Good Monday me Sillies!!

Much to comment on:

Peters balls!

Nikki shopped victoriously on Ebay!!!

Bev's Silly links

Patti's tick bite :o

WE'VE SEEN PEOTER'S BALLS!!!!!!

Janet, I sure hope you're on here.. . . . ....that is just enough to cheer anybody up!!:lol:

 Oh ma gah!!! This cracked me up :giggle: :snort:

Janet!!! Psilly yerself up, STAT!!!! Here, have a cocktail....

Well........I am actually DONE with beans, except for a white kidney bean salad I make. Too much gaseous trauma.

Susie!! Did you get the charcoal that I suggested the last bean episode? It will at least break up and absorb the gaseousness.

Oh, he's been on my laminate list for quite some time. He was the Phantom of the Opera, he was the guy in the second Tomb Raider, he was Leonidas in 300, I'll watch anything that man is in. And you get to see him mostly naked in 300.

He was half naked a lot in P.S. I Love You, lots of shirt off in boxers action :D I am not kidding, next time Nikki is off to bonnie Scotland she MUST kidnap and bring me back my Gerard!!!!

Morning Psillies- I could use some psilly in me PICC line as I am getting the exact same rash that I had with PICC #2 and #3. UGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a dermatologist appt at 1:00 so hopefully we can nip in the bud. If not, that's it. Finito! I only have two arms <_<:(

Oh Bev :( I hope your appt goes well at the Dermatologist, I'll keep my fingers crossed that there is something they can do to alleviate the rash.

 so......yorkshire "pudding" is those biscuit-y things.....'tis what I thought. Why are they called pudding? Shouldn't they be called Yorkshire Soggy Corn Muffins? Some recipes call for them to have the beef juice/gravy in them....but not all. Am intrigued by these.....but i'm afraid I'll need Tel to make some for me. ;)

Yorkshire Puddings are (I believe) like our "popovers", light, airy, and fluffy and largely egg based, so kind of custardy in the middle.

Emily, glad yer basement didn't get any water damage :)

:lol: Mygawd - -phorgot to mention this to y'all this morning.......

Jack is fascinated with all things medical (hope he'll be a doc - - informed gastroenterologist, preferably)..... . He's constantly pouring over the internet and through books at the library about workings of the human body and its systems, medicines, diseases...... . .. . .

He came across a fascinating site yesterday and began furiously copying down facts. He has since told me that he will tell me these facts from time to time, and that I am to announce them in Sillyville.

He asked who our present monarch is, and whether he or she would have any problems with this (honestly, he did ask this  ). I suggested that since nothing will be in edict form, we should be okay. .. . . and besides, Janet needs some phunny, interesting stuff right now.

Here is the first phact that The Ripper shared wif me this am:

There are about one trillion bacteria on each of your feet.

but sillies - on Saturday there may have been some surreptitious activity by Stepford's gardener......

he got into the back of his tool trailer (kind of like a horse trailer, fully enclosed), pulled up the back, and stayed inside for at least 15 minutes (I wanted to talk to him and had to keep checking, this is how I know this  ). Um, it was too hot for a nap.......so I dunno what happened in there.....but I think for sure it's a cartel of some kind.

Oh -

This is for Em.......

OMG - I tried to brush Weezee's teef yesterday......what a savage ordeal. Lots of head-jerking and severe clamping shut of the mouth. Oh, very concentrated licking and licking of the doggie toofpaste that was deposited before she knew what I was doing.

Quite difficult to do this with just two hands.......one hand must clearly hold the brush and the other has to unclamp the mouth, hold the dog's head and body still, and peel back the lips/cheeks that are hiding the teeth.

Um, how do you do this for Gus? I was wrist-deep in light slobber at the end. She won't, I'm sure, let me come near her with that toothbrush again, but I WILL try it.....

Oh, gad, what a vile job........ . . . ..Soooozie, you must get one of PeOter's special doggie toothbrushes. It has helped the process immensely, and I don't really know why. Gus just seems to enjoy it when I use this brush - - he doesn't jerk his head away, no struggling... . . .I can do the whole top row before he moves his head outta my grip.

Well- saw dermatologist. It is allergic dermatitis. Can't wear anything but cotton gauze. I am phine with this but suspect I will have to become my own nurse because under the dressing (which is now NOT a sterile dressing) is supposed to be a sterile lock to hold it in place and a patch that covers it with antibacterial properties. who in hell DID come up with ph's? this would take weeks of research.

I would like to say, ahem, that I believe it was my late dog Stinker who came up with all the f's instead of th's. I agree, there can be contamination at many points--milling is another possible source of contamination for any flours.

Keep in mind that with manufactured food products, "gluten free" doesn't equate to no gluten. Things that are naturally gluten free can be cross-contaminated with gluten in the field, in shipping and in processing. In the U.S. companies can use the gluten free label as long as the product doesn't exceed 20ppm of gluten. That amount still may cause a reaction in some people.

Dd10 was tested for celiac four years ago bc two siblings were dx’d (positive labs and biopsies). Her results at the time were positive ema  and ttg (7x the UL), but a negative biopsy. We checked again three months later and her ttg was still positive (4x the UL), but ema and biopsy were negative. Doc said it was “potential celiac” and to keep eating gluten, but we were concerned about harming her growth and development while young and had her go gluten-free because we felt the labs and ema in particular were very suggestive of early celiac, despite the negative biopsies. She also had stomach aches and lethargy when eating it. We just felt it’d be better to be safe than sorry. Now, four years later, she doesn’t want to be gluten-free if she doesn’t “have to be,” so underwent a 12 week gluten challenge. She had labs done before starting and all looked great (celiac panel all negative, as expected.) Surprisingly, she experienced no noticeable symptoms when she began eating gluten again, which we felt was a positive sign. However, 12 weeks in, her labs are positive again (ttg 4x the UL and ema positive again as well). Doc says that since she feels fine and her previous two biopsies showed nothing, she can just keep eating gluten and we could maybe biopsy again in two years. I was looking up the ema test and the probability of having not just one but two false positives, and it seems ridiculously low.  Any advice? Would you biopsy again? She’s old enough at this point that I really feel I need her buy-in to keep her gluten-free, and she feels that if the doc says it’s fine, then that’s the final word — which makes me inclined to biopsy again and hope that it actually shows damage this time (not because I want her to have celiac like her sisters, but because I kind of think she already does have it, and seeing the damage now would save her more severe damage in the long run that would come from just continuing to eat gluten for a few more years before testing again.)  Our doc is great - we really like him. But we are very confused and want to protect her. One of her older sibs stopped growing and has lots of teeth problems and all that jazz from not catching the celiac disease sooner, and we don’t want to get to that point with the younger sis. fwiw- she doesn’t mind the biopsy at all. It’s at a children’s hospital and she thinks it’s kind of fun. So it’s not like that would stress her out or anything.

Thanks for the replies. I already use a gluten-free brand of buckwheat flakes I occasionally get itchy bumps. I'm still reviewing all my food products. I occasionally eat prepackaged gluten-free crackers and cookies, so I'll stop using those. I use buckwheat flakes and Doves Farm flour as a base for baking. Would you recommend eliminating those as well? It's a constant search.

Gluten free food is not fortified with vitamins and minerals as regular food is.  Vitamin deficiencies are common especially in recently diagnosed persons,  Get a 25(OH)Vitamin D blood test. And work on raising it.  The safe upper blood level is around 200 nmol/L.    "Low serum levels of 25(OH)D have been associated with increased risk of autoimmune disease onset and/or high disease activity. The role of vitamin D in autoimmune diseases   🏋️‍♂️Good job!   I find the commercial milk will give me mild stomach burn at night, while pasture/grassfed only milk does not bother me at all.  While you are healing, listen to your body.  If it hurts to eat something, eat something else.  You may be able to eat it later, or maybe it is just not good for you.  Lower your Omega 6 to 3 ratio of what you eat.  Most omega 6 fatty acids are inflammation causing.    The standard american diet omega 6:3 ratio is estimated at upward of 14:1.  Thats why fish oil works
