I don't know what I can say about anything .. . .but it does feel like I can put something on a To-Do list besides the big "to-NOT-do" smoking.

Ptaoughmn! Superb...... :)

Quick question for you....Have you heard of/seen David Liebman? Apparently he's an uncompromising saxophonist who's playing here tonight, and I think we may head out to catch him. He's a "thoughtful acolyte" of John Coltrane, so I don't think we can go wrong. I cannot believe we're actually planning this--it's been a long time since we've heard live club music.

Hi Sillies!

I too have been feeling a lot better and much more active these days. We have Landen this weekend, last night Natalie John's sister and I took Landen and her baby Lydia for a very long walk.

Today my mom and sister came down and we did some thrift shopping which was fun, and I got some new clothes, always fun.

Just now I came back from roller-blading which I did for about 20 minutes in the 80 degree heat. Hopefully Nat and I will get on another walk later tonight as well.

This is the first summer where I feel good, work is stable and my all around attitude is great....I haven't been in such high spirits since my pre-celiac days. Life is looking up. Time to run. Landen will be here in an hour.

Bye Sillies! Take Care!

Go go GO!! (Can I come??)

It's near shameful that I don't know more about this guy, considering how much (I just learned) he's done!!

Good Sunday morning, Sillies!

Thinking of everyone....Son of Silly update, please! How are you feeling this weekend, Sarah? Is your high-octane antibiotic blasting things up for you? Bev! A better day today, I hope. What did you make Kissey and yourself for dinner last evening, Susie? No beans, of this I am certain...Now, Ptaoughmn (I cannot believe that I can continue to spell this phonetically charged nightmare version of Tom's name the same way each time), it's gotta be, what...day 50 er sumfin'? Do you have a to-do list for today? :) Oracle Peter--get ready for the heinous strikeday tomorrow...I know how downtown Toronto can be a traffic nightmare during rush hour at the best of times, so this may ease things up a bit in that way....or not(?) Se, i really dunno what in hell I'm talking about...

Amanda! Glad you're feeling spring fever. :) I am, as well. Feeling quite capable and strong like bull....must go and use this while 'tis here!

Off for a run wif my Gus....

That is truly awful, Bev :( Just thankful you are ok :)

Patti! a job! This sounds phabulous......but.........will it interfere w/ your silly time?

Not a chance :D You guys are stuck wif me!

Patti, that sounds like a wonderful job opportunity and could not be a better fit for you! Not only are the hours set up for you to ease back into the work force, but how exciting to be working in a chiropractors office, you will have much to share from your own experiences on your health journey.

I know--it's about as perfect a fit as I'm ever gonna find....I'm just so scared. I'm so grateful to have you all to run this by--ya'll really understand how this feels. I still haven't made up my mind.

Oh, man....I am so lucky. You guys with serious, multiple sensitivities....I feel for you. :( I don't feel your pain, and this is why I'm so fortunate.

Note to self: Count blessings far more regularly.....

You have your share to deal with too, Emily ;)

Hello, all my fellow sillies. It has been an interesting weekend here.

The threatened transit strike is off for now, but the word came almost two hours after the 4 o'clock deadline this afternoon. Tomorrow will be somewhat chaotic anyway, as many have made alternate plans to car pool and calling these off on short notice may not happen. The "emergency route - no parking" signs that went up on Saturday in anticipation were still up on the main drag mid-afternoon today. :)

I know that because...

We planned a weekend off. We left at 4 on Friday, not expecting to return until Monday. Didn't happen that way.

There was a problem at closing Saturday, so Jacquie and I made an unplanned trip to the store in the evening to look into a balancing issue. Not a major problem to resolve, but it messed up our evening.

This morning at 11, another call from the store. Technical problems involving credit/debit card processing. Your oracle makes another unplanned trip to the store, and spends about three hours working on the problem (which is still unresolved) and cooking up a workaround. We have two telephone circuits at the store. One is for normal voice telephone, and it is working. The other handles our DSL internet service and other data flow via dialed modem use. It is currently not working. It is in the hands of the wonderful telephone company. There is voltage on the wires, so the line is not severed, but there is no dial tone and the DSL is not working. Arrrrrrgh. Bell may have it fixed by the time we get in Monday. Or not. Or, they may want to send an on site technician to look at things.

Enough not-so-silly stuff.

While we were sitting out on the deck this afternoon, after I returned home, we noticed two rabbits in the yard next door. Our cats were diligently watching from the deck, but I don't think the bunnies knew they were there--they were just eating the grass and other plants in the yard. A red squirrel came onto the railing briefly, but made a hasty retreat when the two female cats went into "hunting" mode upon seeing the squirrel.

Tom, glad to hear you are still smokeless.

Sarah, how are you doing today?

Bev, a bummer that you are under the weather again.

I'm out for tonight. I may or may not be by in the morning, depending on whether the connection at the store is fixed. :(

Mornin' Sillies--

I'm so incredibly sore from working outside all weekend. BUT....the yard looks great--we planted some shrubs, flowers (lots of flowers :P ), started a perennial garden and painted the 2 rocking chairs on the front porch. We plan to plant 2 trees next weekend (Em--Bradford Pear Trees ;) ).

It's shaping up pretty well! B)

Morning Sillies!

Patti- you bet me here :)

Wow-what a busy weekend we had, my family was down on Saturday, yesterday we went to State College to see Nick, John's brother. Now its back to work, and Landen was with us all weekend too. Last night I went to bed at 9:45...and still have not used my sleeping pills, so tonight will make it 1 week!!!!!

I guess I should attempt to start some work today.

Talk to you all later!

Morning, Sillies!

Amanda! Your sleeping patterns are staying steady--this is terrific. Methinks this is your new status quo. :)

It is in the hands of the wonderful telephone company. Arrrrrrgh. Bell may have it fixed by the time we get in Monday. Or not. Or, they may want to send an on site technician to look at things.

AAAAArrrrrgggghhh!! The Bell Canada Behemoth rears its ugly head.....

Good luck with the big, ineffective, no-competition-so-we-don't-care cartel, Peter.

Here's hoping that, at the very least, the techie who comes to fix things is a lovely young lady.... <_<

I failed .. ..I made it 4.738, or so, days.

Next time's for good, right?

I'm so glad to hear you're getting more hypnotherapy, Ptaoughmn! Perhaps it was wishful thinking to reasonably expect you could quit after just one session. This has been a very long-term addiction, after all! Yep, bump in the road.... :)

T'is national stop snoring week here!!

Whoa! It's Gus, here. Something that puts the sub in my substandard poodle, I must say...

Methinks you could be all done your dental appointment by now, Nikki. All went well, I am sure...

Hope this gives you a little chuckle--

Oh I definitely am doing that!  I'm having a "last hurrah" leading up to the endoscopy and I am making sure to eat as much gluten as I can now.  I will say I am BLOATED but I've been this way for so many years, it's kind of my norm.  Just a couple more weeks until I have answers though, I hope!
    • Scott Adams
It’s great that you’ve scheduled a doctor’s appointment to address your symptoms, especially given your family history of autoimmune diseases, including celiac disease. Your symptoms—such as stomach pain, chronic diarrhea, nausea after gluten consumption, joint pain, and headaches—do align with common signs of celiac disease, so it’s definitely worth discussing with your doctor. To help your doctor understand your concerns clearly, consider writing down a detailed list of your symptoms, including when they started, how often they occur, and any patterns you’ve noticed (like symptoms worsening after eating gluten). Mentioning your family history of autoimmune conditions will also be helpful, as celiac disease has a genetic component. You might also ask about getting tested for celiac disease, which typically involves blood tests and possibly an endoscopy. Avoid cutting gluten out of your diet before testing, as this can affect the accuracy of the results. Hopefully, your doctor can provide clarity and guide you toward the right next steps—hang in there, and good luck with your appointment!
    • Scott Adams
Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome (CVS) is not a common symptom of celiac disease, but there can be occasional overlap—particularly in children. Celiac disease typically presents with symptoms like chronic diarrhea, abdominal pain, fatigue, and nutrient deficiencies, while CVS is marked by repeated, intense vomiting episodes separated by periods of normal health. In rare cases, undiagnosed celiac disease can cause recurrent vomiting that mimics CVS, and symptoms may resolve on a gluten-free diet. Because of this, celiac disease should be ruled out in anyone diagnosed with CVS, especially if there are other gastrointestinal or nutritional concerns. However, vomiting alone is more often related to other conditions such as migraines or autonomic dysfunction.
    • Scott Adams
First, be sure to eat tons of gluten in the two weeks leading up to the endoscopy--like 4 slices of wheat bread a day. Talk to your doctor about when to go gluten-free, but normally you can do so after all tests are done.
    • trents
Be aware that putting your child on a gluten free diet ahead of an official celiac diagnosis will invalidate any attempt to arrive at an official diagnosis. If at some point in time after commencing a gluten free diet you wish to have your child tested for celiac disease, he/she would need to go back to eating normal amounts of gluten for weeks/months leading up to the testing date. And it is often the case that once gluten has been withdrawn for a significant amount of time, the reactions are much stronger when going back on it.
