Don't forget--you're never really alone, you always have us :D

:D

 maybe that's worse than being alone

banish the thought!!!!!!!!!!!! Wish you truly WERE all here......we could take turns shampooing....throw tomatoes at each other's heads.........shriek above the din of the evil machine, take turns making mojitos and dancing around.........make someone cook us gluten-free delights, have someone else rub Gnik's tired pheet  <MOJITO??????????????? :o OMG - not a bad idea - could make this more fun>

Pretty much just the Edna. It's been about 5 weeks--I went to the doctor last week (a month since my last visit) and I had lost 11 pounds. (!)

No formal Sven, but I've been pretty physically active with painting, working outside, that kind of stuff. I really do need to start Svenning, though. There's a point at which the weight loss is gonna stop or slow considerably if I don't. <_<

OMGawd Emily--I remember Sven and Helga from "Another World"

My mom used to watch that show, and it was on when I would get home from school. I got hooked on it then, and watched or kept up with it over the years.....stopped a year or so before it finally went off the air.

:lol::lol::lol:

That's exactly my story, Patti!! I'd get home from school and my mom would have it on. Sometimes I'd have a raft of friends over, and we'd sit with my mom and hoot and screech at Sven, laughing hysterically at his contrived evilness......

This has been happening wayyyyyyy too much lately - and I know why. It's beause I'm in a relationship, and want to be more normal, impose less inconvenience. :( Can't do this......have to be quite strict again - not just eat the sausage w/ natural flavors because - it's there and I"m hungry and don't want to be a bother.

Susie! You'll be back to yer silly self toot sweet, I know it! There actually is a very bright side to this.. .. ..you know exactly why you've been miserable. Fixing it, of course, isn't easy, but at least you know what to do! :):)

And you have a wonderful guy, waiting forever and patiently, for his happy Susie..... ;):)

It has become rather quiet here, after a surge of activity.

Our new Queen has set a new Standard, but are they Princess Elsie and Prince Gus? And where would that leave the ripper? Is he HRH Crown Prince Jack the Ripper?

One theory about the original Jack the Ripper identifies him as Open Original Shared Link, grandson of Queen Victoria and eldest son of Edward VII. He predeceased his father and grandmother without issue, and his younger brother ascended the throne as George V.

A royal ripper? OMG, what would that mean.

I have been since the very first episode. They film it it in a town not too far from here, and we drove down to see the set. It was very cool. I think this show is so phunnie becasue it SO true to life not only here in SK but in most of small town anywhere.

OMG Sillies.....is there not a general rule in the workplace that somethings are never discussed????? Such as Politics and Wages????? Alright...yesterday the woman who sits next to me...and I love her to death. Well she got mad at the girl who I always used to butt heads with. Anyway in the conversation this woman asks me....well who does she think she is my boss??? Isn't my job title higher than hers? Now the woman talking is in a secratrial role....probably spelled that wrong but oh well. The girl she is referring to has the same job i do. SO I kinda shook my head and told her well I don't think it is higher than yours. The next words out of her mouth.... I know I get paid more than she does......I knew this would go no where good. She looks at me and says I am making 18 an hour. My jaw hit the floor. I was instantly raged. She does nothing all day, chats on the phone to family and friends, Bses....and she is making almost 4 bucks more and my job is constant work.....She must notice my face and says dont worry I was hired in @ 17.... like that makes it any better.

So she told both me and another girl who work the same job what she makes....we both make around the same thing. So we did some investigating, she was not lying about her wages either. We are Phissed! This is why these things should never get discussed......

But thefact that our jobs are more complex require more training, and more everything is what gets us mad. All she does is schedule meetings and type up meeting minutes......

Suggestions?

OMG!!!!

Congratulations Queen Emily! Way to make your country proud!

I understand why you're upset about that. It seems very unfair! Is it possible that you have a better benefits package than she does which accounts for her higher wage? Or does she hold a union job and you don't? If you're unionized you might have a case concerning parity. If your job provides as much or more to the company than that girl's job does than you should be getting paid as much as she is. You must be very frustrated over this -- I hope you can get an explanation.

The guy who DJ'd our wedding is a good friend of Ryan's and yesterday he dropped off a late wedding present for us. It was a Pewter C D case with our names and wedding date engraved and then he made up C Ds with all of the songs he played at our wedding to put in it. It's a very neat keepsake!

Wow Alex-very cool keepsake. We got our wedding DVD last weekend, boy was it nice to watch. I got to see all the things that I missed while in my bride fog.

As for your first few questions.....no union jobs and we all get the same benefits through the hospital.

Jeez, Amanda.. .. .how frustrating. That is really a tough one. I think, in light of this new information that got dropped in your lap, you should ask for a salary review, because you are obviously being underpaid, at least when compared to this $18 woman. You needed to have more training, your job is more complex, there's generally more to do....You could go to the powers-that-be as a united front with the other worker that has the same position as you. Something's very wrong, there, and it's likely never been brought up or even noticed at the higher level.....

Just crazy.

Since I typed my first message....her cell phone has range 10 times...each one consisted of a 5 minute conversation......ugh! I don't mean to be a snich or anything but jeez!

The 2 other girls who share my job who knew about the pay thing have researched this morning, we found job openings at Hospitals in Pitt and Philly and compared salaries of our job title....turns out ours is lower than other hospitals....

She makes some dumb mistakes too...lets just say her happy meal sometimes comes missing the toy....

An old country preacher had a teenage son, and it was getting

time the boy should give some thought to choosing a

profession. Like many young men his age, the boy didn't really

know what he wanted to do, and he didn't seem too concerned

about it.

One day, while the boy was away at school, his

father decided to try an experiment. He went into the boy's

room and placed on his study table four objects.

1. A bible.

2. A silver dollar.

3. A bottle of whisky.

4. And a Playboy magazine.

"I'll just hide behind the door," the old preacher said to

himself. "When he comes home from school today, I'll see

which object he picks up.

"If it's the bible, he's going to be a preacher like me, and

what a blessing that would be!

If he picks up the dollar, he's going to be a business man,

and that would be okay, too.

But if he picks up the bottle, he's going to be a no-good drunken

bum, and Lord, what a shame that would be.

And worst of all if he picks up that magazine he's going

to be a skirt-chasing womanizer."

The old man waited anxiously, and soon heard his son's foot-

steps as he entered the house whistling and headed for his

room.

The boy tossed his books on the bed, and as he turned to leave

the room he spotted the objects on the table. With curiosity

in his eye, he walked over to inspect them.

Finally, he picked up the Bible and placed it under his arm.

He picked up the silver dollar and dropped into his pocket.

He uncorked the bottle and took a big drink, while he admired

this month's centerfold.

"Lord have mercy," the old preacher disgustedly whispered.

"He's gonna run for Congress."

@Jane02, I hear you about the kale and collard greens.  I don't do dairy and must eat green leafies, too, to get sufficient calcium.  I must be very careful because some calcium supplements are made from ground up crustacean shells.  When I was deficient in Vitamin D, I took high doses of Vitamin D to correct the deficiency quickly.  This is safe and nontoxic.  Vitamin D level should be above 70 nmol/L.  Lifeguards and indigenous Pacific Islanders typically have levels between 80-100 nmol/L.   Levels lower than this are based on amount needed to prevent disease like rickets and osteomalacia. We need more thiamine when we're physically ill, emotionally and mentally stressed, and if we exercise like an athlete or laborer.  We need more thiamine if we eat a diet high in simple carbohydrates.  For every 500 kcal of carbohydrates, we need 500-1000 mg more of thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  If there's insufficient thiamine the carbs get stored as fat.  Again, recommended levels set for thiamine are based on minimum amounts needed to prevent disease.  This is often not adequate for optimum health, nor sufficient for people with absorption problems such as Celiac disease.  Gluten free processed foods are not enriched with vitamins like their gluten containing counterparts.  Adding a B Complex and additional thiamine improves health for Celiacs.  Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  Thiamine helps the mitochondria in cells to function.  Thiamine interacts with each of the other B vitamins.  They are all water soluble and easily excreted if not needed. Interesting Reading: Clinical trial: B vitamins improve health in patients with coeliac disease living on a gluten-free diet https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19154566/ Safety and effectiveness of vitamin D mega-dose: A systematic review https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34857184/ High dose dietary vitamin D allocates surplus calories to muscle and growth instead of fat via modulation of myostatin and leptin signaling https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38766160/ Safety of High-Dose Vitamin D Supplementation: Secondary Analysis of a Randomized Controlled Trial https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31746327/ Vitamins and Celiac Disease: Beyond Vitamin D https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11857425/ Investigating the therapeutic potential of tryptophan and vitamin A in modulating immune responses in celiac disease: an experimental study https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40178602/ Investigating the Impact of Vitamin A and Amino Acids on Immune Responses in Celiac Disease Patients https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10814138/

Thank you so much @knitty kitty for this insightful information! I would have never considered fractionated coconut oil to be a potential source of GI upset. I will consider all the info you shared. Very interesting about the Thiamine deficiency.  I've tracked daily averages of my intake in a nutrition software. The only nutrient I can't consistently meet from my diet is vitamin D. Calcium is a hit and miss as I rely on vegetables, dark leafy greens as a major source, for my calcium intake. I'm able to meet it when I either eat or juice a bundle of kale or collard greens daily haha. My thiamine intake is roughly 120% of my needs, although I do recognize that I may not be absorbing all of these nutrients consistently with intermittent unintentional exposures to gluten.  My vitamin A intake is roughly 900% (~6400 mcg/d) of my needs as I eat a lot of sweet potato, although since it's plant-derived vitamin A (beta-carotene) apparently it's not likely to cause toxicity.  Thanks again!
    • knitty kitty
Hello, @Jane02,  I take Naturewise D 3.  It contains olive oil.   Some Vitamin D supplements, like D Drops, are made with fractionated coconut oil which can cause digestive upsets.  Fractionated coconut oil is not the same as coconut oil used for cooking.  Fractionated coconut oil has been treated for longer shelf life, so it won't go bad in the jar, and thus may be irritating to the digestive system. I avoid supplements made with soy because many people with Celiac Disease also react to soy.  Mixed tocopherols, an ingredient in Thornes Vitamin D, may be sourced from soy oil.  Kirkland's has soy on its ingredient list. I avoid things that might contain or be exposed to crustaceans, like Metagenics says on its label.  I have a crustacean/shellfish/fish allergy.  I like Life Extension Bioactive Complete B Complex.  I take additional Thiamine B 1 in the form Benfotiamine which helps the intestines heal, Life Extension MegaBenfotiamine. Thiamine is needed to activate Vitamin D.   Low thiamine can make one feel like they are getting glutened after a meal containing lots of simple carbohydrates like white rice, or processed gluten free foods like cookies and pasta.   It's rare to have a single vitamin deficiency.  The water soluble B Complex vitamins should be supplemented together with additional Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine and Thiamine TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) to correct subclinical deficiencies that don't show up on blood tests.  These are subclinical deficiencies within organs and tissues.  Blood is a transportation system.  The body will deplete tissues and organs in order to keep a supply of thiamine in the bloodstream going to the brain and heart.   If you're low in Vitamin D, you may well be low in other fat soluble vitamins like Vitamin A and Vitamin K. Have you seen a dietician?
    • Scott Adams
I do not know this, but since they are labelled gluten-free, and are not really a product that could easily be contaminated when making them (there would be not flour in the air of such a facility, for example), I don't really see contamination as something to be concerned about for this type of product.
