He will certainly let me know. This is the cat that will jump up and pee on my bed while I'm in it if he thinks I've done something unforgivable (like pet the other cat).

Wow....make sure you treat him well....you never know what will happen if you really tick him off....Poo somewhere! Yikes!

Second, did they start w/ constructing a new outhouse!???

Outhouse construction begins at another time. I actually did peek inside this weekend.........ewwwwwwwww.........asked them if they could remove the stench in the remodel......but alas, they are apparently keeping it in its present locale, perched above the 15-foot poop-pit.....

Your new social life does sound exciting, but tiring at the same time. I will now officially be living vicariously through you

Yup.....me, too.

Me three

 but wait........ *I* don't want to be living this exhausting life, vicariously or otherwise!!!!!! I am TIRED sillies, TIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kissey - - not tired. Ever. Dating is hard on me.....may cancel concert tonight - we'll see.

Poison oak is now on every part of my body, and getting worse. WE are not at the stage where hospital visit is necessary (as has happened in the past), but, things are RAGING, and spreading. I just got rid of the poison oak from the last visit to Last Chance, which, by the end, was burgundy-purple and oozing (sorry) but at least stayed mainly in just one area. so now it's on my entire torso (that's the crazy part that we can't figure out), neck and spreading to face, behind ears, on both arms/hands, both legs - thighs and calves, and getting close to a.......female body part. :o Yes, I have JUST put in a call to the doctor and am hoping to be prescribed this magic zapping gel I once got in Monterey......if I could only remember the name of the dang stuff.......cause who knows if doctor will know.

Of course, as you can imagine, Kissey has NOTHING of this and is not affected by poison oak in the slightest.

OMG!! I've just eaten 17 rice crackers

:o ummmmmm........ and you find this worthy of mentioning???????????? SEVENTEEN, that's all? Okay.......I may be remotely interested in listening when you've eaten the entire container, and then some.

Susie- Yeah on meeting the Kisseys! I for one, already love Grandma and her boyfriend- how cute is THAT? Of course they liked you- what's not to like!!!!!!!!!! When you called him david I was like - always forget he has a REAL name!!!!!!

 sometimes I, too, forget he has a real name......in fact, this is phunny - - he ONLY gets called David when he's in trouble......if he hears me utter the word, w/ a certain distinct sharpness to teh tone, well, that's it......

It's phunny....17 is the one number of which I have ALL of the multiples right in the forefront of my memory bank. So I immediately computed your calorie count as about 136 - - not heinously bad.

For all those puzzled: When converting the mmol blood-sugar measurement that we use in Canada to the American measurement, one multiplies it by 17. My tight morning reading of 4.6 is 78 American..... B)

 EMILY!!!!!!!!!!!!! this sounds suspiciously like mathS.......what in hell are you doing to me?

This is a superb idea....I will need to be out there fairly early in the am to incorporate Mr. Chow into a background. I'd love to capture him in mid-Rising Sun Pose, or his Meet-The-Ebbing-Sea. He actually has one pose that is quite something, and I cannot imagine what it it would be called. It looks like Dog-Pooping-By-Running-Stream, or Eagle-Shot-out-of-the Air. Must ask him.......

Yes, by all means - - I say, just secretly photograph Chow, and put it into your av, for, as we know, other neighbors have been featured in certain avs (eviscerated zombie man) to our great pleasure.......

BRING THE POODLE HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Speaking of puppies, sadie is having visitors who want to adopt her today. I will be VERY sad to see her go, but she will have a house on a lake, a boat, a huge yard and a 6 year-old who already has her walking, feeding and bathing schedule worked out. How cute is THAT?

Sadie's leaving??????????? not sure now I feel about this but........well okay, that arrangement DOES sound perfect.........can she and Angus still maintain their relationship?

mygawd sillies..........I am itching to death...........help meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!

Is it like stinging nettles???

ohhhhhhhhh Nicola, poison oak is FAR more evil than stinging nettle - - though I once did fall into a nettle bush - OUCH - -alas, the pain passes quickly.

Poison oak/ivy is a vile weed in US - who knows where else in teh world - - and some people are highly susceptible to it - including most on my dad's side of the family.......my grandfather was in hospital with it, and I have been to the emergency room for it - - when it got into my elbow joint, which swelled to about five times its normal size and was permanently bent......I had a systemic/edemic case of it, w/ a 103 fever.......wish I could post the photo.......when I walked into the ER on a Sunday (friend insisted I go, but had alreayd been to the ER once that week, at midnight, and a walk-in doctor a few days after that), well let me tell you - - I have NEVER been ushered back so quickly into the urgent URGENT care in my life - - the staff gasped, parted like the red sea, and it was thought that I had walked in w/ an advanced case of flesh-eating strep......this is what my friend heard in the panicked whispers of those in my wake.  <I can laugh about it now but my mom had to come take care of me for five days whilst I kept my arm elevated and went on massive steroids and antibiotics, leading into the next fabulous adventure - - clostridium dificile  >

Anywho - - it's a vile and invasive, noxious week that grows in the lower elevations of the mountains in California, and all over the east coast/south as well. all I have to do is LOOK at it.......and that's it. I am in soooooooooooo much agony now......waiting to get into doctor TODAY rather than tomorrow.............but it's very hard to treat.....

Open Original Shared Link

if I don't treat this, it will spread everywhere - - the itching can drive you mad - - and within a week or two, begin oozing, seeping, turning dark purple, and looking and feeling completely wretched....

I'm mighty uncomfortable and it's only been two days since we got back from Last Chance......

forgot to wash the dog. Animals run through the wilds and retain the oils from the devil weed in their hair............because I am careful to step nowhere near it...........

aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Moi!

During the summer of 2003, I had the worst case of poison ivy--I was weeding in my own yard (in NJ) and plucked out a bunch before I realized what I did. :(

I ended up with it on my face, arms and legs--it was awful. Every few days, I'd get a few more blisters, they would multiply and spread and this pattern kept up for--I swear--weeks.

The itching was obscene--Susie, I know just what you're going through. It seems like it's NEVER going to go away. I didn't go the the doctor for it--just tried lots of OTC stuff, but nothing really helped much.

My older son got it when we lived in GA--he was in 5th grade and his was so bad that we took him to the doctor and he had to do a course of steroids. It was horrible.

Vile weed

Lylie-bear's tooth is fine, he has some sort of ulcer on his gum. We got sent home with some steroids and antibiotics. Lyle turns into pudding in the vet's office, so the vet is calmly showing me how to pill a cat while I'm looking at her like she just stepped in from Susie's Stepford neighborhood. We'll just have to see how much of the medication goes into the cat, and how much goes onto mom.

:o OMG Patti - - how heinous to pull the weed and not know.............I feel your pain. the itching could drive a person insane.........I had my eye swell shut with it one time.........gads.................

Something that worked for us--get some of those cat treats that are semi-soft. Take a pill and press it into a piece of treat and then mold the treat around the pill. Allo fell for it anyway..... :P

who else here is quite susceptible to the terrible oak/ivy/sumac?

Sumac girl here! Not as badly susceptible as you're describing, but quite miserable even so, requiring steroids to resolve, etc... YUCK. I've never had a reaction to poison oak or ivy at all, though. I do get a decent reaction from azaleas, however. Not if I just touch them, but if I get scratched by a stem or branch... such as when weeding around my gorgeous white azaleas... I have a rather unhappy couple days.

Gosh this afternoon is lasting forever.....

I agree wholeheartedly!

Luke had a checkup with our family doc today. He had to have a chicken pox booster shot, which was not fun. He takes after his father and is petrified of needles. It took three of us to hold him down. <_<

She also wants him to try regular fiber supplements and probiotics to try and help shorten his gluten reactions and improve overall digestive health. I told her what typically happens when he's glutened, is he gets about 2 days of intense diarrhea, and then has tiny little poopy accidents for 1-2 weeks afterward. That causes him to miss a lot of school when he gets glutened, because I don't want him to have accidents at school!!!

I think the fiber supplement is an excellent idea... she thinks the bowel incontinence is from being constipated after the diarrhea eases up. Everything I've read about it fits right in with what happens to him, so I think she's right. She only wants him to take the probiotic a 2-3 times a week.

So, I'm really hoping this will help shorten his recovery time. sigh. No matter how diligent I am, glutenings happen.

I'm sooooooo tired! Only got about two hours of sleep last night, and three hours the night before. Ugh. When will this day be over?!?!

Yeah, that'd be great! I hadn't heard or read any discussions on fiber plus probiotics to shorten a reaction, but the logic of it seems sound in Luke's case.

In general, I don't know how much these two things would help the average Celiac... But a HUGE part of Luke's reaction is the bowel incontinence which just drags on forever. It definitely seems to be caused by constipation after the diarrhea... Poor kid gets both in a single reaction! So maybe this will help. I'll keep you guys updated on it, too.

Poor fella :(

....and you guys immunise against chicken pox?????........why????????

All my kids have had it , although I admit it's not very pleasant :(

Well, it's like this. The vaccine has been around in the States for several years. When Luke turned 1, they offered it to me, but I refused it. At that point, they really had no good idea of how long the vaccine would last, and at what age a booster would be required, etc. I figured I'd rather my kids got the chicken pox naturally while they're young, than have a vaccine wear off when they're 20.

But a few years later, the vaccine became required for entrance to public school. <_< They still don't really know how long it lasts, though. Currently, they're having kids be immunized at age 12 months, and then a booster at age 5. Since Luke didn't have his first one till age 5, we had to do his booster now.

The whole thing aggravates me. The only way I could have gotten out of the kids having the vaccine was to claim that it's against my religion... which it's not... so I didn't feel good about doing that.

By the time Ezra turned 1, it was already required, so he had it at the standard time. And of course, being Ezra, he broke out in chicken pox blisters all over his legs and butt. Thank you, US government, you just gave my baby chicken pox on purpose.

He is. Which makes everything even more difficult. I’m not a believer in “staying for the kids” but I have nowhere to go and it’s not just me, it’s me plus my babies. We live in a beautiful place, lots of land in the country and me and the kids love the place we’ve called home for their entire lives. But Im seeing that he’ll never change, that my kids deserve a happy healthy Momma, and that staying in this as is will be the early death of me. Then I look at the scars covering my entire body…this disease and the chronic stress I’ve been enduring for years that tell me I’m no longer beautiful and no one will ever look at me with interest again. I try self care, try to give myself grace so I can just start loving myself enough to gain strength but the slightest sparkle in my eye and skip in my step attracts his wrath and it all comes crashing ten fold. Life is just absolutely railing me from every single direction leaving me wanting to wave that white flag bc I don’t feel like there’s much hope no matter what happens.

Hi, I was recently diagnosed with Celiac and dermatitis herpetiformis after years of suffering without answers. I lost my mind. I lost my job. I lost so much time. I lost Me. Conventional doctors are opulent come near me and the one who did sat across the room, misdiagnosed me, pumped me full of steroids which collapsed my entire hip for 6 months. So without answers I began my holistic journey. Fast forward a couple of years and still struggling with a mysterious whole body itchy, crawling “skin hell”, perfect teeth now deteriorating, thick hair now thinning rapidly and no more than a day or 2 at most relief….An acquaintance opened up a functional medicine practice. Cash only, I found a way. Within a month tests clearly showing my off the charts gluten allergy/sensitivity as well as the depletion of vital nutrients due to leaky gut and intestinal damage. dermatitis herpetiformis was more than likely what I was experiencing with my skin. I was happy. I thought this is easy, eat healthy Whole Foods, follow the diet restrictions and I finally get to heal and feel confident and like myself again very soon! 😔 Supplements are very pricey but I got them and began my healing. Which leads to the other major issue: not working, stay at home Mom of young kids, entirely financially dependent on my man of 7 plus years. He’s never been supportive of anything I’ve ever done or been thru. He controls everything. I’m not given much money ever at a time and when he does leave money it’s only enough to possibly get gas. His excuse is that I’ll spend it on other things. So my “allowance” is inconsistent and has conditions. He withholds money from me as punishment for anything he wants. Since being diagnosed, he’s gained a new control tactic to use as punishment. He now is in control of when I get to eat. He asked for proof of my diagnosis and diet bc he said I made it up just to be able to eat expensive organic foods. Then after I sent him my file from my doctor he then said she wasn’t a real doctor. 😡. I go days upon days starving, sometimes breaking down and eating things I shouldn’t bc I’m so sick then I pay horribly while he gets annoyed and angry bc I’m not keeping up with all the duties I’m supposed to be doing. His abuse turns full on when I’m down and it’s in these desperate times when I need his support and care the most that I’m punished with silence, being starved, ignored, belittled. He will create more of a mess just bc I’m unable to get up and clean so that when I am better, I’m so overwhelmed with chores to catch up that the stress causes me to go right back into a flare from hell and the cycle repeats. I’m punished for being sick. I’m belittled for starving and asking for healthy clean water. I’m purposely left out of his life. He won’t even tell me he’s going to the grocery or to get dinner bc he doesn’t want me to ask him for anything. I have no one. I have nothing. Im not better. My supplements ran out and I desperately need Vitamin D3 and a methylated B complex at the very minimal just to function….he stares at me blankly…no, a slight smirk, no words. He’s happiest when im miserable and I am miserable.  this is so long and im condensing as much as I can but this situation is so complicated and disgusting. And it’s currently my life. The “IT” girl, the healthy, beautiful, perfect skin, perfect teeth, thick and curly locks for days, creative and talented IT girl….now I won’t even leave this house bc Im ashamed of what this has dont to my body, my skin. Im disgusted. The stress is keeping me from healing and I think he knows that and that’s why he continues to keep me in that state. He doesn’t want me confident or successful. He doesn’t want me healed and healthy bc then how would he put the blame of all his problems on me? This journey has been hell and I’ve been in Hell before. I’ve been killed by an ex, I’ve been raped, robbed, held hostage, abused beyond nightmares but the cruelty I’ve experienced from him bc of this disease is the coldest I’ve ever experienced. I’ve wanted to give up. Starving and in tears, desperate…I found a local food pantry in our small town so I reached out just saying I had Celiac and was on hard times. This woman is blessing me daily with prepared gluten free meals, donations, educational info, people who know this disease and how they manage life and the blessings just keep coming. But it’s overwhelming and I feel like I don’t deserve it at all. He just glared and I know he’s going to sabotage it somehow. I don’t even know what to do anymore. I’m so broken and just want peace and healing.

@Colleen H   I am just curious,  when you were tested for coeliac disease, did the doctors find out if you had any deficiencies? Sometimes muscle pain can be caused by certain deficiencies, for example, magnesium, vitamin D, calcium, and potassium.   Might be worth looking into having some more tests.  Pins and needles can be neuropathy, again caused by deficiencies, such as iron and B12,  which can be reversed if these deficiencies are addressed. In the UK where I live we are usually only tested for iron, B12 and vitamin D deficiencies at diagnosis.   I was very iron anemic and supplementation made a big difference.  B12 was low normal, but in other countries the UK's low normal would be considered a deficiency.  My vitamin D was low normal, and I've been supplementing ever since (when I remember to take it!) My pins and needles definitely started to improve when my known deficiencies were addressed.  My nutritionist also gave me a broad spectrum supplement which really helped, because I suspect I wasn't just deficient in what I mention above but in many other vitamins and minerals.  But a word of warning, don't take iron unless blood tests reveal you actually need it, and if you are taking it your levels must be regularly monitored because too much can make you ill.  (And if you are currently taking iron, that might actually be making your stomach sore - it did mine, so my GP changed my iron supplementation to a gentler form, ferrous gluconate). Lastly, have you been trying to take anything to lessen the pain in your gut?  I get a sore stomach periodically, usually when I've had too much rich food, or when I have had to take an aspirin or certain antibiotics, or after glutening.  When this happens, I take for just a few days a small daily dose of OTC omeprazole.  I also follow a reflux or gastritis diet. There are lots online but the common denominators to these diets is you need to cut out caffeine, alcohol, rich, spicy, acidic food etc and eat small regularly spaced meals.   When I get a sore stomach, I also find it helpful to drink lots of water.  I also find hot water with a few slices of ginger very soothing to sip, or camomile tea.  A wedge pillow at night is good for reflux. Also,  best not to eat a meal 2-3 hours before going to bed. If the stomach pain is getting worse, though, it would be wise to see the doctor again. I hope some of this helps. Cristiana
