Still.....a light salad does sound awfully....sappy? feminine?

I believe some of the populace would use the versitile gay in this situation.

Never heard of Corner Gas. Sounds view-worthy!

Where-ah is Sarah??

Two things quick.

1. Amanda- I'm sorry :( And yes, W does stand for with with a capital B. pay no mind- SHE'S obviously the one with a problem. And you know we love you!

2. OMGAWD- Remember Susie's Zombie Man? Well now Open Original Shared Link!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is scary! But note- the 3rd paragraph:

"Oh s*&t! It's Baby Man," says one cashier, a Hispanic kid who's heard the legend but has never been a witness to the spectacle. "It's like Sasquatch!" he says. "You don't believe it exists until you see it."

Is this where our yeti has gone?

What a story--he was good looking back in the day. Wow.

Well for Pete's sake! A wooden splinter--that sounds painful. :o Hopefully that was the problem and a few days on the meds will take care of it. Keep us posted.

Don't be scared because things are going so well--you deserve to be happy :)

Susie!! This sounds like good news, the discovery of a splinter in David's eye....Certanly this must be the cause of his eye problems. Question: How on earth could he have gotten a wooden splinter in his eye and not realized it?

Thanks for all the nursing encouragement, guys! It's one of only a couple careers I can see myself being happy with for the rest of my life. I first made the decision a couple years ago, and have just been waiting for the kids to get a little older (and a little healthier, truth be told.) I've been out of college since Luke was a toddler, so finally preparing to go back is VERY exciting for me!

Nurse Sarah? THAT ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!! You will be great (and hopefully surrounded by McDreamies AND McSteamies!)

An aesthetically pleasing work environment would always be a plus. ;)

And now for something completely different...

I thought I'd share a few of my boys' nicknames.

Lucas (The Engineer): Luke, Mister Man, Big Man, Smarty Pants, Boy Genius.

Ezra (The Adventurer): Ez, Little Man, The Booger (that's from his father  ,) Darth Ezra, Dr. Destructo.

I also torment my sons with ooey gooey endearments: Honey Pie, Sweetie Cake, Pumpkin Pie, Baby Doll, Lovey, and Peanut.

When they do something silly, they are: Goofball, Goober, Crazy Head, and Silly Billy.

:P

Sarah, where do we get this stuff from? Is it from the SNL skits with the Rob Schneider (Richmeister) "makin' copies" guy?

I contort my kids' (and dogs') names all the time.

But I'm currently on a Freddy kick. I call them both Freddy . . . started from "Ready, Freddy?" which progressed to "Are you Freddies ready?" to "Hey, Freddy!":lol:

Well, it's late and I should be going to bed. It's been a stressful day and I'll tell you guys later after I get through a stressful morning tomorrow . . .Howevah . . .

Susie . . . keep good thoughts! I think a splinter in the eye might cause some weirdy beardy kind of stuff. Will keep my fingers crossed that that is all it was.

Sarah . . . I can see you as a nurse. You've already got all kinds of experience with bodily fluids.

Emily . . . juggling flaming cheese toilets? really? couldn't you come up with something more imaginative than that?

Jess . . . bedhead girl, et al . . .:lol: I think we could all use some good nicknames around here. I'll start thinking about that . . .

tom . . . ROTOFL . . . :lol::lol: . . . What does it mean when I "got that" before I even read your explanation?

Amanda & Patti . . . quit rubbing it in with the Weggies . . . or you won't like the nicknames we come up with for you!!!! :jealousfaceemoticon:

Bev . . . BabyMan? That's just soooooooooooo wrong.

Nikki . . . link us to the Tatt!!!

Eeeeeeeeeeehhhhk how the hell long IS that article?????? I couldn't keep reading.

I did see that the sensationalistic fetish-obsessed weasels got an easy fact wrong, as I kuhhhh-White regrettably saw the CSI episode mentioned. It wasn't CSI:Miami, it was the original Vegas one and was chock-full o' moments.

Thanks, Amanda! I agree. The nursing shortage is bad here too, so a lot of people are going into because it's a guaranteed job. While that aspect is nice, I feel like that's not a good reason to go into nursing. <_< I feel like it takes more than 1/2 a brain and a need for a paycheck. Nurses should WANT to be nurses.

Morning, Sillies!

Don't see Amanda here, yet. Hope her day goes more smoothly than yesterday. Amanda, even though it wasn't you reduced to tears by SL (Stalkerlady), you are still having the stress of a negative, at times unhealthy work enviornment. You should not underrate yesterday's shenanigans as something that should be disregarded because you weren't made into a blubbering mess. I really admire you for gritting your teeth and suffering fools gladly....but just take care of number one--you. :)

Back to Silly.....!

Got a big playoff hockey game tonight....DD is pumped. This team is the dirtiest in the division--rare at any level for girls. They slash, hit and check (this is non-contact) with reckless abandon, and are apparently coached to do so. They also (this makes me shudder) swear at and threaten our girls when they get in our faces as they're tied up with the puck...things like " you f**kin' li'l witch...watch for me"....They're clever, as most of it is missed by the less-than-stellar refs.

DH had Sophie out in the driveway last night, showing her ways to dodge a player who is charging into her. The trick is to try and make the save at the same time, which in DH's books seems as important as avoiding injury..... Hockey dads.... <_<

All I can say is OUCH. But I hope that's the problem. My sis had scratched 2 out of 3 layers of her cornea a month ago. She has NO idea how and the doc told her one more layer and every day would have been "Talk like a Pirate Day" Hopefully the abx will take care of it.

Canker sores can definitely be frustrating, especially when you're already managing a strict gluten-free lifestyle and have been diagnosed with celiac disease for so long. While these painful mouth ulcers aren’t exclusive to celiac disease, they can be linked to nutritional deficiencies—particularly of iron, folate, or vitamin B12 (as @trents mentioned )—which are common in people with celiac, even those who are very careful with their diet. Ongoing fatigue and aches might also suggest that your body isn’t fully absorbing nutrients or that there’s some underlying inflammation. It could be helpful to get bloodwork done to check for these deficiencies, and possibly even a full...

@Dora77, You shouldn't worry about getting glutened through your skin.  You would have to touch a gluten infested doorknob and then put your hand in your mouth.   I'd be more concerned with your mom's heating up gluten bread in the oven and boiling gluten noodles.  These methods cause particles of gluten to become airborne which would then enter your nose and be swallowed, going into your digestive tract.  I have to avoid the bakery aisle at the grocery store for this reason.  An M95 mask helps. If you get nutritional deficiencies corrected, your immune system will calm down and be less reactive to gluten expose.  Vitamin D helps regulate the immune system.  Thiamine and Niacin...

I do not have evidence other than anecdotal but I am certain when I have gotten these it's the result of eating gluten (back when I did).  I don't get them now that I don't eat gluten.
    • Dora77
What really bothers me is if worrying about getting cc‘d from touching the same door knob as others touched is valid. Seems like an extremely unlikely way to get glutened but i read people saying that.    If thats true then theres realistically zero chance i dont get cc‘d in a non gluten-free household unless i Cook Everything myself and wash my hands multiple times in between and store all of my stuff separately

Welcome to the forum, @Mrs. Cedrone! Among the various causes for canker sores, are "Nutritional problems like too little vitamin B12, zinc, folic acid, or iron" https://www.webmd.com/oral-health/canker-sores Could you be deficient on something?
