The Amish do not take out health insurance and the families of the children who were injured are affected the most.

There are websites and info for us "outsiders/English" if we are interested in their dilema and want to help them. Please PM me if you would like this information. I'd post it here but I don't want anyone to construe this as an "Advertisement" or an inappropriate message.

IMO, post the information, it would not be a violation of the rules unless you were the owner of the web site.

Yes Deb--I think it's a lovely thought.

I live in the area, so I saw the information on the news this morning. The costs will be staggering ....

Hey, Patti, where exactly did it happen? I know it was really close to home here, but I can't find much info on where it was. You're talking about the shooting, right? Does anyone know if that guy went to Solanco High School? I wanna ask my sister in law if she went to school with him. She was about his age.

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
