Just checkin' in to say g'nite! Been learning how to mail-merge, with letters, AND business cards and labels whoohoooo! :P This part has been fun, but my head is just spinning. (I already have plans to start making our own personalized return address labels. How Koooool is that?) Obviously I am easily entertained and amused.

Sorry 'bout poor Smakkle! Lots of illnesses going around everywhere :(

I'm still finking long and hard about that real-life Av. I don't think I have anything current. (hint; my BIL nicknamed me Puny about 1 1/2 years ago....and he's still calling me that! How krewel our relatives can be :lol:<_< )

Hope everybody's fine and dandy and gets the best nites sleep they've had in ages!

  Well, we'll know tomorrow  also bought gourmet canned clams from same company, to make linguine w/ clam sauce (it's been a while, hints, anyone?)

the smoked herring was FANTASTIC!!!!!! I served it over deviled eggs with a bit of curry powder, on toast. Really, really yummy! I like smoked fish and - it seemed quite fresh and good. Oh, expiration date is a year from now......wonder if there's a labeling problem, and that's why they're at TJMaxx? Um......never really seen canned foods there before

But - at $2.99 a pop, I think I'll go get a couple more cans! (barring a bout of vomitociousness tomorrow)

Jules, I really enjoyed The Duchess! I think you will, too.

and I now have forks - pass the fish!

sending it yer way! But you'll have to fight the Weezel and Mr. Peanut for it first

Jan-it! Oh poor smack, glad he feels better after barphing.......yes, things always feel better after a good bargh, I find

TJ's frequently has outlandish gourmet stuff, in this area anyway. All of it's legit, I just think stuff gets overproduced and they'll sell cheapo prices, so TJ's picks it up. You find a lot around the holidays to.

Yay the picture thingy worked!!! Thanks Mmmmm.

 people don't understnad what a freakin' PAIN curly hair is. Um, it does NOT do what you want......it's a lifetime battle of frizz and crap.....is not usually as shiny as straight hair........ I would KILL for straight, glossy hair!!!!!!!

.....but straight hair does not necessarily mean shiny hair <_< ......wish it did

BTW Sillies wif cats.........do they just ATTACK you when you are eating? For example, I am sittin' at the computer wif my bowl of yogurt and he is just STALKING and STALKING me....I keep swatting him  off the desk, as he comes back again and AGAIN, in hopeful approach.....this happens constantly.

I used to have a cat many years ago who would attack you if you scratched an itch. He would also wait around a corner in stalk mode for you to walk past him.

......and if a friend walked in the front door, they would have a cat wrapped around their legs!:lol::lol:

We finally decided to get another cat to give him someone to play with :P

Mr. Peanut is the name, I am certain of it. Alas, have just seen many photos of tabbeigh kittehs, who look just like Peeghgnut, and, they are not so pea-nutty any more, as they are big.

What will I call li'l Peanut when he is grown up?

Everyone's life can be improved by a kitty.

 methinks this is true.....and also, this wee kitteh makes things somehow charmingly more complicated at the same time  (Weez starts heading to my room for bed MUCH earlier now, with a desperate, imploring look in her eyes, when she has had enough of Mr. Peeghnutt's wildness)

So . .. .. .didn't have any cranial upswing yesterday & was worried - perhaps for naught as today seems >60%. :)

Even solved a sticky test program problem at work - one well beyond my current pay grade. So many levels of complexity upon (layers of complexity)8

Brain recovery probably pretty much due to going back to THE boringest basics on the food. No experiments, tests, pop quizzes or succumbing to temptations.

Mornin' Psills! Sonny here today and s'posed to get to 50 degrees! YAY! Wish it would stay warm.

To answer Ems ??....I am 5'4 (about average height...maybe?) 2 years ago my weight plummeted as I "hit bottom". I think I was about 100 lbs (I won't use scales...I hate the things). I HAVE gained some back.....*I* think I've gained enough but "other" people don't agree. 'Nuff sed.

Mail merge in fairly easy with Word 2007. I bought the Office Suite and am attempting to learn to use it. Taking lots more time than I thought it would. Some of it's really fun....some of it is terribly boring!

I was typing an email to my younger sis last night. As I started to proof read before I sent it.....oh! Wow! It was full of psilly shpellings and I had to correct it all! I've always prided myself on the ability to spell....and I think I've ruined it!!!:lol:

Losing 12" of your small bowel is going to present challenges for you in nutritional uptake because you are losing a significant amount of nutritional absorption surface area. You will need to focus on consuming foods that are nutritionally dense and also probably look at some good supplements. If indeed you are having issues with gluten you will need to educate yourself as to how gluten is hidden in the food supply. There's more to it than just avoiding the major sources of gluten like bread and pasta. It is hidden in so many things you would never expect to find it in like canned tomato soup and soy sauce just to name a few. It can be in pills and medications.  Also, your "yellow diarrhea, constipation and bloating" though these are classic signs of a gluten disorder, could also be related to the post surgical shorter length of your small bowel causing incomplete processing/digestion of food.
    • Ello
Yes this information helps. I will continue to be pro active with this issues I am having. More testing to be done. Thank you so much for your response.
    • trents
There are two gluten-related disorders that share many of the same symptoms but differ in nature from each other. One is known as celiac disease or "gluten intolerance". By nature, it is an autoimmune disorder, meaning the ingestion of gluten triggers the body to attack it's own tissues, specifically the lining of the small bowel. This attack causes inflammation and produces antibodies that can be detected in the blood by specific tests like the TTG-IGA test you had. Over time, if gluten is not withheld, this inflammation can cause severe damage to the lining of the small bowel and even result in nutrient deficiency related health issues since the small bowel lining is organ where all the nutrition found in our food is absorbed.  The other is NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity or just "gluten sensitivity") which we know less about and are unsure of the exact mechanism of action. It is not an autoimmune disorder and unlike celiac disease it does not damage the lining of the small bowel, though, like celiac disease, it can cause GI distress and it can also do other kinds of damage to the body. It is thought to be more common than celiac disease. Currently, we cannot test for NCGS. Celiac disease must first be ruled out to arrive at a diagnosis of NCGS. Both disorders require elimination of gluten from the diet.  Either of these disorders can find their onset at any stage of life. We know that celiac disease has a genetic component but the genes are inactive until awakened by some stress event. About 40% of the general population has the genetic potential to develop celiac disease but only about 1% develop active celiac disease. The incidence of NCGS is thought to be considerably higher. I hope this helps.

I have always eaten gluten and never stopped until my recent episode. I started more wheat products as my Dr. requested for the Tissue Transglutaminase Iga Antibody. mye result Value <1.0 Value interpretation: <15.0 Antibody not detected > or =15.0 Antibody detected I do not understand any of it. After eating all that wheat product my body exploded with all sorts of symptoms. I stop gluten ASAP. I am still in the healing process. I started having issues after my surgery.
    • trents
Welcome to the celic.com community @Ello! You say you had a blood test for celiac disease after eating gluten for 2 weeks. Were you gluten free before that? Had you ever been officially diagnosed with celiac disease previously? You say the result of the blood test was 1.5. Can you provide the name of the test and the reference range for negative vs. positive for the test? I ask because different labs used different reference ranges so scores without a reference range aren't very helpful.
