Lots o' wind and power fluctuations here. A light that I thought was burned out and just haven't bothered to change just started working again. :o

Coincidence?? I think not. Clearly the spirit of some past lightbulb has been blown into my house and taken up residence in the empty lightbulb casing.

'Tis kleerly a case of paranormal elektrik fenomena!!! I used to have a thing with street lights. When I drove by, walked by, went anywhere near them....with alarming regularity they would blink out. Happened so often I had to wonder......but what did it mean?:unsure:

Can't say if it still would happen.....as street lights are far away, and I rarely drive at night anymore. Perhaps I have some huge reserve of Psykik Powers that I don't know how to use :lol:

Hope all is well in Psillyville. BTW.....how is SamHillManhead these days? He was phun!

Spring birdies have been arriving. We have Rufus sided Towhees, Baltimore Orioles (1 pair that we know of), RedHeaded Woodpeckers (4 of them), Indigo Buntings, lots of Warblers passing through, I'm hearing a Thrush in the woods, and a Thrasher. So much fun to see and try to get pictures of! This year I've decided to put oranges out for the Orioles. Didn't take them long to find it (brings them down from the treetops and closer to the house). Realized that lots of other birds like them too.

I lurve the (non-car-type) birdies . . . got a pair of extremely vocal house wrens moving into the bird house outside my kitchen window as I type. Perhaps you recall that my stalker bird was a house wren . . . realllllly hard for me too tell if he's one of the pair. I shall assume that he is as it is the perfect location for a stalker!!

Went for a little bit of a boat ride last night (brrrrrr chilly). Neighbors got a boat about a month ago (passed down from the hubby's dad) so we took the kids out to the middle of the reservoir and drifted around, admired the poor folks lake front houses and ate some supper. Neighbor's hubby was letting all the kids putter about drive :o with Smackl being the oldest of the lot but as no one else was out, not much trouble for them to get in to.

Hey, Gang!

Must go do sumfin'... . .. . ..physical.. . . .. late night full o' food I couldn't touch, then some I could and which I inhaled.. . .. fantastic Chilean white, hockey dads with interesting thumbs. ...... ..then party number two, quiet, artsy pholk with stories about existential travels, birthing in a bathtub, the last Marxist symposium in our fair city...... . .. .

The second location brought me somewhat close to drunkedness. . . .. .

But NO squillion-dollar cognac!!! Soooozle, that is something worth remembering, even if the bloke ends up a needy, pestering sociopath-stalker. . . . ...

Big Fluffy Helmet...dey used to pass those out in health class, din't dey?

Hey! They make fluffy ones? With different pile lengths, I'd imagine. . . ..

So what's a little stalking amongst lovers? You probably won't even notice when he goes through your garbage...

but what is Jose the teeny gardener going to say? Poor guy, his widdle 'eart will be bwoken :(

That poor teeny Hispanic man. He may come in handy, SOoooze, if he is obsessed with you. He can keep an eye on the stalker, jump out in front of him as he begins to rummage quietly through your garbage, li'l pitchfork in hand.. . . . . .....

And there I am, 17 years older than she, wearing loose-fitting top and baggy pants, with a distinct and unwanted bit of phrizz to me hair.

So why dinna you burst into song, Ms. Boyle??

Jyess has weird, ghostly things happening. . . ... . .this type of occurrence follows you, Jyesssss...remember those odd, cold breezes that envelop you when you walk by that graveyard. .. . . . . .

Well, my first venture of the day was to run outside in my all-together and chase away the coyote.

I'm beginning to think that the difference between predator and prey is the firm knowledge that you will win this, as both of us were convinced this morning that that puppy was going down if he didn't scurry.

Now the cats are all upset and growling and I am just starting my second cup o' coffee.

But since I still have all my cats AND coffee, it seems it's going to be a fine day. :)

Sounds like a HEMINGWAY opener...

"She was in a broken down, dirty little pub dringing Louis Tres. A man approached and offered her a clove. From Monday e'er on, she would drink deeply of the mystery of love."

No?

OK. From one be-stalked to a nutter--lose him. He sounds like the type that actually will go through your garbage and call your mother's private phone, and go through your car, and send falsified e-mails to your boss. Run, stage your own funeral, tell him you prefer the company of sane Mexican gardeners and have joined the peace corps.

well, this is the sad part. He is ADORABLE. really. Very much my type, very sweet, educated (received two college scholarships) but not overly so, very warm, very funny and amiable and......I was getting about as wackl and silly as I could be, just so giddy from my miniscule portion of the Liquid of Love, and he thought I was the funniest thing ever (I wasn't even really using my inside voice  as Fluff had to remind me )

So - this CUTE GUY (raised in Detroit until he was 13, Mimms!!!!!!!!) told us nearly immediately that he had no family...his mom died when he was 13......he doesn't know who his real father is and.....his story is like that one from "The Boy Called 'It'" :(

Currently, there are no tests for NCGS. Celiac disease must first be ruled out and we do have testing for celiac disease. There are two primary test modalities for diagnosing celiac disease. One involves checking for antibodies in the blood. For the person with celiac disease, when gluten is ingested, it produces an autoimmune response in the lining of the small bowel which generates specific kinds of antibodies. Some people are IGA deficient and such that the IGA antibody tests done for celiac disease will have skewed results and cannot be trusted. In that case, there are IGG tests that can be ordered though, they aren't quite as specific for celiac disease as the IGA tests. But the possibility of IGA deficiency is why a "total IGA" test should always be ordered along with the TTG-IGA. The other modality is an endoscopy (scoping of the upper GI track) with a biopsy of the small bowel lining. The aforementioned autoimmune response produces inflammation in the small bowel lining which, over time, damages the structure of the lining. The biopsy is sent to a lab and microscopically analyzed for signs of this damage. If the damage is severe enough, it can often be spotted during the scoping itself. The endoscopy/biopsy is used as confirmation when the antibody results are positive, since there is a small chance that elevated antibody test scores can be caused by things other than celiac disease, particularly when the antibody test numbers are not particularly high. If the antibody test numbers are 10x normal or higher, physicians will sometimes declare an official diagnosis of celiac disease without an endoscopy/biopsy, particularly in the U.K. Some practitioners use stool tests to detect celiac disease but this modality is not widely recognized in the medical community as valid. Both celiac testing modalities outlined above require that you have been consuming generous amounts of gluten for weeks/months ahead of time. Many people make the mistake of experimenting with the gluten free diet or even reducing their gluten intake prior to testing. By doing so, they invalidate the testing because antibodies stop being produced, disappear from the blood and the lining of the small bowel begins to heal. So, then they are stuck in no man's land, wondering if they have celiac disease or NCGS. To resume gluten consumption, i.e., to undertake a "gluten challenge" is out of the question because their reaction to gluten is so strong that it would endanger their health. The lining of the small bowel is the place where all of the nutrition in the food we consume is absorbed. This lining is made up of billions of microscopically tiny fingerlike projections that create a tremendous nutrient absorption surface area. The inflammation caused by celiac disease wears down these fingers and greatly reduces the surface area needed for nutrient absorption. Thus, people with celiac disease often develop iron deficiency anemia and a host of other vitamin and mineral deficiencies. It is likely that many more people who have issues with gluten suffer from NCGS than from celiac disease. We actually know much more about the mechanism of celiac disease than we do about NCGS but some experts believe NCGS can transition into celiac disease.
    • SamAlvi
Thank you for the clarification and for taking the time to explain the terminology so clearly. I really appreciate your insight, especially the distinction between celiac disease and NCGS and how anemia can point more toward celiac. This was very helpful for me.

Hi,  My 7 year daughter has complained of this in the past, which I thought were part of her glutening symptom, but more recently I have come to figure out it's part of her histamine overload symptom. This one symptom was part of her broader profile, which included irritability, extreme hunger, confusion, post-nasal drip. You might want to look up "histamine intolerance". I wish I had known of this at the time of her diagnosis, life would have been much easier.  I hope you are able to figure out.
    • lizzie42
My 5yo was diagnosed with celiac last year by being tested after his sister was diagnosed. We are very strict on the gluten-free diet, but unsure what his reactions are as he was diagnosed without many symptoms other than low ferritin.  He had a school party where his teacher made gluten-free gingerbread men. I almost said no because she made it in her kitchen but I thought it would be ok.  Next day and for a few after his behavior is awful. Hitting, rude, disrespectful. Mainly he kept saying his legs were shaking. Is this a gluten exposure symptom that anyone else gets? Also the bad behavior?
    • trents
Not necessarily. The "Gluten Free" label means not more than 20ppm of gluten in the product which is often not enough for super sensitive celiacs. You would need to be looking for "Certified Gluten Free" (GFCO endorsed) which means no more than 10ppm of gluten. Having said that, "Gluten Free" doesn't mean that there will necessarily be more gluten than "Certified Gluten" in any given batch run. It just means there could be.
