Gaaaaaahhh.....Something else to niggle at my brain......for, like the words "ravel" and "unravel", I believe "furl" and "unfurl" are in fact synonyms. This happens rarely in our confounding language, an opposing prefix adding nothing to the meaning of its root word, but there you are.......not certain on this one.

Now isn't that just fascinating?? <_<

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm......Furl? :huh::lol:

I believe its an, um, adverb( ?)

As in: how furl'y go ta git that new pickup y' wanted?

Wow, another beautiful day shaping up here, today... :)

A heads-up: I am heading over to the home of one of our Gang of Four this afternoon, the ones with whom I loll about in hot tubs and drink champagne through the lunch hour. Today we're going to be sitting around a gorgeous pool with unbelievably landscaped grounds bursting with flowers, bonsai and vinery. So, who knows what my posts will contain afterward....... <_<

My great-grandma used to bury her money in the backyard........she didn't trust banks.

My grandmother used to hide money in her bra, and all over the house in what she called "hidey holes" for the same reason

I lost my silly somewhere  I am so behind, tried to catch up a little, you guys have been busy, and so PHUNNY!

Jess! Furl definition.....

It may also be a noun.........

That cat's furl come off in big clumps when you brush it.....

Yes....I must decide before I head over.....

These are great friends I am meeting, and the discussions are fascinating (progressively more so, I am certain, the more we drink....However, I have many things to run around and do after our lunch, including pick up Jack from camp - - wouldn't that be grand, stumbling into the campground, yelling and singing, "Jaaaaaaacko! I is heeeeeere!"). Our group is comprised of me, then the psychiatric nurse, the family doc, and the high school teacher. Quite interesting dynamic......

Correct! This has happened on and off since Scott started playing with things again.

I like it to be squished like this. :P Now the main part is actually on my screen. For months now, I've been having to scroll over to the side every single time I get on a new page. <_<

Are you sure you both haven't had a little sumphin on the side? <_< Everything is hunky dory here. :P

Ever since the bog board update however many months ago (I can't keep track of time) when all the green was added, the forum screen no longer fit on my monitor screen. I always had to scroll over. Now today I don't.

Weeeeeelllll, when I post, it's still too wide, but not as bad.

Wow!!!!! :o Fellow Sillies are kicking butt on the Glutenease thread!!!! Strength in numbers, as the saying goes! High-five, ladies!!!

Hmm, yes. I tried to shut that thread down by adding some science. Usually it works; once I post something sensible, no one else ever posts. On that particular thread, however, I noticed that my comments were completely ignored. I guess that works too... If you can't be right, be ignorant.

I'm curious now--I thought that thread had fizzled......be right back....

Gah! I totally wasn't ignoring you, Jess. Just didn't really have anything to add.

And I guarantee that you're going to get a response.

(Thanks for the g-ease bump, Patti :) . Makes me feel like we're some sort of conspiracy group, dedicated to irradicating ignorance (and failing, badly))

Here's the thing--I've had it about up to here with the ignorance (good word) and opinions posing as fact.....as you can probably tell, I normally go out of my way to avoid arguments but I was gonna burst if I didn't say something ;)

Poor Amanda was trying to explain what actually happened in clinical trials in a hospital, and even that had to be "bested". <_<

Jess

I posted on your link on genes on the 'e' thread.

It was a really good one and it was easy to understand. Best I've read on this.

This gene this is a big concern for me as my 33 year old son is going gluten-free now.

I know, oh ma GAH! It drives me nutzoid when people state opinion as if it were fact, and when people find it impossible just to say, "Good point." <_<

For pain relief I take a combination of Thiamine (Benfotiamine), Pyridoxine B 6, and Cobalamine B12.  The combination of these three vitamins has analgesic effects.  I have back pain and this really works.  The B vitamins are water soluble and easily excreted.   Hope this helps!  Keep us posted on your results!

Welcome to the forum, @Xravith. I experienced similar symptoms before my diagnosis.  Mine were due to the loss of vitamins and minerals, essential nutrients we must get from our food.  With Celiac Disease, the intestinal lining, made up of thousands of villi, gets damaged and cannot absorb essential vitamins and minerals, especially the eight B vitamins.  The loss of Thiamine B 1 can cause muscle loss, inability to gain weight, edema (swelling), fatigue, migraines and palpitations.  Low thiamine can cause Gastrointestinal Beriberi with symptoms of nausea, abdominal pain and bloating.   Thiamine is only stored for a couple of weeks, so if you don't absorb enough from food daily, as the thiamine deficiency worsens physical symptoms gradually worsen.  If you're eating lots of carbs (like gluten containing foods usually do), you need more thiamine to process them (called high calorie malnutrition).  Thiamine works with all the other B vitamins, so if you're low in one, you're probably getting low in the others, too, and minerals like iron, magnesium, zinc, and calcium, as well as Vitamin D..  Talk to your doctor about checking for nutritional deficiencies.  Most doctors rarely recognize vitamin deficiency symptoms, especially in thiamine. Get a DNA test to see if you carry any Celiac genes.  If you do not have genetic markers for Celiac, it's probably IBS.  If you do have genetic markers for Celiac, it's probably Celiac.  I was misdiagnosed with IBS for years before my Celiac diagnosis.   Keep us posted on your progress. P. S. Deficiency in thiamine can cause false negatives on antibody tests, as can diabetes and anemia.

No she didn't because if I want to ask I have to pay 700$ for 1 hour appointment so I couldn't even ask. I read that fillers like cornstash can alter the result and tylenol contains it so that's why I tried to find someone who can answer.
    • trents
Did the GI doc give you any rational for stopping the Tylenol during the gluten challenge? I have never heard of this before and I can't imagine a good reason for it. Ibuprofen, maybe, because it is an anti inflammatory but acetaminophen?  I don't see that it would have any impact on the test results to take Tylenol.

Good day! New members here and I have a question about medication. My gastroenterologist made me stop some medication during the gluten challenge beforenthe screening test but I have a little surgery tomorrow and I need to know if I can use tylenol for half a day or if it will give me false results using it.   Thanks
