With all the rain you've had, I'd be thinking that your parking lot would be squeaky clean, POeter!
Well, the rain and warm weather melted all the snowbanks, revealing the, um, stuff, that had been hiding all winter.

Jack is really looking forward to may 10th, when Robert S. comes to town. . . .......:)B)

I hope the venue is better this time and he actually gets a chance to meet Rob.

Hello me Psilly Friends- I have been MIA too long but missing me psillls. Still slowly recovering from stomach phlugue. My tummy's getting better but I am so flipping tired. Do youse guys find that it takes you longer to recover from stomach stuff now that you have celiac? I'm starting to worry.

I have been following along on me gmail and must say Geoss's pre-inebriation poem was very touching!

Gianknit- I hope your doc can get to the bottom of Skeeter's problems. Poor thing. That doesn't sound very fun. I had a year in college (this is a weird story) where I threw up every day after I ate. I went to the doctor and he accused me of being sub-consciously bulimic (uhm, how would that be possible?).

I fired him, my new doc scoped me and it turned out it was a combo of GERD and anxiety. It was very strange. Any possibility she has panic attacks? I get nauseous when anxious now but never throw up. It was just that year.

Nickers- HAPPY BELATED MAMMA'S DAY!!!!!!!!!

Would it be inappropriate to call you a SEXY MAMA? Eat those chocolates- they sound gooooodddd!

But we're proud of you and you should be proud of yerself (and take a hot bath and some Motrin)!!

Came home to no power last night. Discovered the true downside to making everything you eat -- my choices for dinner were, cold cioppino, or, nothing.....

Drove to the next town to get glutino pretzels, having been inspired by a different thread and got to see the awesome site of driving over the bridge onto a completely dark island, kinda like what original settlers might have seen, y'know, without the car and the bridge, and the half-eaten bag of pretzels next to them...

Had pretzels and salsa by candlelight, a glass of wine, and went to bed.

Mmmmmmmm . . . salsa . . . so just how many lessons do you need before you know how to make good salsa??

Evidently quite a lot :P

There's 3 levels of beginner classes, 4 classes each, then I don't know how many in intermediate.....I think that's when you get to add the peppers to it ;) Advanced is when it really gets HOT !!!!! :D

Alone???? Salsa is no fun alone.

Tis quiet here. My store is quiet this week because of March break.

We're gonna make lasagna for dinner and then watch the long-awaited return of Flashforward. It's on for two hours starting at eight Eastern and Pacific; seven Central. I guess nobody in the Mountain time zone has a TV, cuz they never give a time for them. Maybe Julie knows something...

Darn210 Enthusiast

You know, we're averaging three posts a day or sumptin . . . is Emily on vacation??? We have not heard from her in several days. When is Jess' final??? It's taking her away from us. I don't think we should allow her to take anymore classes!!! . . . and how much longer is Patti's son gonna be laid up with the man-flughe-hand-surgery??? Plus Karrin??, what happened to Care-in??

I feel like I'm talking to meselph . . . I already do that enough off-line . . . don't need to do it on-line, too.

Plus my good friend is skiing in Utah this week . . . I'm lonely . . . :( . . . hold me

Just stopping by--big (((hug))) fer Jan-it :D

So much going on here lately, I'm mentally exhausted and just not spending a lot of time on-line. Nothing to do with Matt--he's great and I'm actually so happy to have him here right now. He's going home on Sunday, Dr's appt on Monday morning to remove stitches, etc.

Hope all is well wif everybody and that we've all just hit a busy stint all at once. :)

I am finalized. And wiped out. My boss that I complain about came in to the lab, saw my study materials spread out on my desk, said " oh.... you're....." I said, my final's today." He said " I won't bother you then, let's meet tomorrow." and left.

He really is a nice guy.

Holy crap!! Where in hell have I been??

I must take a moment to pass on an incredible secret: a sure-fire, effective method for finding any small thing that you have dropped on the floor - - hardwood, tile, carpeting - - and lost sight of.. .. . .. . . ..a nail, paper clip, barrette, etc. This was divulged to me by Jack, the kid who is full of these amazing little things. He came upon me a few days ago, angrily swearing as I tried to find a small button that had fallen off my cuff as I was undoing my sleeve to do the dishes. "Mom! Mom! it's so easy to find somethin' like this! You just lie down on your back on the floor, then move around, wiggling your whole body slowly all over the place.. . . .and you'll suddenly feel it!"

Mygawd. I lay down on the hardwood, moved my body around... . . . ......and I suddenly felt the button. Under my shoulder, as I swept in a big arc. 'Twas quite astonishing.

What a revolutionary secret!

:rolleyes:B)

Jack's observations are quite ingenious....I'd like to add that in the case of small, sharp objects--I tend to phind them as soon as I walk through said rooms barephoot :P

Jess, glad it's over and yer boss was so cool about it :)

Sorry 'bout yer final--you sure it's as bad as you think??

How sad is it that for my undergrad pre-med I was going to major in mathmatics (cuz everyone else was majoring in biology  ) and my favorite subject was......calculus (physics was a strong 2nd). But I'm proud to be a nerd! :P

Tis true!! I had some sort of advanced math analysis class. It was only offered once a day and only 10 of us were crazy enough to take it! I was also not a big fan of geometry-theorems, postulates, axioms, arrrrrgh  I don't want assumed answers, I want a solid equation, solid answer. (I also LURVE stoichiometry, I still use it daily, and sometimes for phun  )

Look on the bright side, this still means that you're about a thousand times smarter than me :D

Calculus!!! Onward and upward! B)

I don't want assumed answers, I want a solid equation, solid answer.

This was my problem with programming - too many options. I kept asking for the right answer, and kept getting responses like "well, this way works...." or "if you started this way, then you should do this, but if you started this other way instead then...." Ummm, which way should I have started? "well it depends......"

All the solid answer/understanding concept questions I completely aced, all the coding questions I totally bombed. Too many possibilities.

@Scott Adams That's actually exactly what I ended up asking for— vodka tonic with Titos.  I saw on their website that Tito's is certified gluten-free (maybe many of the clear vodkas are, I don't know, I just happened to look up Tito's in advance). I should have actually specified the 'splash' though, because I think with the amount of tonic she put in there, it did still end up fairly sweet.  Anyway, I think I've almost got this drink order down!

Be interesting to see the effects of dairy reintroduction with gluten. As well as milk protein sensitivity in and of itself the casein part particularly has been shown to mimic gluten in about 50% of celiacs. Keep us posted!
    • deanna1ynne
She has been dairy free for six years, so she’d already been dairy free for two years at her last testing and was dairy free for the entire gluten challenge this year as well (that had positive results). However, now that we’re doing another biopsy in six weeks, we decided to do everything we can to try to “see” the effects, so we decided this past week to add back in dairy temporarily for breakfast (milk and cereal combo like you said).

Hi Christiana, Many thanks for your response.  Interestingly, I too cannot eat wheat in France without feeling effects (much less than in the US, but won't indulge nonetheless).  I also understand children are screened for celiac in Italy prior to starting their education. Wise idea as it seems my grandson has the beginning symptoms (several celiacs in his dad's family), but parents continue to think he's just being difficult.  Argh.  There's a test I took that diagnosed gluten sensitivity in 2014 via Entero Labs, and am planning on having done again.  Truth be told, I'm hoping it's the bromine/additives/preservatives as I miss breads and pastas terribly when home here in the states!  Be well and here's to our guts healing ❤️
    • Wends
Lol that’s so true! Hope you get clarity, it’s tough when there’s doubt. There’s so much known about celiac disease with all the scientific research that’s been done so far yet practically and clinically there’s also so much unknown, still. Out of curiosity what’s her dairy consumption like? Even compared to early years to now? Has that changed? Calcium is dependent in the mechanism of antigen presenting cells in the gut. High calcium foods with gluten grains can initiate inflammation greater.  This is why breakfast cereals and milk combo long term can be a ticking time bomb for genetically susceptible celiacs (not a scientific statement by any means but my current personal opinion based on reasoning at present). Milk and wheat are the top culprits for food sensitivity. Especially in childhood. There are also patient cases of antibodies normalising in celiac children who had milk protein intolerance/ delayed type allergy. Some asymptomatic. There were a couple of cases of suspected celiacs that turned out to have milk protein intolerance that normalised antibodies on a gluten containing diet. Then there were others that only normalised antibodies once gluten and milk was eliminated. Milk kept the antibodies positive. Celiac disease is complicated to say the least.
