Do you think it could swim??

This was a huge concern for Jack.....he did NOT want to kill the wee thing, but he didn't think he could get it out the cat door without it squirming out of his fingers.....the toilet was quite close, so in a mad, stress-laden decision, that's where it went. . . . .....

I'm sure it could swim. . . .....just not fer too long. I think it's all kind of bugging Jack, now....post-traumatic guilt, and all.

"You did that mouse a huge favour, Jack!", I've been saying reassuringly, "He would have faced a horrid, long, torturous death at the claws of Bryce, had you not stepped in. He was probably half-dead when you got to him, anyway".

Jack is just looking sad and resigned :( , quietly saying, "I dunno......he was squirming pretty hard". . . . . ......

HEY! It's just a mouse! :unsure::huh:<_<

jerseyangel Proficient

Poor Jack :( I understand how he feels, but I do agree that the mouse probably would have died as a result of the bite anyway--it just would have taken longer.

Pheel better, Jack :D

okay well.......my dad was THE smartest man I've ever known - just tortuously and lethally smart, and hardly liked any people at all - introverted and quiet, he had just a handful of very close friends and, kind of worked himself to an early grave. Loved my mom, worked very hard and excelled in his career, and liked things very quiet and orderly.....he was only a tiny bit sillie, goofy with us sometimes but.....not much. My mom - now as you know Janie is wackl  They really loved each other and loved all the same things, adn I always remember them either sitting in their room with the fire going at night, reading, chatting, watching summat on the telly, or outside in nice weather, sitting on the back patio, drinking wine and holding hands. :)

Wayne.......stepdad....polar opposite!!!! His parents moved to that rip-roarin' Central Valley stink town (dairy stink) called Chowchilla during the Dust Bowl and are literally Dust Bowl Oakies! He is quiet, amiable, simple, works veyr hard and is excelling in the career that he found later in life (real estate), is very kind to us and to all and very loyal, and has never read a book in the whole time my mom's known him (my parents devoured books together), and has not ONE SHRED of sillie. (drives me mum nuts) They love each other very much, but don't love the same things. He is, um, as far right a Republican that you can possibly be. We NEVER discuss politics  But I like him quite a lot.

both are white men, average size, and, I don't think they make ice.

and there you have Soozle's history of the two father figgers in her life *snort*

okay <_< that is NOT the infomercials of which I speak. oh no. That was entertaining, silly, slightly wackl and tongue-in-cheek, no?

I am talking about......the Magic Bullet.....the Jack Lalanne Juicer.....The exercise videos...the fake talk shows, with a "guest" being queried by a "host" about some ridiculous product....the really, really bad ones with the fake audiences who make "ahhhhhhh" noises on command and stare at each other whilst smiling eagerly and nodding their heads

Hilariously boring

the cham cloth video  fantastic.....they remind me of those two guys in Flight of the Conchords

Wow

If you remember, Em named Wayne and I named Steve--sillie connection????? I think so :o

I love this kinda stuff!

I just can't figure.......but what DOES it mean and.......

I'm more concerned that it took me.......two days to make the connection that both were named after me mum's husbands

poor Jack! :( yes, tell him the mouse would have had a savage fate at the hands of Kittehs

Jules! nice to see you, though you sound.....quiet. I hope you're feeling okay....a blizzard? we have almost 80 degrees here

Sillies - - some trauma in the orchard, and I don't know the outcome.... :(

We walked into our sneak entrance, and at the very far end (maybe half a mile away) we saw a very large creature pass from orchard to fence, then just stand there....Weez approached cautiously, and I caught up.

Well, it was a very tall dog, maybe 150 pounds, mostly Great Dane, limping badly and...scared to death. Growling fiercely and hair raised at Weez. Very obviously in pain.

It took me 10 minutes to get close to him, very, very slowly.....and another five to get my hand near his collar. so, I finally was able to touch the collar - had to PRAY to read the writing on it as didn't have my glasses! pharking loss of vision  VERY bad in an emergency!

I was finally able to make out the number, adn called......got a little girl with quavery voice who burst into tears when I asked if they had a dog named Louie.....

Louie had been hit by a car this morning, whilst out running with the dad, and ran away....they've been looking for him all day.

So, I met the dad out in front of the orchard, and we ran back to Louie, who freaked out and ran AWAY from his dad, clear out the other exit of the orchard! :o:(:( (is that normal? I can't imagine Weez running away from me in that situation?)

So - I never saw either of them again - they both ran, Louie's foot is mostly likely broken (according to the dad), and they both were running out onto the street when I last saw them.

:(

Oh Sills, I am tempted to drive my car back out there and wait by the man's car, to see what happened but....my heart can't take any bad news. He was the most BEAUTIFUL, big boy, with fearful, solemn, light golden brown eyes.

At least he was running in the direction of home when I left......

gah! I think I'll make a fuzzy now..........

Soooozle! What a sad story. .. . SO good that you were there at the right time, and got the family's phone # and called them......you know, there aren't a lot of people who would do that (can you imagine? ).....

Ya did all you could, Soooze!

jerseyangel Proficient

OMG Suz--it's lucky that you happened upon the poor thing and called the owner. You did do all you could, and more than a lot would. Hopefully, Louie's owner caught up with him and got him to the vet. :) I'm sure that when he was able to get on his trail, he would get to him sooner or later.

Em.....I saw you over on another thread organizing a parade!!! Are you two timin' us, er sumphin???? :P

left them a message to call me - we will see

I just had a glass of wine....no fuzzies today.....but might smoke half a clove in back yard - don't tell anyone

OH!!!!!!!!!!!! Louie's owner just called me!!!!!!! HE IS OKAY!!!!!!!! He ran adn ran and kept running, ran all the way home, got there and ran upstairs into his bed......they took him to the vet and, no broken bones, just a bad bruise and sprain!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Park Service is all in a tizzy. Lots of changes in Law Enforcement (which our department falls under), much of which we are not thrilled about, tho' the reasoning is understandable (I guess). We still don't know the extent of the fallout, so we'll see. Much staff cutting going on. Hours are being cut, re-organized, twiddled with :( . We'll know soon enough. Would like definitive answers so I can make decisions on how to best deal with it all. Hate being left hanging (Andy Rooney pops into my brain to whisper in his nasally voice.."don't you just hate that?" )

Glad to read you all, and am chuckling at the psilliness. Psuess....I love your happy ending! Pah-tay survived the tornado...yay! Knew you would!

Twilight zone mysteries....Steve and Wayne :o ...luv it! (My ex was Steve....not normal.....not black....did not make ice but used a lot of it in mixed drinks :P ......I've known several Waynes....did not like any of them :P )

Karry on all......long live the psilly!

Suz--I enjoyed hearing the story of yer dad and stepdad :D

Excessive dietary tyrosine can cause problems.  Everything in moderation.   Sulfites can also trigger migraines. Sulfites are found in fermented, pickled and aged foods, like cheese.  Sulfites cause a high histamine release.  High histamine levels are found in migraine.  Following a low histamine diet like the low histamine Autoimmune Protocol diet, a Paleo diet, helps immensely.    Sulfites and other migraine trigger foods can cause changes in the gut microbiome.  These bad bacteria can increase the incidence of migraines, increasing histamine and inflammation leading to increased gut permeability (leaky gut), SIBO, and higher systemic inflammation.   A Ketogenic diet can reduce the incidence of migraine.  A Paleo diet like the AIP diet, that restricts carbohydrates (like from starchy vegetables) becomes a ketogenic diet.  This diet also changes the microbiome, eliminating the bad bacteria and SIBO that cause an increase in histamine, inflammation and migraine.  Fewer bad bacteria reduces inflammation, lowers migraine frequency, and improves leaky gut. Since I started following the low histamine ketogenic AIP paleo diet, I rarely get migraine.  Yes, I do eat carbs occasionally now, rice or potato, but still no migraines.  Feed your body right, feed your intestinal bacteria right, you'll feel better.  Good intestinal bacteria actually make your mental health better, too.  I had to decide to change my diet drastically in order to feel better all the time, not just to satisfy my taste buds.  I chose to eat so I would feel better all the time.  I do like dark chocolate (a migraine trigger), but now I can indulge occasionally without a migraine after.   Microbiota alterations are related to migraine food triggers and inflammatory markers in chronic migraine patients with medication overuse headache https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11546420/

Then we would need to cut out all meat and fish as they are richer sources of tyrosine than nuts and cheese. Something else about certain tyrosine rich foods must be the actual culprit.

I agree that KAN-101 looks promising, and hope the fast track is approved. From our article below: "KAN-101 shows promise as an immune tolerance therapy aiming to retrain the immune system, potentially allowing safe gluten exposure in the future, but more clinical data is needed to confirm long-term effects."
    • Scott Adams
Thank you so much for having the courage to share this incredibly vivid and personal experience; it's a powerful reminder of how physical ailments can disrupt our fundamental sense of self. What you're describing sounds less like a purely psychological body dysmorphia and more like a distinct neurological event, likely triggered by the immense physical stress and inflammation that uncontrolled celiac disease can inflict on the entire body, including the nervous system. It makes complete sense that the specific sensory input—the pressure points of your elbows on your knees—created a temporary, distorted body map in your brain, and the fact that it ceased once you adopted a gluten-free diet is a crucial detail. Your intuition to document this is absolutely right; it's not "crazy" but rather a significant anecdotal data point that underscores the mysterious and far-reaching ways gluten can affect individuals. Your theory about sensory triggers from the feet for others is also a thoughtful insight, and sharing this story could indeed be validating for others who have had similar, unexplainable sensory disturbances, helping them feel less alone in their journey.
    • Scott Adams
The most common nutrient deficiencies associated with celiac disease that may lead to testing for the condition include iron, vitamin D, folate (vitamin B9), vitamin B12, calcium, zinc, and magnesium.  Unfortunately many doctors, including my own doctor at the time, don't do extensive follow up testing for a broad range of nutrient deficiencies, nor recommend that those just diagnosed with celiac disease take a broad spectrum vitamin/mineral supplement, which would greatly benefit most, if not all, newly diagnosed celiacs. Because of this it took me decades to overcome a few long-standing issues I had that were associated with gluten ataxia, for example numbness and tingling in my feet, and muscle knots--especially in my shoulders an neck. Only long term extensive supplementation has helped me to resolve these issues.
