Were you AT the convention?? I did think about you while watching the past few nights. It was quite impressive seeing the stadium full to capacity last night--so much energy :D

No  ...but just about 15 or 20 minutes south from there.

I talked to a family member who had tickets and they ended up turning around and going home. When they arrived, several hours early too, thousands and thousands were still lined up outside waiting to get in. The security detail was quite involved, so they knew they would be standing in line for hours.

So sillies with the rainy day I have here I am thinking about picking up lunch on my way home and watching sex and the city for the rest of the afternoon.....

Sounds like a good plan :)

Well, ya know what they say... . . .the couple that pharts together...... .. ...

...probably isn't invited out to dinner as a couple very often........ <_<

:lol::lol:

Glad you're feeling better today, Amanda. It's not raining here, just kinda cloudy....sun is trying to peak out but not having too much luck. B)

I was doubled over last night with stomach pain/cramping. They found a hiatal hernia during my endo., and according to the sheet she gave me I think it had to be the onions I ate in my dinner. Gawd....another reason to have to limit more foods

At least this explains the hiccups and unladylike belching

GOD......One up Amanda........One down............Patti. :o oye vie.

Patti, I used to get like that with onions but can eat them now so maybe you will be able to also

so sorry for the pain. Couldn't have been excitment could it???? ;)

Is it gone now????

Did you wave at me?!?!?

Thinking about Bev

I sure did wave.......didn't you see me????

yep thinking of our Bevie.

Just hope it goes well for her this time.

Yeah--lots of trapped gas is what it felt like....but really painful from right under my ribs on down  Ah well, what cha gonna do??

Patti.....could it be your gallbladder? Did she test for that......forget

Yes, it sure was packed.......my clostophobia couldn't have handled that for sure

Last night John and I came home and Jen's kitchen window is on the porch stoop, so when its open I always yell in to her. So she was coming to the window and I bent down and let out this loud-very loud fart.....and John looks at me and starts laughing and pretty soon he lets one go too......We are a mess!

gives new meaning to '2 peas in a pod'

So sillies with the rainy day I have here I am thinking about picking up lunch on my way home and watching sex and the city for the rest of the afternoon.....Its cold out too. I dont even think it is 70 out....I hear it will get warmer by the weekend....last weekend of summer!!!!

sounds like a winner to me.

Nope--gallbladder is A-ok!! Ultrasound and blood work were fine for that. She saw the hiatal hernia during the endoscopy and this, she said, would explain my reflux/upper abdominal symptoms.

Gotta love when you actually get an answer for something! The other bloodwork and biopsys are still out, so we're waiting on those. Keeping me phingers crossed that somephin turns up that might explain all these phood intolerances.

At least, this doctor is willing to look...... :D

Nice googlin' Lisa--I had no idea he had such a name :o I musta watched The Wizard of Oz at least a dozen times or more through the years.

The name is not mentioned in the film's dialog, nor is it in the original book. It is revealed in the fourth book in the series, Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz.

Yep, there's certainly a particular whiff in the air when the heaviness of an impending rain approaches.... . .. . .

Let's be thankful that we're just smelling the coming rain, not yet feeling it in our knees, hands, hips...... . . . . . . . .. <_<

Tonight a bunch of us are going to the Haunted Walk of Ottawa....a ninety-minute stroll around the old downtown and Parliament, with a guide who tells us all about the various ghosts and spirits that haunt the buildings and neighboUrhoods..... . .. . .

It includes an apparently not-for-the-faint-of-heart tour through one of the most haunted structures in Canada:

Well today was an adventure- last time the whole thing from start to finish took forty five minutes. This took four hours and was not fun. They tried to guide it in with ultrasound but it got stuck, had to wait an hour for interventional radiology. They had to guide it in with real-time x-ray and could only get is so far because I was having vein spasms. They finally got it in but it hurt like hell (after three novocaine shots) and I have a HUGE bruise.

Glad it is O-V-E-R!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh Bev, I'm so sorry, it just sounds heinous.

Hey Amanda---yer rain is here!!

It has been pouring hard all afternoon--I napped on the couch with my kitty, Kitty put his heads in my hands and we slept all afternoon.

Then Jen called me and asked if I wanted to run to Starbucks with her and Becky. So we did that.

I have to go to Wegmans but the traffic is nasty right now so we will go later.

Yah!! I say we pin him down and take out his uterus before inserting a PICC line - preferably through his groin, with a couple false starts.

Good day! New members here and I have a question about medication. My gastroenterologist made me stop some medication during the gluten challenge beforenthe screening test but I have a little surgery tomorrow and I need to know if I can use tylenol for half a day or if it will give me false results using it.   Thanks

I agree, there can be contamination at many points--milling is another possible source of contamination for any flours.

Keep in mind that with manufactured food products, "gluten free" doesn't equate to no gluten. Things that are naturally gluten free can be cross-contaminated with gluten in the field, in shipping and in processing. In the U.S. companies can use the gluten free label as long as the product doesn't exceed 20ppm of gluten. That amount still may cause a reaction in some people.

Dd10 was tested for celiac four years ago bc two siblings were dx’d (positive labs and biopsies). Her results at the time were positive ema  and ttg (7x the UL), but a negative biopsy. We checked again three months later and her ttg was still positive (4x the UL), but ema and biopsy were negative. Doc said it was “potential celiac” and to keep eating gluten, but we were concerned about harming her growth and development while young and had her go gluten-free because we felt the labs and ema in particular were very suggestive of early celiac, despite the negative biopsies. She also had stomach aches and lethargy when eating it. We just felt it’d be better to be safe than sorry. Now, four years later, she doesn’t want to be gluten-free if she doesn’t “have to be,” so underwent a 12 week gluten challenge. She had labs done before starting and all looked great (celiac panel all negative, as expected.) Surprisingly, she experienced no noticeable symptoms when she began eating gluten again, which we felt was a positive sign. However, 12 weeks in, her labs are positive again (ttg 4x the UL and ema positive again as well). Doc says that since she feels fine and her previous two biopsies showed nothing, she can just keep eating gluten and we could maybe biopsy again in two years. I was looking up the ema test and the probability of having not just one but two false positives, and it seems ridiculously low.  Any advice? Would you biopsy again? She’s old enough at this point that I really feel I need her buy-in to keep her gluten-free, and she feels that if the doc says it’s fine, then that’s the final word — which makes me inclined to biopsy again and hope that it actually shows damage this time (not because I want her to have celiac like her sisters, but because I kind of think she already does have it, and seeing the damage now would save her more severe damage in the long run that would come from just continuing to eat gluten for a few more years before testing again.)  Our doc is great - we really like him. But we are very confused and want to protect her. One of her older sibs stopped growing and has lots of teeth problems and all that jazz from not catching the celiac disease sooner, and we don’t want to get to that point with the younger sis. fwiw- she doesn’t mind the biopsy at all. It’s at a children’s hospital and she thinks it’s kind of fun. So it’s not like that would stress her out or anything.

Thanks for the replies. I already use a gluten-free brand of buckwheat flakes I occasionally get itchy bumps. I'm still reviewing all my food products. I occasionally eat prepackaged gluten-free crackers and cookies, so I'll stop using those. I use buckwheat flakes and Doves Farm flour as a base for baking. Would you recommend eliminating those as well? It's a constant search.
