I wonder what the speed limit is on that roadway? Long and winding, or direct? Any detours?

I would hope it is well-groomed and maintained.

Quite right, both of you. I has been thru Fresno (but did not stop) but don't remember if 99 goes thru Clovis. If it does, I definitely did not stop. Was on my way to Springville and got lost in the orange groves trying to avoid going thru Porterville. I kept easting and southing, and phinally phound my way. If I hadda known that Soozle was in Clovis I would even have detoured, provided she had some mojitos waiting when I got there :D :D :D

We figure we'll be around Acadia National Park somewhere . . . I'm having a hard time navigating my atlas. There's a bazillion towns along the coast . . . all with populations under 1000 and everyone of them gets a dot. . . . I bought reading glasses . . .

great idea!

We did go to Acadia and it was WONDERFUL but I wasn't gluten-free at the time.

sorry. try to get to pass through Wells Maine.

DaY 1 of 7 week school holiday

..have to take DC to get his fixed brace Wed, then the day after he has an interview at a college (for a part time course in Catering)

SO, I'm thinking

1) He won't be able to talk coherently at his interview due to the brace

2) I should really consider getting him RE-tested for celiac disease before he embarks on a career in the food industry

Trans-Canada, Trans-Vaginal - - same inflection, same number of syllables, same intonation... . . ....an easy, almost expected slip, wouldn't everyone say?<_<

Bah! Those college interviewers have to be completely accustomed to this, Nik.... .....methinks ALL teenagers talk sparingly, and in muffled, monosyllabic grunts -- should be nuthin' new..... . . ..

I heard me name being called and found me psilly at the same time- it's SERENDIPITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Methinks that life would be much more fun if we were all hammered  (especially baby showers- all that OOH AHH.......blech!)

I missed my silly and MY PSILLIES!

Leesargh's got her psilly back- yes. Em, what WAS your MIL doing whilst you were away  ? On the TVH? (trans-va jay jay highway) Or......having too much phun by herself  She found what you had hidden in yer bedside table and tried to insert it in the mattress?

Gianknit- Cannot believe you had a convict story! Glad you are safe. YES! Gianknit's coming to Maine...so many ideas for you! It's so beautiful.......how long will you have. I'll email you but there are so many great places- must see Acadia National Park (Bar harbor is a wonderphul town too). You could easily spend a week there and still have more left to do (hiking, biking, swimming, going out on a boat or whale watch). Or you could do a coastal trip and hot Bar Harbor, the Camden area and Boothbay.

There is a gluten-free bakery in Wells- the woman who runs it made my wedding cake before I was gluten-free! Her name is Traci Anello but the Maine coast is big so you'd want to be mid-Maine which would be like Portland, LL Bean, Ogunquit. Shoot me an email and I can blather on.

:lol::lol: Well, c'mon, it's not like we're talkin' about an Masters in English er sumphin'. .. . . . ...

This is excellent, Jyess! You smarty-sciency-numbers-yuckystuff-pants, you! ;):D

All right, I must recount to you all what transpired a couple of nights ago, the evening before MIL flew home. We were at the B and SIL's place for dinner, with in-laws literally everywhere.....

Thank you for the clarification and for taking the time to explain the terminology so clearly. I really appreciate your insight, especially the distinction between celiac disease and NCGS and how anemia can point more toward celiac. This was very helpful for me.

Hi,  My 7 year daughter has complained of this in the past, which I thought were part of her glutening symptom, but more recently I have come to figure out it's part of her histamine overload symptom. This one symptom was part of her broader profile, which included irritability, extreme hunger, confusion, post-nasal drip. You might want to look up "histamine intolerance". I wish I had known of this at the time of her diagnosis, life would have been much easier.  I hope you are able to figure out.

My 5yo was diagnosed with celiac last year by being tested after his sister was diagnosed. We are very strict on the gluten-free diet, but unsure what his reactions are as he was diagnosed without many symptoms other than low ferritin.  He had a school party where his teacher made gluten-free gingerbread men. I almost said no because she made it in her kitchen but I thought it would be ok.  Next day and for a few after his behavior is awful. Hitting, rude, disrespectful. Mainly he kept saying his legs were shaking. Is this a gluten exposure symptom that anyone else gets? Also the bad behavior?
    • trents
Not necessarily. The "Gluten Free" label means not more than 20ppm of gluten in the product which is often not enough for super sensitive celiacs. You would need to be looking for "Certified Gluten Free" (GFCO endorsed) which means no more than 10ppm of gluten. Having said that, "Gluten Free" doesn't mean that there will necessarily be more gluten than "Certified Gluten" in any given batch run. It just means there could be.
    • trents
I think it is wise to seek a second opinion from a GI doc and to go on a gluten free diet in the meantime. The GI doc may look at all the evidence, including the biopsy report, and conclude you don't need anything else to reach a dx of celiac disease and so, there would be no need for a gluten challenge. But if the GI doc does want to do more testing, you can worry about the gluten challenge at that time. But between now and the time of the appointment, if your symptoms improve on a gluten free diet, that is more evidence. Just keep in mind that if a gluten challenge is called for, the bare minimum challenge length is two weeks of the daily consumption of at least 10g of gluten, which is about the amount found in 4-6 slices of wheat bread. But, I would count on giving it four weeks to be sure.
