Mygawd...there are a whole slew of us posting.....what in hell do we all have to say?

Jess, that is a beautiful little boy! The accent does sound somewhat English, but perhaps more Afrikkaner (Southern Africa - - slight Dutch lilt)......hmmmmmm....tres interessant.....

Put your dog and your wife in the trunk of the car for an hour.

When you open the trunk, who is really happy to see you?

:lol::lol: Great one, Janet

Sarah, being is a mom is so hard. Bless you for trying so hard. Sounds like your such a good mom.

I absolutely second this, Judy.... ..so well said. Your kids are so lucky to have you, Sarah!:)

Are yer saying it right Susie???

(she pronounces it wrong you know  )

Nicola! Souzzle has put out yer name with the stress on the first syllable. Could it be in the unusual, fetching positon of second syllable? Ni-CO-la.....

Or p'raps you were catching the long vowel sound on the first syllable, when it should be short.....Ni-cola, not Nee-cola.

Mygawd.....how boring. Please ignore the last ramble. Me and my schwa, diphthong, cadence obsession.....

I believe it depends on what nationality she's masquerading as. I would say Ni CO la sounds Italian, while NI cola comes off as Greek. Equal stresses, hmm, maybe seductive French NI CO LA? And Nico LA? Russian?

Excellent - - but if you did it in Fresno in July, they'd, um, both be DEAD

:lol: Here too, or anywhere in the dead of summer.....OMG, makes me think about all the idiots that leave their pets or kids in a car for a long period of time.

Boris - poor wee kitty. I don't really like vaccines for pets - - I do rabies and that's about it - - Tika, after her cancer treatment, never had a shot again - and she lived ELEVEN whole years after chemo, in superb health!

I don't either, my Palmer got so very sick and reacted to the vaccines the first few ones he had so after that I no longer vaccinated him.

You guys wanna hear something incredibly stupid?

I took the bag out of the fridge today and put on me reading glasses and saw the warning--made on the dreaded shared equipment as wheat.

Does anyone think this may have contributed to the elevated liver enzymes? One was slightly high right before I was diagnosed, and went back to normal by 6 months gluten-free.

I'm really embarassed

Patti, don't beat yourself up, this is really easy for any of us to do. They are changing labels all the time and being more specific about labeling if there are shared lines or shared facilities, you would think plain nuts would be safe so i understand you not giving it a second thought.

I guess it could contribute to the elevated liver enzymes  Can you talk to your Dr about it?

What she said.

Wouldn't you rather have your problems attributable to a momentary lapse in diligence, rather than some body part staging a rebellion?

Hee hee--I'm back after me tirade!

I just told Mark on the phone--he was really nice and just said that it's better I found out late than never. :)

Anywho.....

Jess--that little Riley is adorable, and does have a bit of an accent. :D And you're right about the rebellion--the timing is just too perfect.....

Julie

Sarah! Hope ya'll get to the library for some cool, quiet time :)

Mygawd, Patti, I can't tell you the number of times this has happened to me.....I'm fairly lazy about re-reading labels, much to my peril, it would seem. Incredible to me is the number of companies who suddenly decide to put wheat in their products.:angry:

Yep. Canadian would be the addition of an entire new syllable......Nicola-eh.

So, MIL flew off last evening.

OMG.....We should do this. We should start a thread and call it just that: Ednazone - - for those who need help with Edna. Can you picture the expressions on all the non-Sillies' faces?

:huh::huh::huh:

Who is Edna?? Is she a new, troublesome forum member? Have I read her posts? Is she inappropriate or profane??

Then they would pause for only a moment, and slowly shake their heads...."Ah......but of course. It's those individuals on THAT thread".............

Sarah- (((((((((((Hugs))))))))). I think you sound a lot like my mom -she would have sat up with me ALL night if I needed her.And the withdrawal you are going through sounds BRUTAL. I've heard people describe this and it sounds so terrible. Wish we could come down, open a bottle of wine and hire someone to massage your feet!   You can ALWAYS vent here.

Bunk beds

I always think it such a waste when one has some innocuous internal thing removed, such as a gallbladder, tonsils, appendix, stones of whatever sort.....being an artist, I will always see everything as a possible piece of work.

Patti, if you have your gb removed, ask for it....you could have it incorporated into a sculpture that forever evolves, grows and changes.:lol:

Em, you so crazy!!!!!!!!! I asked for my gall stones and they said NO  I wanted to put them on a necklace

Patteigh! My friend in San Jose had elevated liver enzymes for a full decade - - drove her insane - and she is about as puritanical and healthy as you can get (LITERALLY takes about - four aspirins a YEAR - very light drinker, VERY healthy eater, etc.)....

NIcola sent the phunniest email of my life..........'twas a full recounting of her day................

NEEK-oh-lahhhhhhhhhhh...............asking permission to publish here, please

Patti I hope all goes well- and Suze, hope Weezie is OK too. Mine have randomly gone up before and then back down. I'm telling ya, I think we all have the weirdest bodies. Could we be our own species? Homo Psillius?

Nikkeigh- You MUST post your phunny diary!

Nikki!!!   It's your commentary that's so fab!

The science guy at the library today was a MAD Scientist!!! He was hilarious, and at the end, he said, "So! Science is BORING, RIGHT???" All those kids screamed "NO!" so loudly, it rattled the windows. :D Mommy is pleased.

I made dairy-free corn dogs for lunch today. At first, I was flummoxed as to how to make the batter without milk... Then I just said, "Phark it, ya make polenta with water, what's the worst that could happen?" (I didn't really say phark- I'm kind of a potty mouth. ) They turned out fine. The coating was a little more delicate than normal, but tasted pretty much the same.

Going to attempt df pizza tonight. My crust recipe is df already, and I happen to have some df "mozzarella" that I bought as a just-in-case... I gotta hunt down a pizza sauce recipe, though... all I have is a can of tomato paste. I'm pretty sure I can do something to it to turn it into sauce...

I think, after reading this, that you areso traumatized by not being able yo understand what your medical advisors have been  what medical conditions are that you would like to find a group of people who also feel traumatized who would agree with you and also support you. You are on a crusade much as the way the US Cabinet  official, the Health Director of our nation is in trying to change what he considers outdated and incorrect health advisories. He does not have the education, background or experience to be in the position he occupies and is not making beneficial decisions. That man suffered a terrible trauma early in his life when his father was assonated. We see now how he developed and worked himself into a powerful position.  Unless you are willing to take some advice or  are willing to use a few of the known methods of starting on a path to better health then not many of us on this Celiac Forum will be able to join you in a continuing series of complaints about medical advisors.    I am almost 90 years old. I am strictly gluten free. I use 2 herbs to help me stay as clear minded as possible. You are not wrong in complaining about medical practitioners. You might be more effective with a clearer mind, less anger and a more comfortable life if you would just try some of the suggestions offered by our fellow celiac volunteers.

Thus has got to STOP , medical bit believing us! I literally went through 31 years thinking it was just a food allergy as its downplayed by medical if THEY weren't the ones who diagnosed us! Im positive for HLA-DQ2 which is first celiac patient per Iran and Turkey. Here in the States especially in Cali its why do you feel that way? Why do you think your celiac? Your not eating gluten so its something else.Medical caused me depression. I thought I was safe with my former pcp for 25 years considering i thought everything I went through and going through will be available when I get fired again for health. Health not write-ups my health always come back when you're better.Im not and being tossed away at no fault to my own other than shitty genes.I was denied disability because person said he didn't know how to classify me! I said Im celiac, i have ibs, hernia, sciatica, high blood pressure, in constant pain have skin and eye issues and menopause intensified everything. With that my celiac nightmare began to reprove my disregarded disease to a bunch of clowns who think they are my careteam when they said I didn't have...I feel Im still breathing so I can fight this so no body else has to deal with this nightmare. Starting over with " new care team" and waisting more time on why I think I am when diagnosed in 1994 before food eliminated from my diet. P.s everything i went through I did write to medical board, so pretty sure I will continue to have a hard time.

@Scatterbrain, Thiamine Vitamin B1 and amino acid Taurine work together.  Our bodies can make Taurine from meats consumed.  Our bodies cannot make Thiamine and must consume thiamine from food.  Meat is the best source of B vitamins like Thiamine.   Vegetarians may not make sufficient taurine since they don't eat meat sources of taurine.  Seaweed is the best vegetarian source of taurine. Vegetarians may not consume sufficient Thiamine since few veggies are good sources.  Whole grains, legumes, and nuts and seeds contain thiamine.  Many of these sources can be hard to digest and absorb for people with Celiac disease.   You may find taking the forms of thiamine called Benfotiamine or TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) and a B Complex will give the benefits you're looking for better than taurine alone.

@Jmartes71, I went to Doterra's site and had a look around.  The Doterra TerraZyme supplement really jumped out at me.  Since we, as Celiacs, often have digestive problems, I looked at the ingredients.  The majority of the enzymes in this supplement are made using black mold, Aspergillus!  Other enzymes are made by yeast Saccharomyces!  Considering the fact that Celiac often have permeable intestines (leaky gut syndrome), I would be very hesitant to take a product like this.  Although there may not be live black mold or yeast in the product, the enzymes may still cause an immune system response which would definitely cause inflammation throughout the body.   Skin, eyes, and intestines are all made from the same basic type of cells.  Your skin on the outside and eyes can reflect how irritated the intestines are on the inside.  Our skin, eyes, and intestines all need the same vitamins and nutrients to be healthy:  Vitamin A, Niacin B3 and Tryptophan, Riboflavin B2, Biotin B7, Vitamin C, and Omega Threes.  Remember that the eight B vitamins work together.  Just taking high doses of just one, vitamin like B12, can cause a deficiency in the others.  Taking high doses of B12 can mask a Folate B9 deficiency.  If you take B12, please take a B Complex, too.  Thiamine B1 can be taken in high doses safely without toxicity.  Thiamine is needed by itself to produce energy so every cell in the body can function, but Thiamine also works with the other B vitamins to make life sustaining enzymes and digestive enzymes.  Deficiencies in either Niacin, Vitamin C, or Thiamine can cause digestive problems resulting in Pellagra, Scurvy, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi.   If you change your diet, you will change your intestinal microbiome.  Following the Autoimmune Protocol Diet, a Paleo diet, will starve out SIBO bacteria.  Thiamine keeps bacteria in check so they don't get out of control as in SIBO.  Thiamine also keeps MOLDS and Yeasts from overgrowth.   Menopause symptoms and menstrual irregularities are symptomatic of low Vitamin D.   Doctors are not as knowledgeable about malnutrition as we need them to be.  A nutritionist or dietician would be more helpful.   Take control of your diet and nutrition.  Quit looking for a pill that's going to make you feel better overnight.  The Celiac journey is a marathon, not a sprint.   "Let food be your medicine, and let medicine be your food."

The Lindt (Lindor) dairy-free oat milk truffles are definitely gluten-free, and (last time I checked) so are the white chocolate truffles and the mint chocolate truffles.
