Never been called Crayon before. Called a lot of other things...kinda like Crayon. It's colorful. Can I be magenta or aquamarine?

Used to live in old town Alex. Where were you? We could have helped Muffin with the wine!

I changed my av to a glass mosaic crab from my project. Can you see him?

Hi Crayon,

Yep, of course you can! Quinacridone magenta is all yours, and very appropriate too!

I can't see your mosaicatar yet. I live on Crapital Hill near H Street NE. From my house, you can smell the tax dollars burning, only 6 blocks from the hot air center of the universe.

Old Town Alexandria is a neat area. I imagine you went to the Torpedo Factory Art Center there? I took some art classes there a few years back. Nice place.

Jeee-Eff, you have a new av? It must be a pic of pizza, I'm figgerin'. .. . ...I canna get it to appear, even after hitting F5.. . ..it's still just that funny li'l man.. . . ... . .

Post a pic of yer painting, Jeee! Wanna see it. . . !

Sorry M-Lee, Crayon fingered it out. I had changed my profile pic but not my avaturd. Hmmm, I have to download the pics first. Guess that is all right to post? I am not sure on the rules for that. I am working on another one today, will see how it goes.

You want a pic of one of my boys for my av?

Ha ha ha! Y-not? Gobble gobble. :D

Gee efff, you changed your profile pic but maybe not the AV? 2 different things. Go to change the av in change my profile. Then put your stick body in there. I really like that pic!

Yep, Crayon, the computer nose what I want to do but doesn't like to help me sometimes. Silly stubborn computer. The delaid reaction was not a PWTB policy at all!

OK, Muffin may have got some wine somewhere. Or some catnip. She turned on the ceiling fan in the bedroom again. Every once in a while she does that, and then some days later she turns it off.

Somewhere she has hidden the remote control for the fan and likes to play with it occasionally. Danged if I can find it. She won't say where it is hidden either.

A few weeks ago she had it turned on full high speed, and it was chilly in there too! Then she turned it off and it's been off for a few weeks. She is darn ornery sometimes, now she has it running on low. At least that isn't too bad for the chill factor. She won't sleep on the bed when it is on full high speed tho. Cam dat!

:D

Can anyone see the reddish crab in my avatar? I did the same thing I did before and it looked OK.

Yes, Gee Eff, we used to go to the T Factory a lot. Went to a costume Mardi Gras party. The costumes were amazing!

Yes, I see it. You're anything but a crab my dear Karreennee!! I'm supposed to be getting ready to leave so I'm trying to stay offline. It's a bit addictive, isn't it?

I'll be back (like AHRNOLD)

Jeee-Eff! I can see yer new pic now - - a rather surreal stick-man. Is this a rendering of your face? You look rather old-fashioned villian-like.. . . ..the type who once tied young damsels to the railroad tracks. . . . .... .. .. .

Man, I'm just realizing what a horrific thing this would be to do to a damsel. ... . . . talk about being in distress.....gawd, imagine being bound, immobile, on those big tracks... . . . .. ..a massive locomotive approaching, rails pounding, whistle screaming.. .. . ..... ...

Gah. Squish.

Right, then... . .back to Psilliness.. .. . .

Don't they always get saved by a Canadian Mountie?

So, I needed to clean out this one small kitchen cabinet thingy. It was full of recipes, most of which, for glutinous reasons, I will never make. I wanted to make room for a few things that got displaced by the dining room furniture change. This of course has now led to the cleaning of several more areas in the kitchen. You cannot clean one mess up without it creating another mess! And conundrums about what will fit in the space. By the time I get through, we won't be able to find anything! Also, do flower vases replicate themselves?

Love the picture of Dudley Doright.

I wonder if the florist would want to re-use the vases? It seems a waste to throw them out.

Wonder how Jess's busy weekend is going? Wonder if they made it to any of the things they were planning? ;)

I'm sure they would--my son's girlfriend's family owns 2 florist shops and I had a ton of vases building up at one point. I finally asked if they could use them and she said definitely.

Hi M-lee,

Yep, that's my mug, or somewhat like it anyhow. Damsels actually like being tied to the tracks a lot if you ask me. They always make a bunch of those fun little squeakly sounds of joy thru their gags. Such a blast they are having!

Hub has decided that the gathering for his employees/ co- workers should just be a quick pop by after work for a drink during the week. Now I'm afraid I will have too much food!

Well, since I'm talking to myself, I'll go make that crab some friends.

This sounds vaguely familiar. I have some stuff in the living room that needs to go in the attic, so I have to clean and organize the attic.....getting rid of stuff. Some things in the attic need to go in the closet under the stairs, so now I have to clean that out (the Twa can be soooo messy! They are serious hoarders <_< )

In the past week I have managed to bruise my arm at the exact place I broke it AND bruised my elbow on the same arm! :( Oye!

Exactly right on the cleaning! But with your re-injured arm, you won't be able to clean for weeks. ;)

I did go see the Picasso exhibit and it is fabulous. If it tours near you it's worth the effort. I'm taking today off to do my homework and because I can. :)

Heading out for a walk, which I haven't done in a long time.

Looks like Picasso is going to Richmond Virginia Feb-May.

I just saw that. However far you are from Virgina, it's still a lot closer than Paris...

@Jane02, I hear you about the kale and collard greens.  I don't do dairy and must eat green leafies, too, to get sufficient calcium.  I must be very careful because some calcium supplements are made from ground up crustacean shells.  When I was deficient in Vitamin D, I took high doses of Vitamin D to correct the deficiency quickly.  This is safe and nontoxic.  Vitamin D level should be above 70 nmol/L.  Lifeguards and indigenous Pacific Islanders typically have levels between 80-100 nmol/L.   Levels lower than this are based on amount needed to prevent disease like rickets and osteomalacia. We need more thiamine when we're physically ill, emotionally and mentally stressed, and if we exercise like an athlete or laborer.  We need more thiamine if we eat a diet high in simple carbohydrates.  For every 500 kcal of carbohydrates, we need 500-1000 mg more of thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  If there's insufficient thiamine the carbs get stored as fat.  Again, recommended levels set for thiamine are based on minimum amounts needed to prevent disease.  This is often not adequate for optimum health, nor sufficient for people with absorption problems such as Celiac disease.  Gluten free processed foods are not enriched with vitamins like their gluten containing counterparts.  Adding a B Complex and additional thiamine improves health for Celiacs.  Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  Thiamine helps the mitochondria in cells to function.  Thiamine interacts with each of the other B vitamins.  They are all water soluble and easily excreted if not needed. Interesting Reading: Clinical trial: B vitamins improve health in patients with coeliac disease living on a gluten-free diet https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19154566/ Safety and effectiveness of vitamin D mega-dose: A systematic review https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34857184/ High dose dietary vitamin D allocates surplus calories to muscle and growth instead of fat via modulation of myostatin and leptin signaling https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38766160/ Safety of High-Dose Vitamin D Supplementation: Secondary Analysis of a Randomized Controlled Trial https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31746327/ Vitamins and Celiac Disease: Beyond Vitamin D https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11857425/ Investigating the therapeutic potential of tryptophan and vitamin A in modulating immune responses in celiac disease: an experimental study https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40178602/ Investigating the Impact of Vitamin A and Amino Acids on Immune Responses in Celiac Disease Patients https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10814138/

Thank you so much @knitty kitty for this insightful information! I would have never considered fractionated coconut oil to be a potential source of GI upset. I will consider all the info you shared. Very interesting about the Thiamine deficiency.  I've tracked daily averages of my intake in a nutrition software. The only nutrient I can't consistently meet from my diet is vitamin D. Calcium is a hit and miss as I rely on vegetables, dark leafy greens as a major source, for my calcium intake. I'm able to meet it when I either eat or juice a bundle of kale or collard greens daily haha. My thiamine intake is roughly 120% of my needs, although I do recognize that I may not be absorbing all of these nutrients consistently with intermittent unintentional exposures to gluten.  My vitamin A intake is roughly 900% (~6400 mcg/d) of my needs as I eat a lot of sweet potato, although since it's plant-derived vitamin A (beta-carotene) apparently it's not likely to cause toxicity.  Thanks again!

Hello, @Jane02,  I take Naturewise D 3.  It contains olive oil.   Some Vitamin D supplements, like D Drops, are made with fractionated coconut oil which can cause digestive upsets.  Fractionated coconut oil is not the same as coconut oil used for cooking.  Fractionated coconut oil has been treated for longer shelf life, so it won't go bad in the jar, and thus may be irritating to the digestive system. I avoid supplements made with soy because many people with Celiac Disease also react to soy.  Mixed tocopherols, an ingredient in Thornes Vitamin D, may be sourced from soy oil.  Kirkland's has soy on its ingredient list. I avoid things that might contain or be exposed to crustaceans, like Metagenics says on its label.  I have a crustacean/shellfish/fish allergy.  I like Life Extension Bioactive Complete B Complex.  I take additional Thiamine B 1 in the form Benfotiamine which helps the intestines heal, Life Extension MegaBenfotiamine. Thiamine is needed to activate Vitamin D.   Low thiamine can make one feel like they are getting glutened after a meal containing lots of simple carbohydrates like white rice, or processed gluten free foods like cookies and pasta.   It's rare to have a single vitamin deficiency.  The water soluble B Complex vitamins should be supplemented together with additional Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine and Thiamine TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) to correct subclinical deficiencies that don't show up on blood tests.  These are subclinical deficiencies within organs and tissues.  Blood is a transportation system.  The body will deplete tissues and organs in order to keep a supply of thiamine in the bloodstream going to the brain and heart.   If you're low in Vitamin D, you may well be low in other fat soluble vitamins like Vitamin A and Vitamin K. Have you seen a dietician?

I do not know this, but since they are labelled gluten-free, and are not really a product that could easily be contaminated when making them (there would be not flour in the air of such a facility, for example), I don't really see contamination as something to be concerned about for this type of product.
