Yeah, Amanda, I definitely didn't like Blake's hair color either. He looks SOOOOO much better with the blonde hair.

Did anyone else think that Ford commercial last night was weird? I thought it was right up Blake's alley though. Also, LaKisha looked awesome with the red streaks in her hair. Too bad she didn't keep them in after shooting the commercial. I thought they really made her look kind of sexy and current.

I think Lakiesha should be in movies after AI. She is funny, has a dead pan sense of humor and a great look. I would rather see her than listen to her sing... She sings ok, but I like her more than I like her singing. I am glad blake changed his hair. I think he is too plain looking with the blonde hair. He needs to shake things up. Too many men who are stars never invest in their looks. WOmen have to constantly change hair styles, update trends in style. It is nice to see a male performer who feels the need to shake things up. I like to see a man work as hard as a woman!

I'm a fan of Blake's and I think he might be going home tomorrow. I hope he has enough fans to keep him in. Jordin as usual was great. I hope she goes to the finals.

I really like Jordin! She has this positive energy that just seems to surround her, she makes you want to watch her.

Hubby thinks LaKisha will be going home tonight. I'd be happy if he were right, she bores me to tears. I just tune out when she's singing. She chooses the most boring songs. Ugh... I hope that Blake stays. I really enjoy his music. It's really exciting for me to hear what he's going to do. He's so talented. I really wish he would change his hair back though. He just doesn't have the same effect on me with the brown hair.

I didnt like last night show very much. None of them did an awesome job. I actually hope melinda goes home, i would be so happy. Yes she can sing, but that is all she can do, she cant dance, she cant perform and she cant make me want to buy anything she produces.

I think jordins first song was awesome. I would like for her to win, but im not sure she will. But i do think she will get an record deal no matter what.

I love blake, i like he is original, his songs werent awesome last night, but i still love him, I voted for an hour straight for him last night lol.

I like lakisha, i really dont want her to go home.

I think i will be sad no matter who goes home, unless it is melinda but i doubt that will happen

I wasn't too impressed with the performances last night...or I should say the songs...I actually didn't WATCH the performances much because I wanted to just hear the songs without any other distractions. I have to honestly say that I don't think I would have bought any of them except for maybe Jordin's first song. That was awesome.

I also really don't like Blake's dark hair...he almost reminded me of peewee herman last night. :P I still really like him though. I do think that he should not do his thing on every single song. That was one of the things I was listening too last night...couldn't imagine buying a C.D where every single song had that on it.

I also think (boy, I'm full of opinions today  -- just ignore me  ) Paula should shorten her comments--the more she talks the more it doesn't make sense sometimes. :P But, I still love her. ;)

Phew, where did all that come from

Blake is the only reason I'm watching the show, so I really hope he doesn't go home. I hope it's Lakisha. I'm not a big fan of Melinda but at least she's not boring every time. Not once has Lakisha sung and I was interested. Some of it's song choice, but a lot of it is delivery. I doubt Blake can win, so I hope it's Jordin.

I know what you mean, the blonde hair looked great....now he blends in.

OMG, you are SOOOOOOOOOOOOO right!!! Too bad because he's such a cutie with the blonde hair!

I don't know what it is but Blake has lost my interest. I differently think his hair color makes him look plain and just dull looking. He wasn't great at his first song but I thought he could of easily won over the judges with his second but he choose a song that nobody ever heard of and I always think that's a risk. That set him up for the b-box criticism.

Lakisha is my choice to get the boot tonight. She been hanging on by a thread,...time to take the scissors to it.

Melinda's always good but that's can be boring too, she's to predictable. I like her yet I don't think she'll be a big hit with record sales. She doesn't have that youthfulness about her. She looks like a well preserved 35 year old and isn't that what we got last year with Taylor Hicks. :( I just realized how mean that sounded....sorry.

So my vote goes to Jordin to win now. I always loved her and her first song was great. She was off pitch with the second song but I think she is so young that she probably hasn't heard it that many times. I really think it's between her and Dolittle.

I didn't care for the BeeGees then or now, lol. Not my favorite night of songs at all.

I thought that Jordin did the best, and she'll be who I root for to win. I agree that it's LaKisha's turn to go home tonight.

Is Taylor Hicks even around anymore? I couldn't stand him last season. I haven't heard any of his stuff on the radio or TV or anything. Granted, he probably doesn't do any of the kinds of music that I like...

Yep, a little bit of hair grease and he would have been the spittin image.

Taylor Hicks annoys me, he looks too old for what he really is. I cannot stand to look at him.

I really liked the second song also. I hadn't heard it before either, but I thought it was really good, very modern. I was shocked that the judges didn't praise him.

I am so glad that I'm not the only one that feels that strongly about Taylor Hicks. He is the embodiment of nails down a chalk board, grinding teeth, metal on metal...

Angie you are funny!

Jo.R Contributor

Hicks drove me nuts! Always acting like Ray Charles, it was insulting. Charles did what he did because he was blind, it was just wrong to watch a man who can see do it. My kids admire me, but they don't sit on the pot pretending their poop is toxic.

Bye Lakisha.

Now it is Blake and the two girls.

I have a reason to watch next week, yeah!

I am glad Jordin is still in the competition, she is very talented and she has a great look. She always has outfits on that compliment her personality as well. John says he likes her hair better when it is curly and for awhile I agreed but last night she had it straight and then curled at the ends and it had some bounce and looked great.

Cheri A Contributor

You guys are funny about Taylor Hicks... He wasn't my favorite last time either!

I'm glad that it was LaKisha to go home last night.

Do you all think that they pick their clothes or someone does it for them? I just thought that most every week her outfits were awful. Someone with as big as chest as she has should NOT be wearing the things she wore!

confused Community Regular

I was sad to see lakisha go home, but i figured no way they were going to let an single mom win again. I think they want a new type of person every year. I hope it will be blake this yr, but i have an feeling it will be a girl, and how i pray its not melinda, i will not buy her music if she does.

I liked taylor hicks, just liked i like rueben, but i dont hear much about wither one of them and its kind of depressing. All i ever hear of is carrie and kelly.

paula

I seen ellen the other day, and phil and chris were on, Phil said he might not tour this summer cause of the navy, which i think is sad. I know i was upset when josh gracin didnt tour either.

Guhlia Rising Star

For those of you who watched previous years...

Who were your favorites?

Who were the guys/girls that you just couldn't stand?

I have osteopenia and have cracked three vertebrae.  Niacin is connected to osteoporosis! Do talk to your nutritionist and doctor about supplementing with B vitamins.  Blood tests don't reveal the amount of vitamins stored inside cells.  The blood is a transportation system and can reflect vitamins absorbed from food eaten in the previous twenty-four to forty-eight hours.  Those "normal limits" are based on minimum amounts required to prevent disease, not levels for optimal health.   Keep us posted on your progress.   B Vitamins: Functions and Uses in Medicine https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9662251/ Association of dietary niacin intake with osteoporosis in the postmenopausal women in the US: NHANES 2007–2018 https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11835798/ Clinical trial: B vitamins improve health in patients with coeliac disease living on a gluten-free diet https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19154566/   Nutritional Imbalances in Adult Celiac Patients Following a Gluten-Free Diet https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8398893/ Nutritional Consequences of Celiac Disease and Gluten-Free Diet https://www.mdpi.com/2036-7422/15/4/61 Simplifying the B Complex: How Vitamins B6 and B9 Modulate One Carbon Metabolism in Cancer and Beyond https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9609401/

Thank you so much for the clarification! Yes to these questions: Have you consulted dietician?  Have you been checked for nutritional deficiencies?  Osteoporosis? Thyroid? Anemia?  Do you take any supplements, or vitamins? I’m within healthy range for nutritional tests, thyroid and am not anemic. I do have osteopenia. I don’t take any medications, and the dietician was actually a nutritionist (not sure if that is the same thing) recommended by my physician at the time to better understand gluten free eating.    I almost wish the gluten exposure had triggered something, so at least I’d know what’s going on. So confusing!    Many thanks!

@JudyLou,  I have dermatitis herpetiformis, too!  And...big drum roll... Niacin improves dermatitis herpetiformis!   Niacin is very important to skin health and intestinal health.   You're correct.  dermatitis herpetiformis usually occurs on extensor muscles, but dermatitis herpetiformis is also pressure sensitive, so blisters can form where clothing puts pressure on the skin. Elastic waist bands, bulky seams on clothing, watch bands, hats.  Rolled up sleeves or my purse hanging on my arm would make me break out on the insides of my elbows.  I have had a blister on my finger where my pen rested as I write.  Foods high in Iodine can cause an outbreak and exacerbate dermatitis herpetiformis. You've been on the gluten free diet for a long time.  Our gluten free diet can be low in vitamins and minerals, especially if processed gluten free foods are consumed.  Those aren't fortified with vitamins like gluten containing products are.  Have you consulted dietician?  Have you been checked for nutritional deficiencies?  Osteoporosis? Thyroid? Anemia?  Do you take any supplements, medicine, or vitamins? Niacin deficiency is connected to anemia.  Anemia can cause false negatives on tTg IgA tests.  A person can be on that borderline where symptoms wax and wane for years, surviving, but not thriving.  We have a higher metabolic need for more nutrients when we're sick or emotionally stressed which can deplete the small amount of vitamins we can store in our bodies and symptoms reappear.   Exposure to gluten (and casein in those sensitive to it) can cause an increased immune response and inflammation for months afterwards. The immune cells that make tTg IgA antibodies which are triggered today are going to live for about two years. During that time, inflammation is heightened.  Those immune cells only replicate when triggered.  If those immune cells don't get triggered again for about two years, they die without leaving any descendents programmed to trigger on gluten and casein.  The immune system forgets gluten and casein need to be attacked.  The Celiac genes turn off.  This is remission.    Some people in remission report being able to consume gluten again without consequence.   However, another triggering event can turn the Celiac genes on again.   Celiac genes are turned on by a triggering event (physical or emotional stress).  There's some evidence that thiamine insufficiency contributes to the turning on of autoimmune genes.  There is an increased biological need for thiamine when we are physically or emotionally stressed.  Thiamine cannot be stored for more than twenty-one days and may be depleted in as little as three during physical and emotional stresses. Mitochondria without sufficient thiamine become damaged and don't function properly.  This gets relayed to the genes and autoimmune disease genes turn on.  Thiamine and other B vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients are needed to replace the dysfunctional mitochondria and repair the damage to the body.   I recommend getting checked for vitamin and mineral deficiencies.  More than just Vitamin D and B12.  A gluten challenge would definitely be a stressor capable of precipitating further vitamin deficiencies and health consequences.   Best wishes!

And I agree with Wheatwacked. When a physician tells you that you can't have celiac disease because you're not losing weight, you can be certain that doctor is operating on a dated understanding of celiac disease. I assume you are in the UK by the way you spelled "coeliac". So, I'm not sure what your options are when it comes to healthcare, but I might suggest you look for another physician who is more up to date in this area and is willing to work with you to get an accurate diagnosis. If, in fact, you do not have celiac disease but you know that gluten causes you problems, you might have NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity). There is no test available yet for NCGS. Celiac must first be ruled out. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder that damages the lining of the small bowel. NCGS we is not autoimmune and we know less about it's true nature. But we do know it is considerably more common than celiac disease.
