Ok- getting a little misty-eyed here. I found the student who is the reason I became a teacher! I was only going to do it for a year and then I had this student who had been brutally mistreated by his teachers- called lazy, never going to become anything. But he was sweet kind and smart.

And guess what? He DID become something: Open Original Shared Link

Gosh. We have a big storm from Alaska headed toward us. :o

Whoa! That's Ottawa weather!

I had a 7th grader say "Hey- you wore that shirt LAST Thursday too!" Thank you for tracking my fashion

:lol: Do you know, what is even funnier is that I've heard this kind of thing from my students, as well.. . . . .....35-year old diplomats!!

And guess what? He DID become something: Open Original Shared Link

Bev!! What a terrific story! And this talented man's success is due completely to you. You need to get in touch with him and demand one of those beautiful ceramic pots in return for all you've done for him!....'Tis the very least he can do . . .. . ..

Well.....I can certainly see how you would suspect it might be me. But you see, like the reject photos that I clandestinely leave in the Walmart frames, I would only leave reject teeth in their wallets. All would have to be cracked, filled, chipped. . ....... .. ....most of these teeth were in pristine shape.

Why would anybody leave great pics or great teeth within Walmart products??

That is just nuts!!

I emailed him and said Hey- is this you? It's your English teacher from 15 years ago (stalker? ). Either way, you're pottery's great!

He really is the reason I went into teaching. He was such a good kid- so much potential but had been beaten down by his teachers. I had him as a student when I was a tutor at a ski academy (the kids left their home schools for 6 months- tutoring in the a.m. and training in the afternoon, competing on the weekend). Amazing mogul skier!

At the end of the season, he gave me this note- he had made a mandala and inside written me a thank you note. Gawd, I miss that job!

Does seem awfully quiet here today. Niknik has resorted to posting elsewhere! :D Are you sure you're allowed out of Psillyville? Of course!

Really nice here today...I worked outside in a sleeveless shirt! Almost as good as summer...YAHOOOOOO! I started terracing the hill in the back yard last year...worked on that some more. Telehubby is building a swing/glider to go back there. Can't wait!

POeter's in HEAT??

...All those pizzles he's got in stock...... . . .

<_<

psawyer Proficient

Hmmm.

Is "being in heat" in any way related to "having the hots?"

The heat wave is subsiding. It is down to 5oC, and tomorrow will not reach double digits. It is expected to rain in the afternoon and evening. Most of the snaugh has turned to water and run away.

Bev, your teacher and former student story resonated with me. Sometimes paths recross years later. The man who unsuccessfully tried to teach me English Literature in the 12th grade is a customer in my store. English Lit just wasn't something I took to. B)

Good Morning, Tareeeeesuh! I see ya!

Hope you have more stupendous weather down your way... . .I can hear in your voice (writing?) how excited you are to be outside playing in your yard!

I have been staring at the white siding wall that is the back of our garage for some time now.......being an artist, I just need to fill big white spaces like that. I have some experience painting outdoor murals, and have been long researching what paint would work on the aluminum.

Well....all of a sudden, the plans have changed. Yesterday I stopped in my tracks outside one of our local art shops.....there I saw these big series of metal works, meant to be hung against a wall. I bought them immediately, not even knowing if they will lie flat against the siding, if they will completely rust within a month. . . ...

Crazy, impulsive artistic-emotions-are-stirred buying. <_<

I will coat them with marine varnish, and see how things go.......will put up a pic.

English Lit just wasn't something I took to.

What? Hmmmmm....ya didn't have the right teacher. . . .. ... B)

This is phunny, POeter, as you have such a literary family and you write so well yourself.

Have you tried Pure Encapsulations supplements? This is a brand my doctor recommends for me. I have no issues with this brand.

plant sources of calcium, such as spinach, have calcium bound to oxalates, which is not good. best source of calcium is unfortunately dairy, do you tolerate dairy? fermented dairy like kefir is good and or a little hard cheese. i do eat dairy, i can only take so much dietary restriction and gluten is hard enough! but i guess some people do have bad reactions to it, so different for everyone.

i take b12, folate, b2, b6, glycine, Nac, zinc, vk2 mk4, magnesium, coq10, pqq, tmg, creatine, omega 3, molybdnem (sp) and just started vit d. quite a list i know.  I have high homocysteine (last checked it was 19, but is always high and i finally decided to do something about it) and very low vitamin d, 10. have been opposed to this supp in the past, but going to try it at 5k units a day. having a pth test on friday, which is suspect will be high. my homocysteine has come down to around 9 with 3 weeks of these supplements and expect it to go down further. i also started on estrogen/progesterone. I have osteoporosis too, so that is why the hormones.  anyway, i think all celiacs should have homocysteine checked and treated if needed (easy enough with b vit, tmg). homocysteine very bad thing to be high for a whole host of reasons. all the bad ones, heart attack , stroke, alzi, cancer..... one of the most annoying things about celiacs (and there are so many!) is the weight gain. i guess i stayed thin all those years being undiagnosed because i was under absorbing everything including calories. going gluten-free and the weight gain has been terrible, 30#, but i'm sure a lot more went into that (hip replacement - and years of hip pain leading to inactivity when i was previously very active, probably all related to celiacs, menopause) yada yada. i seemed to lose appetite control, like there was low glp, or leptin or whatever all those hormones are that tell you that you are full and to stop eating. my appetite is immense and i'm never full. i guess decades or more ( i think i have had celiacs since at least my teens - was hospitalized for abdominal pain and diarrhea for which spastic colon was eventually diagnosed and had many episodes of diarrhea/abdominal pain through my 20's. but that symptom seemed to go away and i related it to dairy much more so than gluten. Also my growth was stunted, i'm the only shorty in my family. anyway, decades of malabsorption and maldigestion led to constant hunger, at least thats my theory. then when i started absorbing normally, wham!! FAT!!!

Great advise there I agree with the aniexty part, and the aura migraine has I suffer both, I've also read some great books that have helped I'm going too look the one you mentioned up too thankyou for that, I find a camomile tea just a small one and a gentle wind down before bed has helped me too, I suffer from restless leg syndrome and nerve pain hence I don't always sleep well at the best of times , racing mind catches up I have decorated my whole house in one night in my mind before 🤣 diet changes mindset really help , although I have to say it never just disappears, I find once I came to terms with who I am I managed a lot better  , a misconception is for many to change , that means to heal but that's not always the case , understanding and finding your coping mechanisms are vital tools , it's more productive to find that because there is no failure then no pressure to become something else , it's ok to be sad it's ok to not sleep , it's ok to worry , just try to see it has a journey not a task 🤗

I agree there I've tryed this myself to prove I can't eat gluten or lactose and it sets me back for about a month till I have to go back to being very strict to settle again
