Em you crack me up all the time, but w/ slow pageloads on a phone and my somewhat new "I have things to DO" impatience w/ same, I don't do the " reply" NEARly as often as the LOLs themselves. ;)

I know exactly whatcha mean, Ptaum...so many laughs through so many pages that I'm catching up on, it drives me nuts sometimes that I can't acknowledge all of the brilliant wit on here. And you being a prime witmaster (witman? witophile?), I take your above post as a true compliment. :)

Okay, I'm going bananas....I need to know at least the essence of what the mystery Donna said in her naughty post. It must have been truly something, as it disappeared so quickly and Amanda has said that it was in such poor taste. it's killing me...What did she say??!

OMG - just overhead Ellen - something about shirtless, oiled-up cowboys - must go.......

I'm sorry to have missed that....one must see shirtless, oiled-up cowboys at least once in their lives.

Sarah congrats on hitting 500!

WOO HOO!

Where are the balloons, the confetti? What did you win??

Bev (and Amanda), I want snow too. I'm gonna get some next week! BIG storm coming Tues, Wed, and Thurs!!!!!

I am also wondering where that "Goodbye, leaving the board" post went, I was actually searching far and wide for it. But, no such luck finding it, then I realized it must have been yanked. Curiosity has killed the kitty! What happened, what was said????

Emily, I sent you a PM. I was askeert to post it here. Since it's already been jerked off once. Er... jerked off the board. REMOVED from the board. Yeah.

So, I traipsed around this evening, searching for a birthday gift for my dad. Ended up buying him an old-man type cardigan...you know, big wooden buttons, cabled. It'll make him easy to identify should he try to enter anyone's life as Richard Simmons, Fidel Castro, Hillary Clinton...just look for the old-man sweater...

Oiled-up, shirtless cowboy...could he manage something like that?....

Big Les turns 83 on Sunday!! :)

Thank you for all the congratulations on my 500th post! But what, oh what, is the secret handshake? Password? Wasn't there something of that sort???

So you found out . . . the big secret is shortly after your 500th post, you will get to clean up vomit. I'm not really sure how this works out . . . kind of like the same way all those chain emails work where they tell you that 5 minutes after you pass on the email to 38 of your closest friends, something really funny will show up on your computer.

But don't tell too many people, otherwise everyone will just stop posting when they get to 499. And from what I hear, don't plan on getting new carpet for your house until after you've reached 1000.

OMG!

It's all making sense now!

I'm nearing my 2000th post and today just discovered a most curious incident, that has NEVER happened here.

Well......pulled up Annie's dog blanket off my bed to wash, and to change my sheets. Happens usually twice a week, the sheet-changing.............I LOVE me some clean sheets. So......I gaze upon the fluffy white duvet, under her blanket, and there is a

GIANT URINE (??) STAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:o

I mean, it looks like a urine stain, and it has soaked (and dried) through to the down comforter, which is all in the wash.

But - WTH? My dog, who NEVER EVER has an accident and URGENTLY and dramatically lets me know if she needs to wee..........has wet herself and soiled her own side of the bed???????????????????? (yes, don't say it, I really do hope to find a decent man someday  )

Is there going to be some DOG VOMIT in my near future??????????????

Sheesh. How could she pee in her own bed and just lay there? Such a slovenly, slattern hag.

Oh oh OH SARAH!! I don't even want to QUOTE your saucy silliness! Saucilliness?

"REMOVED" eh?

I was sure I'd read the Toaster-Poster had said "in me" not "ON me"!!

(Jack swore he'd show up on time, or even come early, but was tardy again! The too-excitable Jill txt'd "Eek Jack u late".)

<how'd that K get in there?>

Emily - - well thank you for this warning, I will CERTAINLY be on the lookout for a shirtless, oiled cowboy w/ a Mr. Rogers cardigan.........

BTW - does anyone want to talk about the fact that the greens in Emily's avatar EXACTLY MATCH the new chic loden/sage/olive green of our new forum? :o Yeah, YOU KNOW what I'm thinking.......she is TOTALLY IN ON IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG Emily IS Scott!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And note her caption - -

"Ready, aim...." Um, a warning perhaps, of the new format's imminent launch????????????

Oh puh-leeeeeeeeeeeeeeze! At least you CAN use the QUOTE function to stack up multiple quotables! (Mine are done manually :P )

And .. . ..oh my you flatter me so. Truth is, I've been off my game since the days of Yeti Confetti poetry. Perfumed during drastic banking procedures; cleanser fumes from the crew deceptively making the old apt look like it had had responsible human inhabitants; then all the madness of moving.

I've finally today once again got a bit o' dat ole mojo woikin ag'in. <_<

Couple more days improvement and I might keep up w/ all y'all's creative silliness once AGAIN!

I'm sorry to have missed that....one must see shirtless, oiled-up cowboys at least once in their lives.

Was Brokeback oil-free?

Ferritin levels.  And see what your hemoglobin looks like too, that will tell you if you are anemic?  You can have 'low normal' levels that will not be flagged by blood tests.  I had 'low normal' levels, my lab reading was. c12, just over what was considered normal, but I had small benign lesion on my tongue, and sometimes a sore mouth, and a consultant maxillofacial ordered an iron infusion for me as he felt my levels were too low and if he  raised them to 40, it would help.   Because you are not feeling 100% it might be worth looking at your levels, then discussing with your doctor if they are low normal.  But I stress, don't supplement iron without your levels being monitored, too much is dangerous.

Hi Katht -  I sympathize with your struggles in following a gluten-free diet and lifestyle. I found out that I had Celiac Disease a few months before I turned 70. I just turned 89 and it has taken me almost 20 years to attain a fairly normal intestinal  function. I also lost a lot of weight, down to 100 lb. down from about 140 lb. What Trents wrote you was very true for me. I am still elimination foods from my diet. One person suggested you keep a food diary and that is a good idea but it is probably best just to do an elimination diet. There are several ne and maybe one for celiacs. I used one for a while and started with plain rice and zucchini and then added back other foods to see if I reacted or not. That helped a great deal but what I did not realise that it would only very small amounts of some foods to cause inflammation in my intestine. Within the last few years I have stopped eating any trace amounts of hot peppers, corn and soy(mostly in supplements) and nuts, (the corn in Tylenol was giving me stomach aches and the nuts were causing foot pains). Starting an elimination diet with white rice is better than brown rice that has some natural toxins. In addition it is very important to drink sufficient plain water. You can find out how much to drink for your height and weight online. I do have difficulty drinking 48 ounces of water but just recently have found an electrolyte supplement that helps me stay well hydrated, Adding the water and electrolytes may reduce muscle cramps and gag spams you wrote about. . Also buy some anti-gluten enzyme capsules to take with meals. I use GliadinX advertised here. These are a lot of things to do at one time as they reflect my 20 years of experience. I hope you do what you can manage to do over time. Good luck and take care.

Yes thyroid was tested.. negative  Iron ...I'm. Not sure ... Would that fall under red blood count?  If so I was ok  Thank you for the detailed response..☺️

Hi all !! Did anyone ever get prescribed methylprednisone steroids for inflammation of stomach and intestines?  Did it work ??  Thank you !!
    • cristiana
Hi Colleen Are you supplementing B12/having injections? I have learned recently that sometimes when you start addressing a B12 deficiency, it can temporarily make your symptoms worse.  But it is important not to stop the treatment.  Regarding your problems with anxiety, again that is another symptom of a B12 deficiency.   I didn't know what anxiety was until it hit me like a train several months before gastrointestinal issues began, so I can certainly relate.   Two books which helped me hugely were At Last A Life by Paul David (there is a website you can look up) and The Depression Cure: The Six-Step Programme to Beat Depression Without Drugs by Dr Steve Llardi.  Although his book is aimed at people who have depression, following the principals he sets out was so helpful in lessening my anxiety.  Llardi suggests we need to focus on getting enough: - physical exercise - omega-3 fatty acids - natural sunlight exposure - restorative sleep - social connectedness - meaningful, engaging activity   ... and we should feel a lot better. That is not to stay you must stop taking medication for depression or anxiety if you have been prescribed it, but adopting the changes Dr Llardi sets out in the book should really help. Can I just ask two more questions:  1) you say that you are B12 deficient, did they test your iron levels too?  If not, you really ought to be checked for deficiency and, 2) did they check your thyroid function, as an overactive thyroid can be cause rapid heartbeat and a lot of coeliacs have thyroid issues?
