Hey everyone, I'm curious...what do you spend on groceries a week? It seems to me our food is tres expensive here.

Just getting used to things down here, and Mark wasn't home much for dinner for the first several weeks.....

In PA, there were 3 of us and I spent about $200 a week all told. Yeah..... <_<

Now, with just the two of us in TX, it's probably about $100 a week. We don't go out to eat much, just PF Changs a few times a month--and of course Starbucks.

Yep--better get to beddie-by Jess. Pee first!!;)

I have to give you all my recipe for easy frozen pina coladas:

2-12 oz cans frozen lemonade

1-15 oz can coco lopez pure cream of coconut

1-48 oz can 100% pineapple juice

3 cups bacardi light rum

7-up

Mix all ingredients except 7-up in a freezer safe pastic container with lid (leave room in top for vapors--don't overfill). Freeze over night. When ready to serve, scoop out pina colada mix and add small amount of 7-up to achieve desired consistency.

Yum!!!

jerseyangel Proficient

Those look yummy, R. I used to love Pina Coladas, but I can't tolerate coconut anymore.

Stupid, inconvenient intolerances <_<

I can, however, tolerate wine--and am doing so more and more as of late

GOOD HUNGOVER MORNING, YA BUNCH O' P!SSTANKS!

(In my very loudest cyber-voice). . . . .....

:lol::lol::lol:

Such entertaining reading . . . .. . ....thank you so much, guys -- something I really needed this morning. LAFFS!

Your meandering discourse through last evening reminded me of the classic Flowers for Algernon. If you have not read it, you've missed a poignant masterpiece, and it is well worth it. It is a fantasy story - - the printed diary of a young man who is very mentally challenged (Down's syndrome, perhaps). His writing is exactly like the 11 pm rantings of Jyess and Rayechull.

A scientist begins to study him, and administers a new neurological drug that may "cure" mental retardation. Incredible what happens as one reads along - -the changes that slowly begin to occur with his discourse.

But NO SUCH thing happened last eve - - just kept declining into a final debauchery.

Wish I'd been there!

Friend's hibyy is out of work (drat this economy). He's made himself a goal of finding a bird feeder that will defetat the squirrles.

OMG.....I don't wanna know. .. . . .... ... . . .. . .... ...a feeder that will DEFETAT the squirrels?... ....... . .. ...does it irradicate or neutralize them? Squish them? Fill them with toxic gas?

Jyess, you need to defetat yer boss.

I am in for Texas, depending on the time of year. We have often talked about a trip down south, and Texas would be brilliant. .. . ... . .

. . ....In Patteigh's new home!!!!! :):)

My dad is actually awake now. .. ...haven't heard much more.....going in this am. Thank so much, dear friends, for your concern. . . . . .....:wub:

Poor Jess. Now it's 'crying rain'--the moanin' after.

No headache pour mois. The first couple of sips make me feel mellow and buzzed and relaxed. By the end of the second drink I feel sober again and get the shakes. Hard to sleep. Wine especially does this to me.

"For the love of Peter"-- a new classic!!:lol:

Have faith, you will survive. I get mine from Pipingrock.com.  500 capsules of 10,000 IU for $22.  That is almost two years worth for me.  250 caps 5000 IU for $6.69 if you only take 5,000 a day.  It's like half the price of Walmart.

Testing can't alone be trusted.  Else why would it take so many years of testing and retesting and misdiagnosis to finally be told, yes you have Celiac Disease. As to what to eat, I like pre 1950 style food.  Before the advent of TV dinners.  Fresh food is better for you, and cooking from scratch is cheaper.  Watch Rachel Ray's 30 Minute Meals for how to cook.  Keep in mind that she is not gluten free, but her techniques are awesome.  Just use something else instead of wheat, barley, rye. Dr Fuhrman is a ex cardiologist.  His book Eat to Live and Dr Davis' book Wheatbelly were instrumental in my survival.

If you have DH you will likely also want to avoid iodine, which is common in seafoods and dairy products, as it can exacerbate symptoms in some people. This article may also be helpful as it offers various ways to relieve the itch--thanks for the tip about Dupixent, and I've added it to the article:

I just want to clarify that what I posted is a category of research summaries we've done over the years, and nearly each one shows that there is definitely a connection to celiac disease and migraine headaches. The latest study said: "the study did indicate some potential causal associations between celiac disease and migraine with or without aura, as well as between migraine without aura and ulcerative colitis...this study did not find evidence of a shared genetic basis..." Anyway, there is definitely a connection, and you can go through more of the articles here if you're interested: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/celiac-disease-amp-related-diseases-and-disorders/migraine-headaches-and-celiac-disease/

Two months ago, I started taking Dupixent for dermatitis herpetiformis and it has completely cleared it up. I can't believe it! I have had a terrible painful, intensely itchy rash for over a year despite going fully gluten-free. See if your doctor will prescribe Dupixent. It can be expensive but I am getting it free. When the dermatitis herpetiformis was bad I could not do anything. I just lay in bed covered in ice packs to ease the pain/itching and using way too Clobetasol. Dapsone is also very good for dermatitis herpetiformis (and it is generic). It helped me and the results were immediate but it gave me severe anemia so the Dupixent is better for me. Not sure if it works for everyone. I cannot help with the cause of your stress but from experience I am sure the severe stress is making the celiac and dermatitis herpetiformis worse. Very difficult for you with having children to care for and you being so sick. Would this man be willing to see a family therapist with you? He may be angry at you or imagine that your illness is a psychosomatic excuse not to take care of him. A therapist might help even if he won't go with you. Also do you have any family that you could move in with (with the kids) for a short time to get away? A break may be good for you both.
