I'm officially snowed in. The road in front of my house got a light dusting of sand this morning that did nothing to decrease the slipperiness.

I'm now regretting not shopping last weekend...

Well.....quite a sight out in the ho' tub.....DD brought five of her 14-year old girlfriends home from school after lunch, and they're in there celebrating the start of holidays.....screeching wif laughter, splashing each other, blowing snow whipping around them, mixing with the steam, and they appear to be wearing their winter hats. .. . ....

Ahhhhh. . .. .to be young again.. . . .......

POeter! Are you building massive snow families in front of the store?

Judyin Philly Enthusiast
Well, didn't have to take Dad in - -he is better...... . .but some strange, abdominal pain that comes and goes, so he will have to see his doctor, hopefully Monday. There's a history of kidney AND gall stones (and undiagnosed celiac, I am certain), so for now, he's resting on Tylenol. Things are okay right now. :) Thanks so much for the words of concern!

I freeze a LOT of extra meals, too. DH takes leftovers to work, as do the kids to school, so you can imagine the size of the lasagna pans/casserole dishes/roasts/crock pots I fill!! Have you got a decent-sized freezer, Ptaoughmghmnuss?

Em .......whew what a relief.....Glad Dad's doing better!

Tom.......I freeze any left overs.......eg......spag sause with meat, spag noodles, add some beef broth and make some soup out of it.......Freeze alot...........I'm sorry your not doing well. Hugs to you

Just a quick fly-by to say that it is snowing big time here in Toronto, with about 8 inches expected in all. It started after the morning commute, but has been coming down steadily since. It looks like there is at least 6 inches so far. The parking lot has been shoveled three times, and needs it again.

Drive Safely Peter and Jacquie..........and stay warm

hi all

so gloomy here today. Just getting on line today

love you all

Hi, Judy!

I have something veeeeerrrrrrrryyyyyy BIG to tell you all:

Took Jack to yet another follow-up at the paediatrician this aft re. his chronically stuffy nose. The meds he is on are working well (but we STILL do not know the cause  ....just keep treating the symptoms).....So this wonderful doc was going over the CT scan we had done of Jack's head, and she mentioned his sinuses. They are "clear and unaffected". Jack asked her exactly what the sinuses are and what they do, and she replied that they are air-filled cavities found in a number of places in one's body.

She then told us that we have sinuses in our anal canal.

Sinuses in our anuses! ....Sinii in our anii.......

Who'd a thunk???

Do they get infected? Do they need irrigating? Can one purchase an anal rinse?? Like a li'l netti pot, only fer your bum??

:lol::rolleyes:

What an interesting piece of news! Anal sinuses--who knew? :P

I think I told you this before, Em, (maybe not, so I'll bore you all wif it again  ) I have had the same type issues as Jack fer years--have had 2 CT scans (both normal, save fer the one short sinus....phorget which one). All they do is treat the symptoms--antihistimines and steroid sprays......was also diagnosed wif TMJ disfunction by me last ENT--said it twas a classic case. That can cause sinus symptoms, neck and head pain and other stuff. Just FYI ;)

Also interesting is that antihistimines always seemed to help my GI issues before I was diagnosed--never understood why, though

I remember you telling us about yer nose/sinus history when we met up in Philly, Patti - -and so does Jack. He was wondering (true!) if your nose doctor ever told you that you also have sinuses in your anus.

:o

And, I replied that I doubted it. . . . ..

Good to hear Dad's better now, Em.

Ptaoughmghmn! Have you tried melatonin before? It has worked very well for me - - . . no side effects, takes effect quickly. . . ..

Yup, but quite a few yrs ago. Worked great & I *did* buy some today - after working 'til ~10:30p last night then being up 'til ~4.

Probably will try tonight.

I make ahead and freeze a lot of what I eat for dinners, otherwise it is too overwhelming to cook every night, dunno if this would be an option for you?

Shhhhheeeeeeeeyit it was too often everwhelming even before I started working again.. ..

I'd love to do casseroles or crockpots but I think I'm too alphabet-free for much of that. I've looked for recipes, incl at that 365 days of crocktease site, but it seems there's always some critical ingred I can't have.

No tomatoes (tho certain organics don't make me dizzy), potatoes, corn etc etc . .....

Maybe I should retest potatoes - I've heard red ones are best to start.

AHA! :lightbulboverheadface:  The topic DOES remind me of a White Chicken Chili recipe on ATK that excited me w/ its allowedness.

I should recheck how much work is involved & how long it'd take me.

I do usually make extra & freeze when possible. Thought I was making 4 main courses Tues, w/ 4 chkn breasts. Then ate 2 that night & 2 Wed.

I know I need to do a lot more made-in-advance dinners. Having trouble coming to terms w/ what to make & when to make it. I don't think my broiled salmon freezes well.

Maybe I need to plan a Cooking Day & not work & just see how much I can do.

What an interesting piece of news! Anal sinuses--who knew? :P

This sounds indicative of cranial-rectal insertion syndrome.

P.S. I now see my car stereo's AUX input & pronounce it "oh".

Boy Tom i hear you one the first part. I find i can't have so many of the things that go into the crockpot

one thing i do is put a pot roast with gluten-free beef broth and onions in the crock pot.

use the beef for many dishes during the week.

I love the white chili with the northern white beans. The recipe is or was on the side of the can

you could do that in the crock pot i bet.

good luck.......hope your sleeping.

Y'all are overthinking this. Throw whatever vegetation you can eat into the pot, add some dead animal flesh, sprinkle with dried flavorings, and push go.

If you want it thinner, cut smaller peices and add some broth. If you want it thicker, throw in some quinoa or dried mushrooms.

Mornin' Psillies!

POeter! How much snow currently? We're not getting socked until tomorrow.

Goodness....an awful lot of weather we're having lately. . . . . .

:huh::lol:

I'm using the crockpot for dins tonight - - throwin' in sliced potatoes, zucchinni and peppers, then a pot roast wrapped in foil. Easy-peezee, lemon-squeezee!!

Mmmmm . . . sounds yummy when you put it like that, Jess!!:lol:

Made a wonderful soup last night . . . just winged it . . . turned out great and hubby thought so, too but said . . . "too bad we can't have that again because you don't know what you did." . . . . . . so I wrote down my ingredients, I'll get pretty close . . . Children turned their noses up at it, of course.

My mouth is watering

Tis true, though. I almost always start wif a mixture of sliced potatoes, onion, carrots, celery and a clove of sliced garlic. I mix it all up and top wif a hunk of beef or pork. Works every time and there's always a ton of leftovers. Come to think of it. you could do it sans meat, add beans or whatever. Let yer imagination run away wif ya!

Seriously (yeah, right :P ) no, really.....I don't think you can go wrong wif the crockpot--just throw in what you can tolerate wif a quarter cup of water and 8 hours later, it's dinner. :D Tis darn (sorry Jan-it) near phoolproof. B)

It is hard to be sure due to extensive drifting, but somewhere between six and eight inches (15-20 cm). Today is sunny and cold. Another storm will arrive this evening, with another 15 to 20 cm accumulating through Sunday.

No....we had CNN on most of the evening in the background. Did you watch it?

happygirl Collaborator

Of course! We only caught the last hour, but it was perfect background to wrapping presents. (and making the Elf video!)

"Conclusions: The urinary iodine level was significantly lower in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis, and iodine replacement may be important in preventing osteoporosis"  Body iodine status in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis Low iodine can cause thyroid problems, but Iodine deficiency will not show up in thyroid tests.  Iodine is important for healing, its job is to kill off defective and aging cells (Apoptosis). Skin, brain fog, nails, muscle tone all inproved when I started taking 600 mcg (RDA 150 - 1000 mcg) of Liquid Iodine drops. Some with dermatitis herpetiformis, Iodine exacerbates the rash.  I started at 1 drop (50 mcg) and worked up to 12 drops, but I don't have dermatitis herpetiformis.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and I found myself giggling with happiness as I read how your body reached such spring! And I hope that your current journey is also successful!! Definitely starting the food diary! So many amazing advices. And it’s very scary. It really hits all our soft spots as well as our confidence system. Most doctors I went thought I was underage despite being in my late 20s. Right now I look like am I twelve, but is also this body that’s taking so much, so I might as well love it too! Going to make the necessary changes and stay in this path. Thank you again! 🫶

Thank you so much for the information and kind message! Reading this transformed how I’ve been viewing my efforts and progress. Guess there’s still a lot to celebrate and also heal 😌  Yes, I’ve been taking it! Just recently started taking a multivitamin supplement and separated vitamin D! I also took chewable Iron polymaltose for ferritin deficiency 2 months ago but was unable to absorb any of it.  Thank you again! Hearing such gentle words from the community makes my body and heart more patient and excited for the future.
