I find that dumping a potted plant over near anything that needs to be cleaned works really well. When whoever shows up you greet them with exasperation saying "I just finish cleaning and the cat goes and does this. Do you mind if we just hang out in the other room?"

I have a lot of plants

Great idea! Now all I need are some potted plants and a cat. I took 5 min. to vacuum area around "his" chair. Thats all it took! You gotta love a man who's clueless.

Ok sillies--I keep having this dream where I'm walking down a street in the downtown area of my hometown. All is well until I enter a store--then no matter which door I try to exit I don't recognize the area. Suddenly, it's a desolate, industrial kind of place. No one around.

Whoooooaaaaaa.. . .. ..... . .Pahteigh, this is eerie and much unsettling.......like somethin' outta Dickens. Tthings are suddenly not too phunnee. . .. . ...

Yes, being naked in such landscapes has happened to me in the odd dream. I'm trying to hide behind my hands, the side of a building, a large camel that suddenly lumbers in front of me. . . .... . . .... . ... . ..

Perfect for a deppresso. In this dream, do you know what kind of store this is? Do you feel that your future looks flat ( in real life). Are you in any kind of rut? Do you still have things to look forward to? Do you feel at all kind of locked into your currant situatio, even if thats a good place? I dunno.

Have you got yer clothes on? If you have the dream tonight, try to arrange it so you are naked. I'm curious to see if your nakedness brings about anything interesting, because mine never does. I just stand there, trying to cover up. Nothing changes, moves....no one looks. Gah. <_<

hmmm.....a humourless ranger and we are already dangling yeti ballcocks. Things get scary quick around here.

Gawd.....did our yeti have a ballcock? How soon we forget......just trying to picture........

. . . also, there's a money back guarantee. If you find that you are not enjoying yourself, just return your unused portion of the thread and someone . . . not me . . . will refund your purchase price (less delivery fees, of course).

There is a new promotion happening as we speak - - you can get a trade-in on a new thread, but only if you act within 24 hours of your first post here and you will not get an extended warranty. If the new thread gets yanked due to profanity or trolling, you're outta luck. So Sooooozan, you have a day to think it over. . . ..

Ballcock, ballcock. Yes, I'm beginning to like that word. Gotta run. I've got to quick do something obvious in the house so DH thinks I did something today! Later.

Wow. This is sounding good.. . . ....think Susan is a keeper. . . . ..

I'm off to fix dinner (something I really do). Thanks for the laughs. By the way, even though I read serious books, the dumber the comedy, the more I like it. Airplane still cracks me up, even though I've seen it many times. Later.

SAM HILL MANHEAD!! Oh, I miss him.......the way he used to sit on my dining room table, staring off, his silver/pewter face strong and impassive...... . . .

He sits in my buddy's front window, warding off bad men of ill intent. Truly, it's very funny -- he has not been moved from this location since I gave him to her last year.

Gad....how do we explain all of this to our Newbie? . . . . ...Well, Susan, y'see, my husband was in his work parking garage one morning last fall, and he spotted something kind of shiny over in the garbage collection area, and... ....well, .. . ......

Oh, crap. Ya gotta just go back1,000 pages or so. . . . . ....believe me, 'tis worth it. . . . . ........

Okay, Soooozun and Shroomie! Head back to page 1512 - - mid-November 2008 - - the sudden introduction of Sam Hill Manhead into our lives. . . .......

Reading it again, I remain fascinated in where he came from..... . . ....why he was there, right when DH was unlocking his car.... . . . ....what does it meeeeeeean?

I think I need to generate an RCMP inquiry ........ ..

OK. It's Sat morn and I'm not awake yet. The only glasses I can find slide off my face when I look down. I am computer (almost) illiterate. And you want me to go to page 1512. How do you do that? One page at a time? Does this silver man have anything to do with a garage in Washington left perhaps by a man in a trenchcoat who refers to himself lovingly as Deep Throat? If not, Please instruct. I had a grin on my face yesterday - could that be the beginning of an attack of funny?

Good Saturday mornin' sillies B)

I can see Bevvie dancing in a phloaty skirt, barephoot. A beautiphul, phree spirit :D

Good "going back", Em!! Our sillie newbies can now read the saga of Sam Hill Manhead in it's entirety--surely required reading for all sills. :P

What else.....Nik--send DC wif tea toot-sweet!!! A proper English tea sounds so much nicer than me (hole-y) tea bags

Last night just as I was going to sleep, I turned and saw the biggest black bug on the wall, up near the ceiling :o I woke up Mark :P who tried to swat it with a rolled up newspaper, but only succeeded in knocking it to the floor--where it ran under the bed. Then it just disappeared

I, of course, over-reacted and could not possibly sleep with this thing at large in the room  , so we moved the bedside tables and the bed away from the wall and still could not find it. I had the vacuum cleaner on, wand attachment in hand ready to suck it up and get rid of the bag--but got naught

Mark, of course, fell back to sleep immediately <_< --I, however kept the TV on and watched for a return of the thing for half the night......

The rate of damage to the villous lining of the SB and the corresponding loss of nutrient absorbing efficiency varies tremendously from celiac to celiac. Yes, probably is dose dependent if, by dose dependent you mean the amount of exposure to gluten. But damage rates and level of sensitivity also seem to depend on the genetic profile. Those with both genes HLA-DQ2 and HLA-DQ8 seem to be more sensitive to minor amounts of gluten exposure than those with just one of those genes and those with only DQ2 seem to be more sensitive than those with only DQ8. But there are probably many factors that influence the damage rate to the villi as well as intensity of reaction to exposure. There is still a lot we don't know. One of the gray areas is in regard to those who are "silent" celiacs, i.e. those who seem to be asymptomatic or whose symptoms are so minor that they don't garner attention. When they get a small exposure (such as happens in cross contamination) and have no symptoms does that equate to no inflammation? We don't necessarily know. The "sensitive" celiac knows without a doubt, however, when they get exposure from cross contamination and the helps them know better what food products to avoid.

Help!  My 5 year old daughter just stopped eating dairy and gluten due to her EoE and Celiac.  Her favorite candy in the world is tootsie rolls.  I did some research, and it sounds like these are the only options for finding something similar, but I can't find them anywhere to actually purchase.  Have they been discontinued??  Does anyone have another recommendation for a gluten-free/DF tootsie roll option?
    • catnapt
I wonder how long it usually takes and if it is dose dependent as well... or if some ppl have a more pronounced reaction to gluten than others   thanks again for all the great info
    • suek54
Wow KK, thank you so much for all your attached info. I had a very quick scan but will read more in depth later.  The one concerning corticosteroid use is very interesting. That would relate to secondary adrenal insufficiency I think , ie AI caused by steroids such as taken long term for eg asthma. I have primary autoimmune AI, my adrenals are atrophied, no chance if recovery there. But I am in touch with some secondaries, so something to bear in mind. .  Niacin B3 Very interesting too. Must have a good read about that.  Im sure lots of questions will arise as I progress with dermatitis herpetiformis. In the mean time, thanks for your help.

Welcome to the forum, @suek54, I have Dermatitis Herpetiformis, too.  I found taking Niacin B3 very helpful in clearing my skin from blisters as well as improving the itchies-without-rash (peripheral neuropathy).  Niacin has been used since the 1950's to improve dermatitis herpetiformis.   I try to balance my iodine intake (which will cause flairs) with Selenium which improves thyroid function.   Interesting Reading: Dermatitis herpetiformis effectively treated with heparin, tetracycline and nicotinamide https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10844495/   Experience with selenium used to recover adrenocortical function in patients taking glucocorticosteroids long https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24437222/   Two Cases of Dermatitis Herpetiformis Successfully Treated with Tetracycline and Niacinamide https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30390734/   Steroid-Resistant Rash With Neuropsychiatric Deterioration and Weight Loss: A Modern-Day Case of Pellagra https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12532421/#:~:text=Figure 2.,(right panel) upper limbs.&text=The distribution of the rash, patient's substantial response to treatment.   Nicotinic acid therapy of dermatitis herpetiformis (1950) https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15412276/
