We opened all the family presents. The youngest would pass out the presents from under the tree, and the oldest would open first. We'd all take turns, each person opening one gift, and then on to the next oldest.

We are seven kids, and two parents, so this took a really long time. Hence the need for all that food.

Well, we're getting a blast of some southern system.....9 C today (about 50 F) and rain, rain, rain.....we're getting your weather, Queen Amanda! So, this will deplete the considerable snowbanks we have amassed here, just in time for the replenishment of same by the end of the week when we'll be getting flurries. . . .. ....

The transit strike continues, with all of its traffic bedlam, flaring tempers. . . .....

so John is home sick today. He has been ill over a week now, horrible stomach pains and such. It has been nasty....at first I thought it was gas pain but now I am not so sure.

I have an update on the coyote story. Can't remember if I told you the whole story - a coyote grabbed the neighbors cat in broad daylight. A woman working at my house yelled and kinda chased the coyote, who dropped the cat. The cat ran behind the woman and the coyote turned around and tried to get past her. She kept waving her arms and yelling and finally the coyote gave up.

I just found out that the cat showed up at his house 5 days later, in pretty bad shape. He was taken to the vet and stitched back up and appears to be making a full recovery (except for a pronounced aversion to the outdoors).

Which reminds me, Nik, Gail the Wackl wants to purchase many old (and cheap) black-and-white English DVD's as - get this - she's seen every single one (English AND American for that matter) that has ever run in this country MORE THAN ONCE (not kidding) so now - she wants to buy some she's never seen.......wants to make sure they have either really cozy English houses or castles or manors in them I don't even think the plot particularly matters - just the feel of it so she can pretend she's in England whilst in her cozy den [i shall join her in this in my OWN quest for English Cozy-ness]

I told her I"d run it by you She will send you money to scour the flea markets for such things

Good morning Sillies!

It's COLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Currently -1 degrees (degree?). Arnie is having a tough time outside, he just stops in his tracks and lifts his paws up and whinces. I think the snow is so cold it is burning/stinging his paws. So no evening poo, no morning poop thus far, poor little guy is holding it.

Went to get some of those doggie boots so hopefully that will help.
