Wow! So good it's worth stomach ache and boils! I must try this!

Hope it's not too bad.

Vomited from 8-830 last night. Wouldn't digest at all. Thought if I worked out, it would help it move thru. Moved in the wrong direction <_< I broke all the blood vessels around my left eye and my face is all puffy. I'm quite a sight today :rolleyes:

I need one of these, methinks!

CANDY CANE MARTINI

Ingredients:

* 1 1/2 oz. vodka

* 1 tsp. peppermint schnapps

Mixing instructions:

Mix all ingredients with ice in a shaker. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Option: Garnish with a small candy cane or create a candy cane "rimmer" with crushed candy canes.

Is she never coming back? I figure mine will come back for breaks and such so I will have to keep a space for them.

Does she know what she wants to study? J want to do mechanical engineering but not sure where he is going. Probably somewhere sort of local.

She'll definitely come back for breaks. If she's like my son she'll bring lots of laundry.

OK, really going to class now (really don't want to leave the house). It's a torrential downpour so that doesn't help.

My kids don't always go for a human Santa when buying me presents. I think he is actually a donkey. It's hard to get a good pic in a small square.

My hair was so long too! Right before that pic was taken, one of my good guy friends (who I was secretly in love with) yelled, "I LOVE YOU RACHELLE" from the audience. Twas dead silent as he did that. Made my freakin year!

I had a crazy collection of decorated tights and socks-twas my 'thing' Principle and board members got wind that my group of friends were all going to wear these socks during graduation and they threatened us all with NO diplomas if we showed up in said socks. I told them to stuff it--I was graduating 2nd in my class, was in student gov't, sports, etc.... NEVER got into any trouble, and since this was my thing, and had been my thing for the 4 years I was there, I was going to wear the socks and they weren't going to do anything about it! And they really couldn't-it's not like I was breaking any dress codes! My socks were red and white stripes. I'll see if I can dig one of those up...

A video of what? Usually people put the camera on a tripod near the bed

and don't need a full camera crew. Or so I've heard.

OK.....gotta little time to give y'all an update. Thanksgiving went well. Our current household consists of 5 people, and my brother came. We always have turkey with my famous praline sweet potatoes....converted to gluten-free of course. Since last year, new favorites have become tradition.....homemade creamed corn and peanut butter pie. I also added seasoned green beans.

Of course......I couldn't eat the sweet potatoes or pie :( Well.....I did take one small taste of the pie Thursday and one Friday. That was enough for a reaction, but not too terrible.

What's kept me so busy lately is that DD and I are doing a major household clean-out. Trying to make this place look more organized with so many people. OK....so 5 isn't really that many, but it's 2 families......and babies take up sooo much space! I don't chill until 11:00 most nights.

Annnd.....then maybe we'll be ready when DS and wife come to visit for a week right before Christmas :)

Feeling yucky yesterday and today.....something I ate. Either CC or another food intolerance. Pretty sure it's the latter. Going to make an app't with an allergist when I get off here. Been putting it off way too long.

My arm still gives me trouble, but it doesn't keep me from dancing. I suppose I should do the exercises I was told to do. :rolleyes: Right after I get done scrubbing floors, raking leaves, and hefting stuff into the attic :P

      In the study linked above, the little girl switched to a gluten free diet and gained enough weight that that fat pad was replenished and surgery was not needed.   Here's the full article link... Hello, @Jordan Carlson, So glad you're feeling better.   Tecta is a proton pump inhibitor.  PPI's also interfere with the production of the intrinsic factor needed to absorb Vitamin B12.  Increasing the amount of B12 you supplement has helped overcome the lack of intrinsic factor needed to absorb B12. Proton pump inhibitors also reduce the production of digestive juices (stomach acids).  This results in foods not being digested thoroughly.  If foods are not digested sufficiently, the vitamins and other nutrients aren't released from the food, and the body cannot absorb them.  This sets up a vicious cycle. Acid reflux and Gerd are actually symptoms of producing too little stomach acid.  Insufficient stomach acid production is seen with Thiamine and Niacin deficiencies.  PPI's like Tecta also block the transporters that pull Thiamine into cells, preventing absorption of thiamine.  Other symptoms of Thiamine deficiency are difficulty swallowing, gagging, problems with food texture, dysphagia. Other symptoms of Thiamine deficiency are symptoms of ADHD and anxiety.  Vyvanse also blocks thiamine transporters contributing further to Thiamine deficiency.  Pristiq has been shown to work better if thiamine is supplemented at the same time because thiamine is needed to make serotonin.  Doctors don't recognize anxiety and depression and adult onset ADHD as early symptoms of Thiamine deficiency. Stomach acid is needed to digest Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) in fruits and vegetables.  Ascorbic acid left undigested can cause intestinal upsets, anxiety, and heart palpitations.   Yes, a child can be born with nutritional deficiencies if the parents were deficient.  Parents who are thiamine deficient have offspring with fewer thiamine transporters on cell surfaces, making thiamine deficiency easier to develop in the children.  A person can struggle along for years with subclinical vitamin deficiencies.  Been here, done this.  Please consider supplementing with Thiamine in the form TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) which helps immensely with dysphagia and neurological symptoms like anxiety, depression, and ADHD symptoms.  Benfotiamine helps with improving intestinal health.  A B Complex and NeuroMag (a magnesium supplement), and Vitamin D are needed also.

      @pothosqueen, Welcome to the tribe! You'll want to get checked for nutritional deficiencies and start on supplementation of B vitamins, especially Thiamine Vitamin B 1.   There's some scientific evidence that the fat pad that buffers the aorta which disappears in SMA is caused by deficiency in Thiamine.   In Thiamine deficiency, the body burns its stored fat as a source of fuel.  That fat pad between the aorta and digestive system gets used as fuel, too. Ask for an Erythrocyte Transketolace Activity test to look for thiamine deficiency.  Correction of thiamine deficiency can help restore that fat pad.   Best wishes for your recovery!   Interesting Reading: Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome in a 6-Year-Old Girl with Final Diagnosis of Celiac Disease https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31089433/#:~:text=Affiliations,tissue and results in SMAS.

      Wow! You're pretty young to have a diagnosis of SMA syndrome. But youth also has its advantages when it comes to healing, without a doubt. You might be surprised to find out how your health improves and how much better you feel once you eliminate gluten from your diet. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder that, when gluten is consumed, triggers an attack on the villous lining of the small bowel. This is the section of the intestines where all our nutrition is absorbed. It is made up of billions of tiny finger-like projections that create a tremendous surface area for absorbing nutrients. For the person with celiac disease, unchecked gluten consumption generates inflammation that wears down these fingers and, over time, greatly reduces the nutrient absorbing efficiency of the small bowel lining. This can generate a whole host of other nutrient deficiency related medical problems. We also now know that the autoimmune reaction to gluten is not necessarily limited to the lining of the small bowel such that celiac disease can damage other body systems and organs such as the liver and the joints and cause neurological problems.  It can take around two years for the villous lining to completely heal but most people start feeling better well before then. It's also important to realize that celiac disease can cause intolerance to some other foods whose protein structures are similar to gluten. Chief among them are dairy and oats but also eggs, corn and soy. Just keep that in mind.
