ARGH! EMOTICONALLY BUSTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, and brass knuckles, too Lil' love tokens ;)

Ahhhh, it's all suddenly making sense now. Slim, struttin' her stuff for the male model. Schwing!

Seeing our fair Emil in a whole new light--the little hora

(that's foot in Russian)

Suze and Jess--sils hangin' wif me hubs on da book. Crackin' this old beeotch up!

yer crackin me up, Mimms :lol:SCHWINGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *snort*

Have barely seen the chickies these last few days. Too busy. Fling some food at them in the morning, and a bit more at night. Turns out that what they like best to eat is...

chicken

cannibals!!!!! <who knew>

Yep . . . that's the way I react to flea bites . . . worse than skeeter bites (I mean mo-skeeter, not me daughter - although she used to be a biter when she was lil')

Headed there on Saturday. Last day of school is Friday. Skeeter (me daughter not a mo-skeeter) has a gymnastics thingy to perform in (read photo-op for parents) on Friday night. I guess I start packing tomorrow. Somebody should do some laundry. Patty?

Sorry 'bout them stones, Em . . . forget the jewelry, perhaps a stone fireplace . . . hope it goes well.

Sven?? . . . well he can kiss my fat a$$

this whole thing cracked me up, Jan-it, and love to see you bringing the silly!!!!! :)

laundry? forget it. your clothes will just get dirty while yer gone anyway.

Have they declared a national emergency??!! T'will be a riot soon, I predicts. Trouble with putting all the power in the hands of de state (see, I learned my lessuns well in the U. S. of A.) The noive of it, in essence the gummint (or their agents) decreeing "Thou shall not drink!!) Had much the same problum in Utah though; felt like a criminal trying to ferret out a six-pack from behind the bars. Couldln't wait to get to Arizonay, but then we ends up in the Navajo Nation and couldn't wait to get to...Durango!

 loved this - - but - is there anywhere that Shroomie hasn't been or lived??? :o

My new favorite phrase for working hard, but getting little ultimate benefit.

*snackle*

hangin' on fer dear life and scratchin' like Psuessle! Oh! Yer not down to eating cat-food, are you? Are there any gluten-free brands?

Psuess....my vote is not for flea-bites. I've only ever seen tiny red dots as flea bites. Could be something else....whatever it is I hope it goes away and you don't get any more!!! Watch for the "bulls-eye" look to those! Some spider bites can be pserious!

I did eat Purina Stars with my Lucy Baines as a little girl  but no, not lately.

OMG - NO new bites to report after - get this - changing me sheets last night!!!!!! Had only had them on there for four days or so, but that is when the bites began

methinks there woz an angry spider in me bed

We have HUGE, fuzzy bumble bees around here. There is one (the very same one each year, I am certain) who is quite taken with me. Every now and then when I am outside in the back, he will come lazily by, buzzing as loudly as a lawn mower (he is the size of a small bird, truly), and circle around me for a while. He has often landed on the ground near where I am digging, or on the arm of my chair whilst I sit wif me tea. Quietly regarding me, I assume.

This weekend Jack and I were walking to the store, and suddenly there he was, buzzing around my head.

"Mom! It's your bee!" The Ripper exclaimed. "This is getting a little ridiculous".... .

What does this mean? What does it want from me?

 M's B!!!!!!!!!!!!! <took me a couple seconds to get that one, Gnikk>

what DOEZ it mean????

Ok, Patti, answering the door to firemen with wet hair, with a towel wrapped around her

She is cooler than you know

SHE IZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Padtea the SIRENE!!!!!!! (pro-nun-see-ay-shun from "O Brother Where Art Thou")

My student is taking a class from a guy we are collaborating with (so I know him). Yesterday he announced in class that he's just been diagnosed with celiac disease.

I sent him a link to the forum.

Don't tell him who I am.

VERY EXCITING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and yes, worlds colliding *snigger*

OMG Sills - was NINETY-NINE here yesterday, will be about the same today.

am working from home (sort of) and just walked the dog, now must mow lawn and bathe the dog and then - gasp - go to gym later.

pondering carpet shampoo.....takes a few days to get ready for this idea <_<

Emmel, how's your dad?

I meant to comment on yer bite situation, Suz....they do sound more like spider than phlee. In my experience, phlee bites are more like tiny red spots that itch like crazy.

Any kind of insect bite creeps me out

Emmel, how's your dad?

Sigh. . . ..... . ..

Well, his surgery was cancelled this afternoon. There is a piece of medical equipment that he needs at the ready, something that helps with breathing, I believe, and there was not one available this aft ( ), so it's been put off . .. .....

Hopefully just for a day or two . .. . .....

Oh Em....I'm sure he just wants it to be over with already. Gosh, yer poor dad has been through so much lately. Glad they're being safe, though, and not proceeding until all the bases are covered.

Hope they won't keep him waiting much longer.

Oh! Yer not down to eating cat-food, are you? :

Not quite. Anyways, wouldn't want to have to fight Miss Em for it; she has BIIIG claws! and she guards it jealously..

... .

Shroomie! Were you simply no good at life drawing, or did things that you were trying to render keep... . ......changing?... . . . ......

Dear gawd, we have these little horrific things in Northern Ontario - - tiny little black flies, millions and millions of them, getting in yer eyes, ears, hair, driving the most stalwart of explorers and workers to insanity... . . . . . ..

Have nae experienced this torture, just heard the graphic legends.

Let's just say that I could nae have done the lady justice!!

Aye the sandflies is the stuff of legends here too!. We have a world-famous walk (wot, you haven't heard of the Milford Track?), three days of sandfly torture through some of the most gorgeous scenery you will ever hope to see. All the guestbooks in all the huts are filled with notations about, not the scenery but the sandflies. And just to add to the punishment, when you get to the end of the walk you have to wait at Sandfly Point!! for the launch to come and pick you up. But maybe I did not smell sweet nuff for them :o (certainly not after three days!! anyway) and escaped this horror unscathed :P

So you have big bumblebees too!! Ours have these huge yellow stripes. and are so fuzzy. In CA the bumblebees are so puny and colourless (but I bet they're bigga in Texa$$ PadT!!) Have nevah known anyone have a bumblebee friend though  Unfortunately, I used to step on them a lot wif bare feet as a kid

I was in the shower when it started, they came to my door as I was getting out :....

wrapped a towel around me 'ead and let 'em in. B)

They were only in here a minute,

WOT??? You couldn't keep 'em interested any longer than that???? Or they was fast workers!

So far I haven't been able to book a spot on the space shuttle :(

Yes, methinks definitely a spider. Fleas itch waaay to much, you can tell.

We will have to drive through (but not down) that ninety-nine shortly, thru Sacto with the air con blasting!! Hehe. We don't have to live it in but we do get the joys of it in Reno for Whole Foods shopping,

Barb comes today. I was going to cook her some venison and then found out she is mostly veggie except chicken and fish. Her ex was a hunter and shot animals for sport... Gotta get movin and get over the hill and shop for the long (Rachel's birthday) weekend. Wot to have for dinner? Veggie lasagna?? No to much work by the time I get home.

Later psills.

Goooood Morning, Psillies!

As I lay abed last night, I suddenly realized, and made an arrested move to leap outta bed to come post here, that I did NOT divulge some absolutely crucial, epiphanic information to ya'll yesterday.

Early this spring, I named my bumblebee.

His name is Lloyd.

'With great size and voice'.

'Tis quite fitting, and he really looks like a Lloyd. Interesting, as I don't believe I have ever seen a person who seems to look like a Lloyd, and of course, this is why: It looks like a bee.

These were not Bevvie-caliber phirephiters, I tell ya! One was grizzled and older, and the other real young. Not just young--real young. Too young, if you get my drift..... ;) Coulda been his grandson, er sumphin.

So, it was in and out quick, leaving me to tend to me own towel.. :P

 Lloyd  Somehow the perfect name fer a bee....

Raising you vitamin D will increase absorption of calcium automatically without supplementation of calcium.  A high PTH can be caused by low D causing poor calcium absorption; not insuffient calcium intake.  With low D your body is not absorbing calcium from your food so it steals it from your bones.  Heart has priority over bone. I've been taking 10,000 IU D3 a day since 2015.  My doctor says to continue. To fix my lactose intolerance, lots of lactobacillus from yogurts, and brine fermented pickles and saurkraut and olives.  We lose much of our ability to make lactase endogenosly with maturity but a healthy colony of lactobacillus in our gut excretes lactase in exchange for room and board. The milk protein in grass fed milk does not bother me. It tastes like the milk I grew up on.  If I drink commercial milk I get heartburn at night. Some experts estimate that 90% of us do not eat Adequite Intake of choline.  Beef and eggs are the principle source. Iodine deficiency is a growing concern.  I take 600 mcg a day of Liquid Iodine.  It and NAC have accelerated my healing all over.  Virtually blind in my right eye after starting antihypertensive medication and vision is slowly coming back.  I had to cut out starches because they drove my glucose up into the 200+ range.  I replaced them with Red Bull for the glucose intake with the vitamins, minerals and Taurine needed to process through the mitochodria Krebs Cycle to create ATP.  Went from A1c 13 down to 7.9.  Work in progress. Also take B1,B2,B3,B5,B6. Liquid Iodine, Phosphatidyl Choline, Q10, Selenium, D and DHEA.     Choline supplemented as phosphatidylcholine decreases fasting and postmethionine-loading plasma homocysteine concentrations in healthy men +

@catnapt, Wheat germ has very little gluten in it.  Gluten is  the carbohydrate storage protein, what the flour is made from, the fluffy part.  Just like with beans, there's the baby plant that will germinate  ("germ"-inate) if sprouted, and the bean part is the carbohydrate storage protein.   Wheat germ is the baby plant inside a kernel of wheat, and bran is the protective covering of the kernel.   Little to no gluten there.   Large amounts of lectins are in wheat germ and can cause digestive upsets, but not enough Gluten to provoke antibody production in the small intestines. Luckily you still have time to do a proper gluten challenge (10 grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks) before your next appointment when you can be retested.

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind
