Loey Rising Star

The interview went beyond well. They will get back to him on when they want him to come in for a day of interviews and for Superman to give a presentation of his work. He's used to giving presentations so he just has to fine tune it for this job.Looks like we'll have two homes. We won't sell the house in RI (not even sure if we could right now as there are 3 brand new ones left in the development and our neighbor's who moved away have their house for sale). Also we do love this house and it's proximity to a lot of beautiful places and the the beach (only went one time this summer due to health but once Labor Day passes Westerly will return to the off season and the beaches will be fairly empty).

So ... we'll get a small apartment in Massachusetts (as I mentioned) and when I don't have doctor's appointments I'll go up there (it's 2 hours away). I feel funny asking him to keep the apartment gluten-free since he'll be there more than I will. I'll have to discuss it with him. My celiac is much better (probably because the house is totally gluten-free). It's all the other illnesses that are out of control. Any opinions or suggestions about how to handle the gluten-free issue at the apt.delicately? Superman has been so good about keeping our house gluten-free and taking care of me. He wouldn't even consider a job unless he felt I was getting better (which thank God I seem to be). This all happened so quickly (although initially he was recommended and submitted his resume a year ago when he was first unemployed but they did't have anything at the time).

Phew - the timing is perfect. His severance & medical run out at the end of September and he's almost done with unemployment.

OK, time to shower and go food shopping. Thanks for listening, as always. Again, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Love & Hugs,

Loey

Wow Loey! So glad to see that things are looking up! You are such an inspiration with your positive outlook during all that you have been through! You deserve only the best that life has to offer. Your Superman seems to be a keeper. Do you really think it will be necessary to "handle the gluten-free issue at the apt."? I think he's got your back. ;)

I think as long as he keeps a shelf or two in the fridge dedicated to gluten-free I'll be OK. With the amount of doctor's appointments I have here I won't be ale to go up there every week. I'm guessing he'll come home for the weekends. Yes, he is a keeper and so is my son who has changed so much this year. He's less into himself and is very supportive and sensitive.

Thank you all for your kind words. I don't know what I would have done over the past two years if I didn't have this forum and the family I've made here.

Much Love, wub.gifwub.gifwub.gifwub.gif

hm, well, I happened to be near the neighbor's yard this morning, and saw that the apples are starting to fall. It would be such a shame to let his yard get all gooey with fallen apples....

Oh I agree, you should help them out with that right away!

Oh yes. Anything less just wouldn't be neighborly.

And I happened to read on line today that pears should be picked green and allowed to ripen indoors, otherwise they get grainy, and the inside rots before the outside is ripe. The poor man has 3 pear trees right next to his apple trees. His yard will be a disaster if I don't act.

Sounds real scary... Will it be safe for me to drive in Nepean on Friday?

 Oh, dear gawd... . .. . ..I must now get accustomed to her being in this city full-time, putting any drivers on the road who are people I care about in some real danger.......

All right: make sure you do NOT turn WESTWARD off the 416 when you get off the highway -- she is just west of there, and will likely be doing Friday afternoon errands. We're just to the east....and your hotel, mercifully, is in the other direction.

YES, POeter and Jacquie will be in Ottawa this Friday! After the northeastern US......the last stop! :DB)

Does this have anything to do with wine, a couch, and a trashy novel?

Hmm, sounds like a glass alright, but not a glass of wine. Methinks the Karenmeister is learning to make glass. Very cool Karen, please show us some work when class is over.. Sounds like a lot of fun! :)

Thanks Scott. They are gluten-free but cross contaminated.

Hi there @MCAyr I have a small umbilical hernia which came about during my second pregnancy.   I can just about see it, and feel it, when I stand or sit, but it is far less noticeable when I lie down.  I always know when I am putting on weight because I can get pain and burning near the site, funnily enough not on the hernia itself but either side!  I would imagine bloating could cause the same effect as weight gain. In my case I don't think it is my bowel protruding but a bit of fat  - sorry,  I realise this isn't painting a very pretty picture.  But in truth it is scarcely noticeable.  It has never really got bigger in size. I was rather hoping that it could be operated on but here in the UK they don't seem to operate on every hernia anymore.  My GP isn't remotely worried about it. In a way, I should be thankful - it is like an early warning system that I need to go on a diet! Cristiana

The hernia description would likely be unrelated to celiac disease, but you'd need to get it checked out by your doctor to be sure it's a hernia.
