Speaking of skin afflictions, why is it that no one ever seems to get boils or carbuncles anymore? I remember my dad talking about having them as a kid, and how they were not uncommon in my grandparents' age..... . ..have they gone the way of the dodo?

...... . . . . ...Or perhaps I'm simply not fraternizing with boil-prone peeps.. . . .....

Oh! Did I not mention them ?? huh.gif

...but pseriously, wee Alzy gets 'em ALL the time.... and they hurt him BIG time dry.gif

Yeah . . . can't drink Tequila anymore . . . but that had nothing to do with the phluugh . . .

Pernod (dear gaaaawd - that was baaaaaaaad)

OMG.. .. . . . . I thought youse guys were talking about our Psillie Theresa (Tuhreeeeesuh). .. ...I was frantically trying to remember if we had heard that T was auctioning off all of her life's belongings, having declared bankruptcy.. . ..I even rushed over to Da Book and checked out her profile page.:rolleyes: .. . .. . . ....Thank gawd, I was remiss.. . ...!

Me too!!!

May pack up my kitchen and forget where all the pans are to avoid everyone at Thanksgiving.

Now THAT sounds like a plan!!!! I may need to try that! ;)

(A giant gilded mirror just didn't sound like Tea)

I thought maybe it was an estate of a deceased family member.

 Tell that to me husband! This had better be the end of it....since I've know youse guys, I've moved....let's see...4 times! Darn (sorry Jan-it) good thing I'm always able to take you all wif me :D:wub:

I am still convinced that you moved to TexA$$ just for me

By the way, did I mention that we bought a house?? . . . OK, OK . . . so it's the same house that we bought last time . . . we refinanced and are doing a 15 year loan so at least we chopped about 7 years off the amount of time it will take us to pay this puppy off . . . and there is no packing or lifting of furniture involved.

That's my kind of move! :P

I've got Vicodin for the pain, works pretty good. It's taken about 80% of the pain away, and makes me a little happy/fuzzy, which I don't mind.

Ain't it wonderful? ^_^ Then there's oxycontin, which puts me into la-la land :D

Sorry to hear about the shingles, Bun-knee.....and on the phace, no less! :o

And did you miss my motorcycle accident?

I'm gonna sit home and watch my Netflix and eat squishy foods, since I can't chew.... Wish I could justify a pint of Haagen Dazs...........

......and talk to your psillies :)

curlyfries Contributor

By the way- thanks you guys. You are all so completely awesome, and I couldn't ask for better friends, near or far away like you all are. It's made me feel so much better to have people to talk to.

Fascinating puke stories, everyone <_<

Mucha stuff upon which to comment. .. . . . ..forgot the Quick Reply option, howevah....

Happy, happy anniversary, Leeeesargh and Brian! Hope you were able to throw both arms around him without much pain!

That's the way to move, Jyaghnutt! Well done. . . . ....

Bughnee's eye! DH's eyes stayed relatively unscathed, but his mouth was a mess, and I believe one of his nostrils was almost swollen shut. He did not have much pain.....he described the feeling as an off and on, burning itch. :(

Don't recall him getting any major pain-killers. I think he just drank rather heavily for a week er sumphin'... .. . ....and I did, as well, to make it easier when I looked at him... ....<_<

Took Hankster to the vet for his second booster. He is now 32 pounds, up six from two weeks ago. His father was not a big standard, but his mom was, so we'll see. Elsie is still able to throw him around when they play-wrestle, but the tide will soon be turning, and she will need to be changing tactics. In a couple of months she will likely have to practice strike-and-run... . . . . ...

Leeser, a motorcycle accident??!?!?!? Oh no!!! I'm SO GLAD you're (mostly) ok. I think you deserve ice cream therapy more than I do!

Judy- You said how you can't imagine how it can get worse and then it does? Well, apparently my aunt had shingles quite recently, and they spread to her CROTCH. I don't feel so bad for myself anymore....... How do you treat that?.....

Emmel- the rash itself is uncomfortable, but nowhere near as bad as that poison sumac I had last year. The problem is with my trigeminal nerve, the one that comes out of your temple and into your lower jaw. I guess shingles doesn't always come with the severe nerve pain it's famous for, so your hubby got lucky. Basically the left side of my face feels like I went ten rounds with Mike Tyson, and then he bit my ear off.

My mum brought me Burt's Bees clay pore refining mask, I slather it all over the bumpies and now the skin doesn't even hurt a little. I'm just taking the Vicodin for the nerve pain now. And the bumpies inside my ear do hurt, I can't smear clay in there..... Clay stuff smells like heaven too, it's like aromatherapy while it's still wet!

I meant to comment, is that Hank in your avatar? He's so beautiful! Is he a standard poodle? We've been trying to decide what kind of dog we're going to get someday when we have a dog friendly home.

Well, like one or two we've had before, he just may be a substandard poodle... . . ...what wif curly tails, legs too long, eyes too wide apart - - so many "technical faults" my standards have had! But this is what has made them so tremendous...

They are a tremendous breed, Bughnee, and I would recommend them to anyone. What may be considered minuses: they are FIERCELY intelligent, always looking for things to do, jobs to be given, tricks to perform, ways to help out around the house.......they ain't the kind of dog that will be happy lying out in the backyard, ignored. And standards need daily exercise - - they are just not happy without a long, daily romp. They also need regular clipping, but the excellent trade-off here is NO shedding.

 Bunnie's in her happy place... .wacko.gif

YAY! Jyesss is away, and likely having trouble making time to drink heavily and then post. .. . ....so keep typin' away, Bhun!

OMG. . . ......JACK IS BACK!

I've got another installment of Jacques' Phacts for our Psills.

Um, take note of the changing subject matter of Jack's engaging trivial posits. . .......he has turned thirteen.. . . ...... ..

The Ripper came into the kitchen and, after asking when dinner would be ready <_<, announced that he FINALLY had a great piece of ponderable trivia for The Psillies.

He will not divulge his sources, but encourages me to cross-reference these things for validation. Methinks perhaps I shall for this one.. . ..

Since 1964, there have been seven documented cases of women being impregnated by water slides.

I saw a young woman who I swear was 3 plus  And she didn't even know it  Had on a simple dress with a swimsuit-type top where the bra cups become the strap around the neck. She had cleavage (of sorts  ) but it was lying totally flat against her chest all the way down that you could see (and who knows how much further  ) and did not fill out the cups at all. It was one of those moments when you just stand stock still and say "That is so wrong!" I was standing gaping long after she and her husband had passed.

Hey all  Has anyone on here experienced any of the following on their basic metabolic panel results ? This is what mine is currently flagging : - low sodium  - nearly too low potassium - nearly too low chloride - high CO2  - low anion gap  This is now after being nearly gluten-free for over a year (although I admit I make mistakes sometimes and pay dearly for it). My TtG went down to undetectable. I was so sensitive to so many foods I am now avoiding meat dairy and don’t eat a lot of cooked food in general (raw veggies, white rice, avocados and boiled eggs are my usual go-to meal that doesn’t make me sick). But my abdomen still hurts, i have a range of other symptoms too (headaches that last for days before letting up, fatigue, joint pain, bladder pain). Anyway im hoping my urologist (that’s now the latest specialist I’ve seen on account of the bladder pain and cloudy urine after eating certain foods) will help me with this since he ordered this metabolic panel. But I’m bouncing around a lot between specialists and still not sure what’s wrong. Also went back to the GI doctor and she thought maybe the celiac is just not healed or I have something else going on in the colon and I should have that looked at too. I’m still anemic too BTW. And I’m taking sooo may vitamins daily.

I know I haven't been tested but self diagnosed that by avoiding gluten the past 7 months I feel so much better. I have followed how to eat and avoid gluten and have been good about hidden gluten in products, how to prep gluten-free and flours to use to bake gluten-free and have been very successful. It has been a learning curve but once you get the hang of it and more aware you realize how many places are gluten-free and contamination free practices etc. One thing I have read is how soy is like gluten. How would one know if soy affects you? I have eaten gluten free hershey reeses that say gluten free etc some other snacks say gluten free but contain soy and I dont get sick or soy yogurt no issues. Is there adifference in soys?

Check your multivitamin to see if it contains Thiamine Mononitrate, which is a "shelf-stable" form of thiamine that doesn't break down with exposure to light, heat, and time sitting on a shelf waiting to be sold.  Our bodies have difficulty absorbing and utilizing it.  Only 30% is absorbed and less can be utilized.   There's some question as to how well multivitamins dissolve in the digestive tract.  You can test this at home.  YouTube has instructional videos.   Talk to your nutritionist about adding a B Complex.  The B vitamins are water soluble, so any excess is easily excreted if not needed.  Consider adding additional Thiamine in the forms Benfotiamine or TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) or thiamine hydrochloride.   Thiamine is needed to help control electrolytes.  Without sufficient thiamine, the kidneys loose electrolytes easily resulting in low sodium and chloride.   We need extra thiamine when we're emotionally stressed, physically ill, and when we exercise regularly, are an athlete, or do physical labor outdoors, and in hot weather.  Your return to activities and athletics may have depleted your thiamine and other B vitamins to a point symptoms are appearing.   The deficiency symptoms of B vitamins overlap, and can be pretty vague, or easily written off as due to something else like being tired after a busy day.  The symptoms you listed are the same as early B vitamin deficiency symptoms, especially Thiamine.  Thiamine deficiency symptoms can appear in as little as three days.  I recognize the symptoms as those I had when I was deficient.  It can get much worse. "My symptoms are as follows: Dizziness, lightheaded, headaches (mostly sinus), jaw/neck pain, severe tinnitus, joint stiffness, fatigue, irregular heart rate, post exercise muscle fatigue and soreness, brain fog, insomnia.  Generally feeling unwell." I took a B 50 Complex twice a day and extra thiamine in the forms Benfotiamine and TTFD.  I currently take the Ex Plus supplement used in this study which shows B vitamins, especially Thiamine B 1, Riboflavin B2, Pyridoxine B 6, and B12 Cobalamine are very helpful.   A functional evaluation of anti-fatigue and exercise performance improvement following vitamin B complex supplementation in healthy humans, a randomized double-blind trial https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10542023/

I am taking a multivitamin which is pretty bolstered with B’s.  Additional Calcium, D3, Magnesium, Vit C, and Ubiquinol.  Started Creapure creatine monohydrate in June for athletic recovery and brain fog.  I have been working with a Nutritionist along side my Dr. since February.  My TTG IGA levels in January were 52.8 and my DGP IGA was >250 (I don’t know the exact number since it was so high).  All my other labs were normal except Sodium and Chloride which were low.  I have more labs coming up in Dec.  I make my own bread, and don’t eat a lot of processed gluten-free snacks.
    • knitty kitty
@Scatterbrain, What supplements are you taking? I agree that the problem may be nutritional deficiencies.  It's worth talking to a dietician or nutritionist about.   Did you get a Marsh score at your diagnosis?  Was your tTg IgA level very high?  These can indicate more intestinal damage and poorer absorption of nutrients.   Are you eating processed gluten free food stuffs?  Have you looked into the Autoimmune Protocol Diet?
