OK. So I'm at the eye doctor, reading the giant print Reader's Digest while waiting for my eyes to dilate. I'm at some glurpy article titled something like 10 things to be glad about, you know, like world peace and stuff. I made it to No. 5 - Horns of plenty.  I couldn't tell you what they were trying to discuss, 'cause by then I was only able to do headlines, but I couldn't imagine needing anything to be glad about, beyond a good, solid Horn o'

Plenty...

If your into Karl Jung and his theories....lets see if I can remember enough to make sense....

That all people share a Universal Consciousness that is our most basic link to one another. This is why we often have dreams that don't fit into our own lives (of situations, times, places we have not yet seen). He uses this to explain "genetic" memory, as well as why in times of great invention there are generally multiples of people who "come up with" and try to develop the same ideas at about the same time.

So.....either the idea generated here and floated out into the universe....or someone "caught" the idea from the Universal Consciousness slip stream and it made its way here! :P Of course, how obviously simple :lol::lol:

EM - A _ Lyre....sorry about the laptop! Man! Are you able to go into safety mode? Does it let you System Restore to an earlier set-up?

If noTHing else...take it to Staples. They can check it out for you....that is, if you don't already have someone that you trust to do this. My telehubby had to take his there (we already got "burned by some "professional" outfit down here). We are fortunate to have found a fellow employed by Staples that really knows his stuff! He (hubby) had picked up a nasty virus in spite of the wall.

It may be nothing more than using your disc....Staples may even be able to tell you how to do that if you're not sure. Good luck!

Mornin', gang!

Thanks SO much fer your jumpin'-onboard computer troubleshooting, Jess and POeter!

I have been tearing apart my office searching for a Windows XP C/D......nowhere. There are a couple of sites I've glanced at telling me that I can burn such a thing from webistes that are given (finding that hard to believe when it must be purchased for $60 anywhere else), and haven't had time to take it any further....will check that out more closely, I suppose.

I think I'll be taking it to my friendly computer geek man who will fix it in a half-hour, instead of me taking a whole day . . .at the same time I will have him install Microsoft Word, as so often I've wanted to write something in a file while out on the deck.

He can also install AVG for me - - I cannot seem to get it on there. . . .

Just HATE parting with the $$$ right now!:angry: Poop-a-doop.

but I couldn't imagine needing anything to be glad about, beyond a good, solid Horn o' Plenty...

:lol: Yep. Reader's Digest has always, historically, had it's thumb on the pulse of everything that truly matters in the world.

Gah! Remember when I stumbled upon the article "I Am Fifi's Anal Glands"?? Talk about cutting-edge and pertinent!

:( Ahhhhh . . . No . . . change of plans. I'm not even sure what we'll end up doing but we are staying flexible so that I can go home that week. Hubby might take (drive) the kids to Virginia to spend some time at his brother's "country house" and spend a little time in D.C. . . or . . . we might all go to Pere Marquette State Park in Illinois so that I can see my parents and the kids can do some hiking and head into St. Louis to see the arch. My brother from Washington is flying in for a long weekend in two weeks to see mom & dad and I will head home then, too, so we'll have a small family get together.

My SIL tells me that spring break isn't the best time to come see them. They live about 3 hours Southwest of Seattle and the road conditions aren't predictable (pesky Mt Rainier). . . she recommends coming in June. She was also talking about just meeting us in Seattle . . . do you think she doesn't really want us at her house??

WHY

ITALIANS CAN'T BE PARAMEDICS

Vinny and Sal are out in the woods hunting when suddenly Sal grabs his chest and falls

to the ground. He doesn't seem to be breathing; his eyes are rolled

back in his head.

Vinny whips out his cell phone and calls 911. He

gasps to the operator, "I think Sal is dead! What should I do?"

The operator, in a calm soothing voice says, "Just take it easy and follow my

instructions. First, let's make sure he's dead."

There is silence. . .

and then a shot is heard.

Vinny's voice comes back on the

line.

"Okay, now what?"

Question for y'all.

I have instant pudding mix - assorted flavors - and I'd like to make some. My choices for liquid are: mojito mix, margarita mix, red wine, and scotch.

What would work best?

I also have a bit of french vanilla coffee creamer stuff, if that'll help.

Uhhhh.... Don't you normally put ... milk.... in pudding?

I don't think alcohol would allow it to set. But a red wine-fruit flavor might be ok.

   true dat

so - I can go to FLAIR buttons and.......put in, say, KITTEH? er sumfin? or - poop? vomit? anal glands?

speaking of poop - - I have GOT to get a link to this page of a magazine I perused whilst held hostage at hair salon the other day........some PHAMOUS designer re-did her guest house and........was the MOST SCARY and garish thing I've ever seen - - supposed to be so posh and was just a 70's amalgamation of purple and pink horror, the kind of rooms you'd see and just go - WHAT IN HELL? NEEDS TO BE REDONE IMMEDIATELY

so - in this one massively-clashing room - - - sooooooooo fascinating and riveting I stared at the page transfixed for - a full three minutes? studying details of the cacaphonous design schemata.....dear gawd........wanted to run screaming around the salon and show it to everyone......$300-a-yard fabrics that looked like.......abstract vomit scheme or summat? (let me tell you what *I* could do with $300 fabrics <_< )

so - on the wall of her PREPOSTEROUS living room was this piece of "art" - - referenced as a "whimsical swirl piece" or something and.......seriously, it was just a GIANT PIECE OF WHITE POOP painted on dark background    Honest to God - a piece of soft, squishy dog poo, much like the kind occasionally found in my back yard, that maintains its swirl shape, points on top and bottom and a solid curl in the middle......... A large piece that I think would make EVERYONE stop and think - phecal matter......right up there on the wall......

 Makes me larph, even now - I must find this -

Emperor's New Clothes............ I want to write and tell her this

and in other news - -

sillies -- I am going to stay in bed the entire weekend :( Everything is suck-y

wish I had a laptop, I could just chat all day from me bed - 'bout nuttin' of course

Love Em's perfect baby photo from Walmart  they photoshopped the eyes, you know.

Dang......did it again and yeah I should admit I am 63 with clumsy phone thumbs. I started feeling better quickly and a doctor a year later said I had to eat  poison (gluten) every day for a month so he could formally diagnose me and NO FREAKING WAY. I couldn't then and can't imagine putting my body through that crap (no pun intended) on purpose ever again.  Why ingest poison for a month to have some doctor say Hey, All you Have To Do Is Never Eat poison Again..

15 years ago my best friend 'diagnosed' me as Celiac. Her little nephew had been formally diagnosed and her observations of me dealing with brain fog, stomach problems and other stuff had her convincing me to try going gluten free. Oh my heavens, within 3 days, no lie, I felt human again. Took me about a y

It seems like you have two choices--do a proper gluten challenge and get re-tested, or just go gluten-free because you already know that it is gluten that is causing your symptoms. In order to screen someone for celiac disease they need to be eating gluten daily, a lot of it--they usually recommend at least 2 slices of wheat bread daily for 6-8 weeks before a blood screening, and at least 2 weeks before an endoscopy (a colonoscopy is no used to diagnose celiac disease). Normally the blood panel is your first step, and if you have ANY positive results there for celiac disease the next step would be to take biopsies of your villi via an endoscopy given by a gastroenterologist.  More info on the blood tests and the gluten challenge beforehand is below: The article includes the "Mayo Clinic Protocol," which is the best overall protocol for results to be ~98% accurate. Here is more info about how to do a gluten challenge for a celiac disease blood panel, or for an endoscopy: and this recent study recommends 4-6 slices of wheat bread per day:   Not to discourage you from a formal diagnosis, but once you are diagnosed it may lead to higher life and medical insurance rates (things will be changing quickly in the USA with the ACA starting in 2026), as well as the need to disclose it on job applications. While I do think it's best to know for sure--especially because all of your first degree relatives should also get screened for it--I also want to disclose some negative possibilities around a formal diagnosis that you may want to also consider.
    • Wheatwacked
Yes.  Now, if you hit your finger with a hammer once, wouldn't you do your best not to do it again?  You have identified a direct connection between gluten and pain.  Gluten is your hammer.  Now you have to decide if you need a medical diagnosis.  Some countries have aid benefits tgat you can get if you have the diagnosis, but you must continue eating a gluten-normal diet while pursuing the diagnosis. Otherwise the only reason to continue eating gluten is social. There are over 200 symptoms that could be a result of celiac disease.. Celiac Disease and Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity  both cause multiple vitamin and mineral deficiency.  Dealing with that should help your recovery, even while eating gluten.  Phosphatidyl Choline supplements can help your gut if digesting fats is a problem,  Consider that any medications you take could be causing some of the symptoms, aside from gluten.
