was the one thing my mom harped about the most when we lived at home. My sisters and I all used tampons, religously. My moms biggest thing was they are not flushable even if the box says they are.

Yeah, the most mortifying time was when I was staying at my step-aunt's while my mom and step-father were gone. I flushed ... I even waiting till it discintegrated ... a few minuted later, the ceiling started leaking in the first-floor dining room out of where the light fixture was. I don't know if they ever figured out what caused it, but based on the timing, it was apparent that I had. :ph34r: It was a newly-renovated historic house.

Choosing A Wife

A man wanted to get married. He was having trouble choosing

among three likely candidates. He gives each woman a present of $5,000 and watches to see what they do with the money.

The first does a total make over. She goes to a fancy beauty salon gets her hair done, new make up and buys several new outfits and dresses up very nicely for the man. She tells him that she has done this to be more attractive for him because she loves him so much.

The man was impressed.

The second goes shopping to buy the man gifts. She gets him a new set of golf clubs, some new gizmos for his computer, and some expensive clothes. As she presents these gifts, she tells him that she has spent all the money on him because she loves him so much.

Again, the man is impressed.

The third invests the money in the stock market. She earns several times the $5,000. She gives him back his $5,000 and reinvests the remainder in a joint account. She tells him that she wants to save for their future because she loves him so much.

Obviously, the man was impressed.

The man thought for a long time about what each woman had done with the money he'd given her.

Then, he married the one with the biggest boobs.

Men are like that,

There is more money being spent on breast implants and Viagra today than on Alzheimer's research. This means that by 2040, there should be a large elderly population with perky boobs and huge erections and absolutely no recollection of what to do with them. :D

      Yes. I have had the tmj condition for 40 years. My only help was strictly following celiac and also eliminating soy. Numerous dental visits and several professionally made bite plates did very little to help with symptoms

      Cristiana makes a good point and it's something I've pointed out at different times on the forum. Not all of our ailments as those with celiac disease are necessarily tied to it. Sometimes we need to look outside the celiac box and remember we are mortal humans just like those without celiac disease.

      Also suffer badly with gluten and TMJD, cutting out gluten has been a game changer, seems to be micro amounts, much less than 20ppm. Anyone else have issues with other food stuffs? Soy (tofu) and/or milk maybe causing TMJD flare-ups, any suggestions or ideas? --- I'm beginning to think it maybe crops that are grown or cured with glyphosphate...

Some of these things could be weaknesses, also triggered by stress, which perhaps have come about as the result of long-term deficiencies which can take a long time to correct. Some could be completely unrelated. If it is of help, I'll tell you some of the things that started in the first year or two...

Oats, wheat, barley, soy, lentils, peas, chickpeas, rice, and buckwheat, almonds, apples, cherries, apricots, grapes, avocados, spinach, and pistachios.

If it is of help, I'll tell you some of the things that started in the first year or two, following my diagnosis - I pinned everything on coeliac disease, but it turns out I wasn't always right!  Dizziness, lightheaded - I was eventually diagnosed with cervical dizziness (worth googling, could be your issue too, also if you have neck pain?)  A few months after diagnosis I put my neck out slightly carrying my seven-year-old above my head, and never assigned any relevance to it as the pain at the time was severe but so short-lived that I'd forgotten the connection. Jaw pain - stress. Tinnitus - I think stress, but perhaps exacerbated by iron/vitamin deficiencies. Painful ribs and sacroiliac joints - no idea, bloating made the pain worse. It got really bad but then got better. Irregular heart rate - could be a coincidence but my sister (not a coeliac) and I both developed this temporarily after our second Astra Zeneca covid jabs.   Subsequent Pfizer jabs didn't affect us. Brain fog - a big thing for people with certain autoimmune issues but in my case I think possibly worse when my iron or B12 are low, but I have no proof of this. Insomnia - stress, menopause. So basically, it isn't always gluten.  It might be worth having your vitamins and mineral levels checked, and if you have deficiencies speak to your Dr about how better to address them?

      @NanceK, I do have Hypersensitivity Type Four reaction to Sulfa drugs, a sulfa allergy.  Benfotiamine and other forms of Thiamine do not bother me at all.  There's sulfur in all kinds of Thiamine, yet our bodies must have it as an essential nutrient to make life sustaining enzymes.  The sulfur in thiamine is in a ring which does not trigger sulfa allergy like sulfites in a chain found in pharmaceuticals.  Doctors are not given sufficient education in nutrition (nor chemistry in this case).  I studied Nutrition before earning a degree in Microbiology.  I wanted to know what vitamins were doing inside the body.   Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.   Not feeling well after starting Benfotiamine is normal.  It's called the "thiamine paradox" and is equivalent to an engine backfiring if it's not been cranked up for a while.  Mine went away in about three days.  I took a B Complex, magnesium and added molybdenum for a few weeks. It's important to add a B Complex with all eight essential B vitamins. Supplementing just one B vitamin can cause lows in some of the others and result in feeling worse, too.  Celiac Disease causes malabsorption of all the B vitamins, not just thiamine.  You need all eight.  Thiamine forms including Benfotiamine interact with each of the other B vitamins in some way.  It's important to add a magnesium glycinate or chelate supplement as well.  Forms of Thiamine including Benfotiamine need magnesium to make those life sustaining enzymes.  (Don't use magnesium oxide.  It's not absorbed well.  It pulls water into the intestines and is used to relieve constipation.)   Molybdenum is a trace mineral that helps the body utilize forms of Thiamine.   Molybdenum supplements are available over the counter.  It's not unusual to be low in molybdenum if low in thiamine.   I do hope you will add the necessary supplements and try Benfotiamine again.
