Hello sils . . .

A late Merry Christmas and Happy Birfday to Joodee and Jack.

We just got back tonight. Drive out to Virginia was fine and dandy. Drive back tonight was a bit rougher. Roads started getting bad about 100 miles from home. Took us three hours for something that should have taken 1 1/2. Saw a pretty bad accident and loads of slide offs along the way. Glad to be home.

The visit at me BIL's was great. Lots of snow and we brought sleds. Had a bonfire on Christmas eve. Drank too much wine. Didn't really overeat as I'm still having lots of dental issues (did I tell you that before? . . . can't remember.) Didn't log onto the computer once.

Jess, loved yer poem.

Just wanted to say how thankful I am for all of youse . . .

Off to bed now . . . and sleeping until noon tomorrow . . . I wish

Glad yer home safe, Jan-it. Get thee some rest :D

Good Morning, Psills!

Welcome back, Jyagh-nutt! :) I kept thinking about you during all that wicked weather that pounded the northern States. Happy to hear that you are home safely. Oddly enough, we got absolutely nuttin' of that massive, nasty storm system up here. Crap, even western Europe got hit with it! But none for Canada - - go figger. It has been raining here the last two days... ....... . ..lookin' rather sad out there. At least I do NOT have to shovel any of this stuff.... . ... <_<

Tooth problems? No, no previous mention of this.. . ...do spill. . ......

Tooth problems? No, no previous mention of this.. . ...do spill. . ......

Been having problems since before Thanksgiving . . . all my teeth hurt but mostly my molars . . . even where my wisdom teeth were gets achy sometimes. One of the worse locations is the tooth that had a root canal. Dentist thought it was stress (clenching and grinding). I'm wearing a mouth guard at night but it didn't/doesn't help. Next Dentist said I have a macular sinus infection and put me on an anitbiotic. Still not helping and antibiotic is all gone. I go back tomorrow.

Well, not only do I have a sh!tload of unpacking to do, it is now time to take all the stuff out of the bags that we quarantined for delousing purposes. So you guys should see me a lot today cuz I don't want to do any of that.

Missin' JoDog . . . I don't pick her up until 4:00pm. BIL has two pugs. One is diabetic and blind and a bit grumpy. Everytime I tried to pet him, he walked away or growled. Skeeter could practically lay on him and totally pester him and he just lapped it up  She's so good with animals. I keep telling her she should be a vet. She says they (vets not pets) do too many yucky things.

jerseyangel Proficient
I go back tomorrow.

I wonder if it could be TMJ dysfunction? I was diagnosed with it several years ago (by an Ear Nose and Throat doctor)--it does cause my teeth to hurt--especially the top ones. It waxes and wanes--going from no symptoms at all to feeling like a toothache. Anywho, hope you get to the bottom of it :)

Yeah . . . I've mentioned TMJ to him. I think he thinks I'm not in enough pain for that. We'll see what he says tomorrow. I would kind of like to get some sort of jaw x-ray. It's been long enough now that I'm starting to get worried that something is seriously wrong . . . I really don't thing there is, but the mind does wander . . . I'm a hypochondriac at heart :P

Gianknit- In pain, missing JoDog. Poopy Cow! I was thinking TMJ too. How much pain do you have to be in fer cripes sake? Kurt actually had to have his jaw electro-shocked open from TMJ (not as bad as it sounds- didn't hurt just electrodes attached to his jaw.

The ENT doc that diagnosed me did it really simply. There's a spot on the top of yer head near the crown that if you press on it, if you have TMJ you literally can't open your jaw. It was weird. I'm sorry you're in so much pain. I hope they figure it out FAST!

Actually, I know that at one time we have spoken about the male model on the cover of the Sauna Pants package...... . . ...but Jyaghnutt, I'm just looking closely at his face, and he looks very like someone who is a true professional, smiling his way through some pain....methinks perhaps TMJ. What are the odds?

Either that, or it is the pain of utter humiliation, brought on by being posed and professionally photographed in those pants.......

We were invited to a friends house Boxing Day eve... had great phun playing wii (more eating & drinking)..... perhaps a tad too much drinking

Felt ok in the morn, but as the day went on felt more and more nauseous......was quite sick by the evening

Nearly DIED during an hour of cardio... and also felt sick again, which wasn't helped by the man next to me tripping over during the class and breaking his ankle (I swear I heard it snap :o ..poor bloke carried off in an ambulance!)...

Hello, @Jordan Carlson, So glad you're feeling better.   Tecta is a proton pump inhibitor.  PPI's also interfere with the production of the intrinsic factor needed to absorb Vitamin B12.  Increasing the amount of B12 you supplement has helped overcome the lack of intrinsic factor needed to absorb B12. Proton pump inhibitors also reduce the production of digestive juices (stomach acids).  This results in foods not being digested thoroughly.  If foods are not digested sufficiently, the vitamins and other nutrients aren't released from the food, and the body cannot absorb them.  This sets up a vicious cycle. Acid reflux and Gerd are actually symptoms of producing too little stomach acid.  Insufficient stomach acid production is seen with Thiamine and Niacin deficiencies.  PPI's like Tecta also block the transporters that pull Thiamine into cells, preventing absorption of thiamine.  Other symptoms of Thiamine deficiency are difficulty swallowing, gagging, problems with food texture, dysphagia. Other symptoms of Thiamine deficiency are symptoms of ADHD and anxiety.  Vyvanse also blocks thiamine transporters contributing further to Thiamine deficiency.  Pristiq has been shown to work better if thiamine is supplemented at the same time because thiamine is needed to make serotonin.  Doctors don't recognize anxiety and depression and adult onset ADHD as early symptoms of Thiamine deficiency. Stomach acid is needed to digest Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) in fruits and vegetables.  Ascorbic acid left undigested can cause intestinal upsets, anxiety, and heart palpitations.   Yes, a child can be born with nutritional deficiencies if the parents were deficient.  Parents who are thiamine deficient have offspring with fewer thiamine transporters on cell surfaces, making thiamine deficiency easier to develop in the children.  A person can struggle along for years with subclinical vitamin deficiencies.  Been here, done this.  Please consider supplementing with Thiamine in the form TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) which helps immensely with dysphagia and neurological symptoms like anxiety, depression, and ADHD symptoms.  Benfotiamine helps with improving intestinal health.  A B Complex and NeuroMag (a magnesium supplement), and Vitamin D are needed also.

@pothosqueen, Welcome to the tribe! You'll want to get checked for nutritional deficiencies and start on supplementation of B vitamins, especially Thiamine Vitamin B 1.   There's some scientific evidence that the fat pad that buffers the aorta which disappears in SMA is caused by deficiency in Thiamine.   In Thiamine deficiency, the body burns its stored fat as a source of fuel.  That fat pad between the aorta and digestive system gets used as fuel, too. Ask for an Erythrocyte Transketolace Activity test to look for thiamine deficiency.  Correction of thiamine deficiency can help restore that fat pad.   Best wishes for your recovery!   Interesting Reading: Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome in a 6-Year-Old Girl with Final Diagnosis of Celiac Disease https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31089433/#:~:text=Affiliations,tissue and results in SMAS.
    • trents
Wow! You're pretty young to have a diagnosis of SMA syndrome. But youth also has its advantages when it comes to healing, without a doubt. You might be surprised to find out how your health improves and how much better you feel once you eliminate gluten from your diet. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder that, when gluten is consumed, triggers an attack on the villous lining of the small bowel. This is the section of the intestines where all our nutrition is absorbed. It is made up of billions of tiny finger-like projections that create a tremendous surface area for absorbing nutrients. For the person with celiac disease, unchecked gluten consumption generates inflammation that wears down these fingers and, over time, greatly reduces the nutrient absorbing efficiency of the small bowel lining. This can generate a whole host of other nutrient deficiency related medical problems. We also now know that the autoimmune reaction to gluten is not necessarily limited to the lining of the small bowel such that celiac disease can damage other body systems and organs such as the liver and the joints and cause neurological problems.  It can take around two years for the villous lining to completely heal but most people start feeling better well before then. It's also important to realize that celiac disease can cause intolerance to some other foods whose protein structures are similar to gluten. Chief among them are dairy and oats but also eggs, corn and soy. Just keep that in mind.

I was just diagnosed at 26 after accidental finding. Any simple tips for newbies? Things a non celiac would never think of? I already went through my prescriptions and identified some medications that have gluten. Is there a beginners guide? Celiac for dummies?
