Happy Birthday Amanda!!!

Glad it all went well Judy!

My wrap up- chickens are happy. no signs of another break in (or out  ) Max's still sick. No idea what's causing it. Have spent the morning at the vet's every day. I'm tired of this, I told them I'd go by how he's acting and not bring him in again till Friday if all seems the same. Currently waiting for him to poop ( I have a constipated cat). Adding psyllium to his food (and Lefty's, by default. Lefty has...produced...we'll just leave it at that...)

Have to catch up on studying.

Jess, for a constipated cat, try adding mineral oil to the food. One of our cats has chronic problems in this area, so we give her mineral oil on a daily basis.

Jestgar Rising Star

Thanks Peter. I got some tuna in oil to start with. Max is still really really picky about what he's eating so I'm reluctant to do anything that might change the flavor too much. He even knows when the psyllium has been sprinkled in. I tried the pumpkin, but neither of them will eat it. I, however, have discovered that it does have plenty of fibre.:unsure::huh:

Ya got yer hands full for sure, Jess. Hope Max feels better soon :)

too tired to count all the change but there is alot of it esp. quarters.

listing the house this Thurs.

Judy

Excellent profits, Judy! I hope I do half as well with mine next month. :)

And Llama lady was here, too? Wow, I've been remiss :( <hangs head in shame>

Jess, good luck with your wee Max. I had a cat named Snowy who had "Mega-colon" and the tummy issues were AWFUL :( I secretly called him 'Sucky Butt' because at it's worst his bottom would make a sucking sound every time the poor guy took a step. He would lie on his back while his tummy actually rolled  He was a lover, it was so sad.

Miss you all. Trying to catch up.

Have a great day!!!!

Morning Sillies!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. We are getting together with my college friends, Amanda and Steve and Steve's wife Jamie. Even though we all live close. We are in Harrisburg and those 3 live in the York area, due to our jobs and schedules we don't get to meet up all that often. So our plans are mini-golfing and dinner. It is supposed to be very hot and humid today- even so I am still excited. Our gatherings are always fun.

Update from the fair- My Peanut Butter fudge took 4th place, out of 40 other fudge entries. Sadly, my cake and cupcake did not place but thats ok-it was my first time entering the baking contests and I am going to enter again next year.

My oil painting took 3rd place and my calligraphy took 2nd. I am not sure about any of my photographs, since the judging was over but the pictures were not up for viewing. There were stacks of about 400 entries sitting on the floor being sorted...I didnt have time to wait.

We took silvia to the fair- it was her first time. She loved it. Sadly, she was too small to ride a few things. Even accompanied by me they would not allow her on the big slide. She is 2 1/2. I saw younger kids riding. Like a good aunite- I boarded the train and jallopy cars with her so she could ride... I took her on the lollipop swings too which was nice. The seats are made for two so parents can ride. It was nice. We looked at the animals and other things.

All that running between scranton and home on thursday and friday took it toll. We came back to our house by midnight on Friday. Yesterday I was worn out!

How are all my sillies today? I would love to stay but it is storming already and I want to unplug the computer. BYe till later :)

Yep had a nasty storm at 10am this morning- which I was glad now that the sun is out so we can still play the round of mini-golf.

John allowed me to go buy what I wanted for my bday gift. The thing I wanted was some new clothes. So I figured I would stop by Tarjay and get some in-style things...so when did Tarjay get so phlippin pricey? Dresses for 36-50 bucks...yikes! shirts for 25....even tanks were 19. So I bummed and left.

Stopped at Kohls...walked out of there with 6 new tops for 56 bucks. Everything was buy one get one :):):) Beat that Tarjay!!!!

GAAAHHHH!!!!

Air conditioner is definitely on the fritz

78 degrees so far :o

Mornin', Peeps!

OMG.....last night Will and I drove up to McDonalds for an ice cream - -Sophie was working through the dinner shift, and we wanted to get in her line and embarrass her.

We drove in and I said, "Hey! I think that's Soph at the drive-through window!"

Perfect.

We drove up to the menu order/microphone thingy, and sure enough, there is Sophie's li'l voice........"Good evening.... ..... .can I help you?"

In a thick, almost indiscernable Celtic/Scottish brogue, DH says, "I'll have me an extra large sooondae witha booonch a' sauce o'ertop".

There is silence. Then Sophie says, "Um.... ...sir, there is only one size of sundae......and which type of sauce would you like, chocolate, strawberry or caramel?"

DH: (angry, more heavily-accented voice): "I need a LARGE soooondae! The biggest one ya can put through yer winda there! And I need ALL THREE sauces, swirled aroooound in a spec-TAC-ular coooolinary display!"

We can hear other girls' muffled laughter in the background.

More silence. Then, "DAD??"

:lol::lol:

So fun. This is about as exciting as it gets in my family life.

Poor Max.....so uncomfortable. :(

We got our new TX driver's licenses in the mail on Saturday.....oye, I literally look like a convict :o The woman at the DMV was mean--she yelled at me about standing in the correct place for the pic to be taken, and then I swear she snapped the pic before I smiled.

Plus, my PA license actually had the rare good pic of me so this is especially heinous <_< In Kohl's yesterday, I had to show the cashier my license since I hadn't used my card there in a long time, and I apologized when I handed it to her--we had a laugh over it

In-law news . . . ......Gawd, likely an undiagnosed celiac with all the pertinent neurological issues making her a crabby b!tch. Patteigh, next time you need to quietly approach her and say, "Just a friendly suggestion......your abominable social skills may be caused by an autoimmune reaction to the protein found in wheat, barley and rye".

I have told Sophie to say that to any rude customer she finds in her line at McD's.

In Kohl's yesterday, I had to show the cashier my license since I hadn't used my card there in a long time, and I apologized when I handed it to her--we had a laugh over it

Sillies- the worst has happened....

The birthday dinner from hell---we enjoyed mini-golfing although I had a incident where I sat on a rope which didnt seem to support me and I fell to the ground....

We then went to dinner where I had a salad...nothing seemed to be wrong with it. On our way home- we saw friends 30 minutes from where we lived....I got sick....so sick that there was no where to go....and I had an accident...sillies I was crying on my birthday--such a terrible terrible feeling...

This is the 3rd birthday I have gotten ill- 1 was pre-celiac which now I know why I was sick, 2nd was that time my coworkers and I went to Issacs and got food poisioning and now there was last night....

I think that the lesson is no more birthday dinners :):):)

My coworker made me gluten-free cream cheese cupcakes with chocolate on top :):):)

Testing can't alone be trusted.  Else why would it take so many years of testing and retesting and misdiagnosis to finally be told, yes you have Celiac Disease. As to what to eat, I like pre 1950 style food.  Before the advent of TV dinners.  Fresh food is better for you, and cooking from scratch is cheaper.  Watch Rachel Ray's 30 Minute Meals for how to cook.  Keep in mind that she is not gluten free, but her techniques are awesome.  Just use something else instead of wheat, barley, rye. Dr Fuhrman is a ex cardiologist.  His book Eat to Live and Dr Davis' book Wheatbelly were instrumental in my survival.

If you have DH you will likely also want to avoid iodine, which is common in seafoods and dairy products, as it can exacerbate symptoms in some people. This article may also be helpful as it offers various ways to relieve the itch--thanks for the tip about Dupixent, and I've added it to the article:

I just want to clarify that what I posted is a category of research summaries we've done over the years, and nearly each one shows that there is definitely a connection to celiac disease and migraine headaches. The latest study said: "the study did indicate some potential causal associations between celiac disease and migraine with or without aura, as well as between migraine without aura and ulcerative colitis...this study did not find evidence of a shared genetic basis..." Anyway, there is definitely a connection, and you can go through more of the articles here if you're interested: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/celiac-disease-amp-related-diseases-and-disorders/migraine-headaches-and-celiac-disease/

Two months ago, I started taking Dupixent for dermatitis herpetiformis and it has completely cleared it up. I can't believe it! I have had a terrible painful, intensely itchy rash for over a year despite going fully gluten-free. See if your doctor will prescribe Dupixent. It can be expensive but I am getting it free. When the dermatitis herpetiformis was bad I could not do anything. I just lay in bed covered in ice packs to ease the pain/itching and using way too Clobetasol. Dapsone is also very good for dermatitis herpetiformis (and it is generic). It helped me and the results were immediate but it gave me severe anemia so the Dupixent is better for me. Not sure if it works for everyone. I cannot help with the cause of your stress but from experience I am sure the severe stress is making the celiac and dermatitis herpetiformis worse. Very difficult for you with having children to care for and you being so sick. Would this man be willing to see a family therapist with you? He may be angry at you or imagine that your illness is a psychosomatic excuse not to take care of him. A therapist might help even if he won't go with you. Also do you have any family that you could move in with (with the kids) for a short time to get away? A break may be good for you both.

@tiffanygosci, Thiamine deficiency is a thing in pregnancy for "normal" people, so it's exponentially more important for those with celiac disease and malabsorption issues. I studied nutrition before earning a degree in Microbiology because I was curious what the vitamins were doing inside the body.  See my blog.  Click on my name to go to my page, scroll to drop down menu "activities" and select blog.   So glad you're motivated to see the dietician!  We're always happy to help with questions.  Keep us posted on your progress!
