Civkebs are learnin t'fly. The white one leapt out of her box, scampered around the room for a few minutes, then suddenly realized she had no way to get back in to her box. For about a minute she stood there, eying me sideways, then suddenly raced up my knee, hurled herself into the box and raced all the way back into the cat carrier where she could be safe from....? scary tomato plants??. Anyway. Made me laugh.

Sorry. haven't drunk enough to be entertaining, but did have a fab time. We decided that, since banks have insufficient money to make bank robbery profitable right now, we're gonna open a cloning center somewhere on a small, non-governmented island. I'll do the cloning, she'll create a computer network to store the persons' memories so you can be re-established into a new body with the same thoughts (it'll really be you). All we need is someone to figure out how to transfer the memories between the human neural net and the silicon neural net.

Anyone good at this?

Good morning!

Hope all slept well. Thunder kept waking me up all night, lost power a couple of times.

Update on my ducky--she's flown the proverbial coop. Haven't seen hide nor tail feather of her in 2&1/2 days, but there are a couple of broken egg shells about 8 feet from the nest. The nest itself does not appear to have been disturbed at all, so not likely to have been a critter attack. I hope they hatched and headed the half mile to the canal/creek by the main road. We're disappointed that we didn't get to see it, though.

Lots of household chores and shopping to do today, or else we will all be hungry, smelly, dirty, covered in dog and cat hair.

*note to self: quit job, hire maid, become woman of leisure

Mornin everybody! It IS still morning, isn't it? My pholks left this morning for home, by way of another sisters' house in New Jersey. Mom is very worried about an upcoming hip replacement. She had both knees done some time ago.....back when they zipped open the knees and left a huge scar. Hopefully she has a much easier time with this! My parents are in their 80's and are both amazing!

GJshesster!!! I SO hope you phind just what you need! Sometimes we really resist the very changes that we need to have. Sorry that you had to reach such a state to get there. You may find me coming for a permanent visit  )

Hi T--shiny day to you!! :D

My MIL had a hip replacement a few years ago and did really well. She had such severe pain before, and she's not one to complain so we knew it was bad. She had the surgery and follow-up PT. She'll be 90 next month, and continues to do well, with no pain in the area at all.

I hope your mom has just as good of an experience with it--your pholks sound great! :)

Morning Sills :)

bloody hot here <_< Am not happy.

but happy that our NICOLA came through, I sent her a pm for assistance on a thread for a UK cOeliac, and there she was! :)

Tired, Sills. got nowt. Walked the Weez, lots of sweat (me) and panting (the dog). BAH!

PLEASE don't get excited about my "date." It's really nothing, although he has answered the questions I asked very thoughtfully and correctly, via email. Shocking. And, he has NOT sent a deluge of over-eager texts and emails. But, I just don't care.....I never get too worked up over these things any more, it's just sumfin' to do. Plus, I am highly doubting he will smell really yummy. Just a feeling I have.

So - hardly worth talking about as I'm really quite sure this will be the ONLY time we get together.

Don't ask me why - just a hunch. It will be pleasant, but not worth pursuing. This is my prediction.

BTW - in my past - I have known three times, before ever even having one date with those three, that each of those WOULD become a serious relationship......psychic predictions came true.

somehow, I have a sense about these things.

*yawn*

groggy today.....I think it's the heat, sapping my will to live.

Sooooze, I DO wish that I lived next door to you.....I could just pop over and lend you my penii earrings for your date this eve. A very reliable, all-encompassing test for a potential suitor, certainly. Is the bloke comfortable enough about his manhood to be staring at its symbolic representation, hanging and jiggling right in front of him? Hip replacement......FIL had one of those recently.....he's a new man, running even, at 80+ yrs old! :)

Breakfast table flasher........had one of those when the kids were small. Never actually saw anything. he would always be covered with alittle hand towel or what I swear looked like women's beige underwear.

Dance was nice.....not as many people as we had hoped, but there was another dance going on elsewhere in town that night. But moneywise it went pretty good, cuz there were also donations from people who didn't show......dance phobia or summat. We'll be sending it all to Nathan.

Had me private lesson today and may go dancing again tomorrow....it's our usual club night. B)

HARRUMPH!! I have too much important stuff goin on to be bothered with laundry and stuff! <_<

Neither of them were anemic 6 months after the Celiac diagnosis. His other vitamin levels (d, B12) were never low. My daughters levels were normal after the first 6 months. Is the thiamine test just called thiamine?
    • knitty kitty
Yes, I do think they need a Thiamine supplement at least. Especially since they eat red meat only occasionally. Most fruits and vegetables are not good sources of Thiamine.  Legumes (beans) do contain thiamine.  Fruits and veggies do have some of the other B vitamins, but thiamine B 1 and  Cobalamine B12 are mostly found in meats.  Meat, especially organ meats like liver, are the best sources of Thiamine, B12, and the six other B vitamins and important minerals like iron.   Thiamine has antibacterial and antiviral properties.  Thiamine is important to our immune systems.  We need more thiamine when we're physically ill or injured, when we're under stress emotionally, and when we exercise, especially outside in hot weather.  We need thiamine and other B vitamins like Niacin B 3 to keep our gastrointestinal tract healthy.  We can't store thiamine for very long.  We can get low in thiamine within three days.  Symptoms can appear suddenly when a high carbohydrate diet is consumed.  (Rice and beans are high in carbohydrates.)  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so symptoms can wax and wane depending on what one eats.  The earliest symptoms like fatigue and anxiety are easily contributed to other things or life events and dismissed.   Correcting nutritional deficiencies needs to be done quickly, especially in children, so their growth isn't stunted.  Nutritional deficiencies can affect intelligence.  Vitamin D deficiency can cause short stature and poor bone formation.   Is your son taking anything for the anemia?  Is the anemia caused by B12 or iron deficiency?
    • lizzie42
Thank you! That's helpful. My kids eat very little processed food. Tons of fruit, vegetables, cheese, eggs and occasional red meat. We do a lot of rice and bean bowls, stir fry, etc.  Do you think with all the fruits and vegetables they need a vitamin supplement? I feel like their diet is pretty healthy and balanced with very limited processed food. The only processed food they eat regularly is a bowl of Cheerios here and there.  Could shaking legs be a symptom of just a one-time gluten exposure? I guess there's no way to know for sure if they're getting absolutely zero exposure because they do go to school a couple times a week. We do homeschool but my son does a shared school 2x a week and my daughter does a morning Pre-K 3 x a week.  At home our entire house is strictly gluten free and it is extremely rare for us to eat out. If we eat at someone else's house I usually just bring their food. When we have play dates we bring all the snacks, etc. I try to be really careful since they're still growing. They also, of course, catch kids viruses all the time so I  want to make sure I know whether they're just sick or they've had gluten. It can be pretty confusing when they're pretty young to even be explaining their symptoms!
    • Scott Adams
That is interesting, and it's the first time I heard about the umbilical cord beings used for that test. Thanks for sharing!
    • knitty kitty
@lizzie42, You're being a good mom, seeking answers for your son.  Cheers! Subclinical thiamine deficiency commonly occurs with anemia.  An outright Thiamine deficiency can be precipitated by the consumption of a high carbohydrate meal.   Symptoms of Thiamine deficiency include feeling shakey or wobbly in the legs, muscle weakness or cramps, as well as aggression and irritability, confusion, mood swings and behavior changes.  Thiamine is essential to the production of neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine which keep us calm and rational.   @Jsingh, histamine intolerance is also a symptom of Thiamine deficiency.  Thiamine is needed to prevent mast cells from releasing histamine at the slightest provocation as is seen in histamine intolerance.  Thiamine and the other B vitamins and Vitamin C are needed to clear histamine from the body.  Without sufficient thiamine and other B vitamins to clear it, the histamine builds up.  High histamine levels can change behavior, too.  High histamine levels are found in the brains of patients with schizophrenia.  Thiamine deficiency can also cause extreme hunger or conversely anorexia.   High carbohydrate meals can precipitate thiamine deficiency because additional thiamine is required to process carbohydrates for the body to use as fuel.  The more carbohydrates one eats daily, the more one needs additional thiamine above the RDA.  Thiamine is water soluble, safe and nontoxic even in high doses. Keep in mind that gluten-free processed foods like cookies and such are not required to be fortified and enriched with vitamins and minerals like their gluten containing counterparts are.  Limit processed gluten-free foods.  They are often full of empty calories and unhealthy saturated fats and additives, and are high in histamine or histamine release triggers.  It's time you bought your own vitamins to supplement what is not being absorbed due to malabsorption of Celiac disease.  Benfotiamine is a form of Thiamine that has been shown to improve intestinal health as well as brain function. Do talk to your doctors and dieticians about supplementing with the essential vitamins and minerals while your children are growing up gluten free.  Serve nutritionally dense foods.  Meats and liver are great sources of B vitamins and minerals. Hope this helps!  Keep us posted on your progress!
