I personally am a peanut.

Just don't be a chickpea. I hate those things.

I don't think chickpeas are nuts ... for that matter, neither are peanuts!

Yeah, it will be scary!

My brain has not returned .... parts of it have, but the rest is still gone. But I've been on Mino for a couple weeks now, so maybe soon. :)

Janet, WHAT in the world is your daughter doing in your avatar? It looks very industrious! She looks sooo much like you.

Why, she's measuring (fake) dinosaur bones, of course. If you could see the picture full size, you might be able to read the sign that says "dinosaur research". The paleontologist caption was suppose to be a hint. Not too much longer and you'll be in the 501 club. Here's a suggestion to boost your numbers, you wait for Tom to post (preferably on the OMG thread) and then you reply with a "hmmm, that's interesting".

You know, I did see the caption, and thought, Cool. Then I looked at the picture, and it looks like she's woodworking with a lathe or something. Me, peering at computer screen---->

I think I am here to stay. God help us all (especially me :o ).

Ahhh, Peter!! I hope you can handle it! We females on this thread are a fearsome lot. The guys seem to be able to handle it for only short periods of time. Then they must retreat to catch their breath and gather their wits! Richard has been missing in action for several days now. Tom's been working on gathering his wits but apparently, he has packed them in several different boxes for his move and failed to label them appropriately!

Oh . . . by the way . . . no need to tell Scott anything. We're trying to keep a low profile here. On the other hand, if you do talk to Scott, ask him how come he hasn't answered my Green Guy emoticon thread.

I guess Scott thinks there are enough moderators participating in this thread that he doesn't have to check up on us!

Do you think he reads it anonymously?

Yeah, I still want that green guy. We totally NEED that emoticon. It's necessary for our expressive therapy.

Maybe he is actually participating!! Maybe he has a fake/second member ID so that he can participate in some of the threads!! Maybe Sarah isn't really Sarah . . . hmmm? :o Maybe Emily is Scott - she would have gotten some advice from her dad on how to play a different character - no wait, that's not right. If Emily is Scott, then Emily's dad wouldn't be giving Scott advice!! I'VE GOT IT! Emily isn't Scott! Scott is Emily! Emily is the board administrator! Emily, why won't you give us a green guy emoticon?!!

So many quotations have stayed with me over the years, and it's impossible to pick a favorite. The wittiest, I think, was by (who else?) my hero, Winston Churchill:

Ending a sentence with a preposition is something up with which I will not put.

:

I love Churchill so much..........have pages of his quotes.......and the most charming books of his paintings......and several biographies. Wonder if I"ll finish one of them, ever?

You are all absolutely nuts. I guess that is why I fit in here. LOL. My dry sense of humoUr often gets lost in the written word, so to avoid p*ssing people off I am careful about what I write online.

Who is looking after the Yeti? I found something in my yard today. DNA testing is beyond my means, but I wonder? Should I treat is as something sacred, or just compost it?

oh my gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawd!!!!!!!!!! We've got Peter!!!!!!!! he's one of us, why look, he's even using the superfluous "U" properly!!!!!!!!!! and speaking of practicalities, like DNA testing of possible magical scat in his back yard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh this pleases me to no end.....................

Peter, I think you are the only one who has read every word since pg 202!

:o the HELL you say!!!!!!!!!!

I actually DO read all the words. remember, I have no life.

I've been pacing around, unable to get my breakfast down....the true identity of Scott...Hmmm. This is troublesome, as I think of the past weeks and how my dad has seemed...well, different. Trying to...moderate...edit...control things. Correcting me on a medical point, criticising when I emoticize too much...And what's with his sudden need for me to log in with a password before I go into their apartment?! Could it be....

He's done it yet again??

I have no life either .... it's the lack of brain, however, that doesn't allow me to read it all! :D I know, I know, it's not supposed to make sense .... but it gets really confusing sometimes!

What?!? Act natural?!? Do any of us know how to do that?:lol:

I have to agree with Carla, normal is not something I think I can manage :)

I'd go with a vodka tonic, but that's just me😉

That and my nutritionist also said that drinking cider is one of the worst drink choices for me, given that I have candida overgrowth.  She said the combination of the alcohol and sugar would be very likely to worsen my candida problem.  She suggested that if I drink, I go for clear vodka, either neat or with a splash of cranberry.   So in summary, I am giving ciders a rest.  Whether it's a gluten risk or sugars and yeast overgrowth, its just not worth it.

While plain, pure tea leaves (black, green, or white) are naturally gluten-free, the issue often lies not with the tea itself but with other ingredients or processing. Many flavored teas use barley malt or other gluten-containing grains as a flavoring agent, which would be clearly listed on the ingredient label. Cross-contamination is another possibility, either in the facility where the tea is processed or, surprisingly, from the tea bag material itself—some tea bags are sealed with a wheat-based glue. Furthermore, it's important to consider that your reaction could be to other substances in tea, such as high levels of tannins, which can be hard on the stomach, or to natural histamines or other compounds that can cause a non-celiac immune response. The best way to investigate is to carefully read labels for hidden ingredients, try switching to a certified gluten-free tea brand that uses whole leaf or pyramid-style bags, and see if the reaction persists.

This is a challenging and confusing situation. The combination of a positive EMA—which is a highly specific marker rarely yielding false positives—alongside strongly elevated TTG on two separate occasions, years apart, is profoundly suggestive of celiac disease, even in the absence of biopsy damage. This pattern strongly aligns with what is known as "potential celiac disease," where the immune system is clearly activated, but intestinal damage has not yet become visible under the microscope. Your concern about the long-term risk of continued gluten consumption is valid, especially given your family's experience with the consequences of delayed diagnosis. Since your daughter is now at an age where her buy-in is essential for a gluten-free lifestyle, obtaining a definitive answer is crucial for her long-term adherence and health. Given that she is asymptomatic yet serologically positive, a third biopsy now, after a proper 12-week challenge, offers the best chance to capture any microscopic damage that may have developed, providing the concrete evidence needed to justify the dietary change. This isn't about wanting her to have celiac; it's about wanting to prevent the insidious damage that can occur while waiting for symptoms to appear, and ultimately giving her the unambiguous "why" she needs to accept and commit to the necessary treatment. This article might be helpful. It breaks down each type of test, and what a positive results means in terms of the probability that you might have celiac disease. One test that always needs to be done is the IgA Levels/Deficiency Test (often called "Total IGA") because some people are naturally IGA deficient, and if this is the case, then certain blood tests for celiac disease might be false-negative, and other types of tests need to be done to make an accurate diagnosis. The article includes the "Mayo Clinic Protocol," which is the best overall protocol for results to be ~98% accurate.
