Okay, guys,

I'm soooooo sad....I'm about to miss yet another run for the crown. :( I've been putting up a good college try to stay up for the big flipover, but my little bed is calling me, and my head keeps dropping down to my chest as I try to keep my eyes open. All Hail, Forthcoming Regeant!!!

Night night, to the rest of you plebians....... ;):D

(Unless Nascar connections count. Everybody in NC has those. )

Sure they count! (As if being close to Mayberry weren't enough!!! )

Martinsville has a track doesn't it?

Some distant relative drives the Tar-zhay (tar-jay?) car in Nascar. No wins yet but he's only 21.

I'll assume it's a pretty piddly connection by NC standards.

P.S. Am I REthroned w/ this post?

Terrifying Breaking News

tonight my neighbors and I had a little gathering in my living room, to talk about our situation with those kids. My disabled neighbor told us something scary...the other night the kids were standing on their front porch and her kitchen window sits off this stoop. It was 2am. So all the lights were off. She had heard voices so she crept into the kitchen and listened....what they talked about scared her. They were talking about firebombing cars, beating someone up, killing people, blaming their crimes on others, having aylabis (spelling?) She couldnt call anyone since she didnt have a phone. They only have a cell phone in her apartment and her daugther was working late and had it....

We are dealing with much worse than we first thought.

:o

That's really scary that your neighbor is there by herself without a phone.

Random thing I feel the need to suggest:

They have really good Virgin Mobile pay as you go phones at Target for $20. Maybe she could get one so she's a little safer?

Ok all, thanks for the warm wishes. I believe she is going to talk to someone tomorrow....How nutsy is that...so scary too! If you ever saw where I lived you would not believe this could happen here.

It is nice to have the neighbors I have we look out for each other.

Send the Yeti our way we can use him!!!

For some reason, I never count Mayberry. I guess I've been close to it for too long. I go to Mt. Airy because it's got the closest Wal-mart. I worked at the Mayberry Blockbuster when I was in college.

Martinsville- yup. You're related to Reed Sorenson? That's not too piddly- it's an actual blood relation. No relation is too distant in the south. You're approved. B)

She is on disability, and lives pay check to pay check, her daughter lives with her. The woman has a cell phone but her daugther was traveling this weekend. So the cell phone went with her.

We did decided on always knowing if she will be alone without the phone on a weekend.

Excellent idea! If I had a neighboUr like that, I would pay for her phone myself. It would mean someone watching over my place when I'm not there.

Night Sillies. Got a big day of shopping at Lowes tomorrow and layin' supplies for the big winter storm. Keep your fingers crossed for a snow day on Friday!

Ridgewalker Contributor

They were indeed chocolate chip- good call guys- and according to Luke, they were still gooey when he ate them. :D

My only current goal is to outlaw explosive body fluids for at least 24 hours! :yawwwwn: BTW, I was wrong about Ezra's strep. It's yet ANOTHER sinus infection. This one is so bad that the drainage caused a rash of bumps in his throat.

Since he had a fairly high fever all last night, and I did not sleep-- WHY am I still up!?!?!?! -- but is a lovely 98.7 tonight... I'm off to bed too.

Night everybody!

Janet we are expecting an ice storm Friday. I am not looking forward to it.

Wish I could've commented all day, but most of the reading was at stoplights!

And (yay!) shot hoops today for a while. Yup . .. .nice sunny day. No thundersnow & no earthquake.

Yes....my children know all about this hilarious development in Sillyville, and my son apparently took the story to school with him, and shared it with his classmates in circle time. Oh, Gawd....

"My mom knows these other celiacs, and talks to them on the internet. They are keeping count of their farts for 12 hours, and reporting their number to each other throughout the day". OMG OMG. I have a meeting there today at three.:lol:

Anyone there ask for a current subtotal?

Just thought I would tattle on Mango . . .

<emily said claptrap!>

I thought maybe she was trying to simulate caligraphy or something . . . . . . at a minimum, implying that her pharts are prettier than ours.

Morning, Everybodyyyyy....

we have a new monarch!! A Thousand Hails to thou, Queen Sarah! I am sorry to hear that our Prince Ezra has some nasty sinus stuff happening..we must send the private royal doctor at once!

Wanted to get on here early to say good morning to you, Amanda, and catch up on all that transpired last night. Hope the police have their radars up for you guys, and will be ready to pounce if anything else transpires. Keep starin' them down, brave girl! :)

My only current goal is to outlaw explosive body fluids for at least 24 hours!

The Queen Speaketh, and she maketh terrific proclamations...How about taking the Phart Charts down to zero, across the land? To include the spouses of all subjects.....

My meeting at Jack's school was put off until this afternoon (looks like I'll be teaching some art there--yippeeee!), but DS has told me that there has been great interest generated within the math department in regards to our intricate....charting and graphing. This is a Montessori school, so they take each and every opportunity to learn, to form life lessons from the most ordinary of things....

Stay tuned...you have all been warned...:lol:

Morning All,

Hi Emily-well indeed it was a quiet night, I actually got sleep and stayed asleep all night with just one sleeping pill! I am not sure if the cops are hiding undercover but hopefully they catch those kids soon. My neighbor said the kids were not there at all, so the cops were maybe letting the mother (who is a HUGE Airhead) know the seriousness of the situation?? If I have to take a gander.

The pow-wow I had with my neighbors in my living room gave us all a chance to vent and to make a plan for each other. When my disabled woman told us of their talks outside, fire bombs and pinning crimes on others, even having a cover-person at a hospital somewhere....well that is scary, I don't know what to go through next. This has taken on a new level now, those things they talked about were things I never thought about....unimaginable things....its put a whole new world of worry into your mind.

Oh and they smoke pot openly outside...how dumb can you be? Especially if one is on probation....After all that they should be caught....just for being stupid!

Hi, thank you for the reply. Unfortunately, no other antibody tests were ordered. I am a 32-year-old male. About two months ago, I ate pancakes and then developed severe diarrhea that lasted the entire day. At night, I became unconscious due to fluid loss and was admitted to the ER, where I received IV fluids. Two days later, I ate bread again and once more developed severe diarrhea. I ended up in the ER again and received IV fluids. In my country, Pakistan, doctors are unfortunately not very thorough, so they treated me for a stomach infection. I visited three or four doctors, including a gastroenterologist, but it seemed like they just wanted to keep me on medications and IV fluids. Eventually, I did some digging myself and started connecting the dots. For years, I’ve had excessive gas buildup and frequent loose stools, but I never paid much attention to it. I also cannot easily digest dairy products. Two years ago, I had a CBC test that showed iron deficiency. My doctor told me to eat more meat and said it was nothing serious. However, for the past five years, I’ve also had severe motion sickness, which I never experienced before. Whenever I get on a bus or in a car, I sometimes lose consciousness for 10–20 seconds and wake up sweaty, and occasionally I feel the need to vomit. After more research on the internet, I came across gluten and celiac disease, so I got two related tests (TTG-IgA & TTG IgG) done along with a stool test and another CBC. The stool test showed weakly positive blood. Ever since eating those pancakes and bread, I’ve had a burning sensation in my gut. My doctor reviewed my tests, he told me to completely stop eating gluten and started me on IV fluids for 20 days, saying that I had severe inflammation in my gut. It has now been two months since I quit gluten, and I’m still not sure whether this is celiac disease or gluten intolerance. I don’t really trust doctors in Pakistan, so I thought I might get some help here.

Welcome to the celiac.com community, @SamAlvi! Were there any other antibody tests ordered? Particularly, was there a "total IGA" test ordered to check for IGA deficiency. When people are IGA deficient, celiac panel IGA test scores, such as the TTG-IGA, are likely not valid. If a total IGA test was not ordered, I would request such to be done. Note: "Total IGA" goes by other names as well. I will include a primer on celiac disease antibody testing which does a good job in covering the nomenclature variations connected with the various tests. Elevated IGG scores can certainly indicate celiac disease but they are more likely than elevated IGA tests to be caused by something else.

Thank you— yes, valid and essential— The issue either doctors is that every one I have tried to talk to about this has essentially rolled their eyes and dismissed me as a hypochondriac, which gets discouraging. I believe a diagnosis would help me to be taken seriously by doctors as well as being validating, but can carry on without it.    There are many, probably most people in my area of my age and gender, who avoid gluten, but many just avoid it casually— eating the occasional plate of wheat pasta or a delicious-looking dessert, or baking cookies with wheat flour for gatherings.  That is not an option for me. I don’t eat other people’s cooking or go to restaurants that do not have strict cross- contamination procedures. It can be boring and lonely, and people do look at me as if I am being a bit dramatic but weeks of symptoms after a single small exposure has taught me to respect my experience.    Thank you very much for your response— sometimes I just need to hear that I am not crazy—
    • lalan45
You’re not crazy—some people have severe neurological and physical reactions to gluten, not just digestive issues. While testing can be tricky without eating gluten, documenting symptoms and seeing a specialist familiar with atypical celiac or gluten-related disorders can help. Your reactions are real, and it’s valid to be cautious.
