Has anyone else reacted to Amy's Rice Pizza? I had one last night and it was so good. I added veggies and a little more sauce and thought I was in heaven. Then I sat down to watch Survivor and the @$#% hit the fan. What a nasty reaction! I wonder if it is because they make regular pizzas in the same facility or if it was a reaction to the soy or cheese they use?

I've never seen anything except the Plain Cheese Rice pizza from Amy's. I know that one is good. Can you check the box again and call the company?

Terri-

You might want to check on that extra sauce you added. It could have been gluten containing. I eat Amy's all the time and haven't had any trouble with the rice crust pizza. Just a thought!

I had a nasty reaction to what I thought was a safe sauce. I would check and make sure it is on the "safe" list. Amys is good, I ate the whole thing by myself!

I added Ragu pizza sauce, trader joe's roasted peppers (on their gluten free list) and fresh onions and hormel turkey pepperoni (says gluten-free on the package). It was so good and I got so bummed... Maybe it was the cheese or soy reacting on me and not gluten...

I haven't had hers - I may have mispoken on the brand in the past - but have had no problems with Nature's Highlights rice crust, to which I add my own sauce and toppings.

i had amy's pizza last night. and added pesto and olives!! i had no reaction at all.

could it have been a delayed reaction of something else you ate earlier in the day? I dont think it would be the cheese, my doctor said even lacto intolerent people can usually eat cheese and yogurt .

Natures Highlights pizza crusts have been fine with me. I've never reacted to them. My problem is cooking them on the oven rack and then getting them off. I keep spilling sauce all over the oven. Any advice? Can I put it on a stone or cookie sheet? I bought some Chebe pizza crust mix today so I will try that next. I made a quiche with cooked rice mixed with egg whites for the crust and it was delicious. I'm thinking that would be a good pizza and I did like Angel's hash brown pizza crust a lot too. I'll keep at it.

Definitely always cook pizza's on a baking stone! :-) You can get a set that has a stone and a paddle together.

What Soy? There is no soy in the gluten-free Rice Cheese pizza by Amy's. She does make a soy cheese pizza, but the crust is not rice/gluten-free it's a regular pizza crust with soy cheese.

I think the box listed soy or soybeans as an ingredient. I threw the box away though. Today I bought a pizza stone and am going to try the Chebe pizza mix this weekend. Wish me luck!

Don't forget to cycle the pizza stone in your oven (without anything on it) first... I think most of the commercial stones (if you didn't just get a big block from the hardware store) have that instruction on them, but you're supposed to put them in a cold oven, turn it up to 450F or something like that, and leave it in for an hour, as I recall...

Thanks! Mine didn't come with that instruction. It said to heat it for fifteen minutes before putting the pizza on it. So I will bake it an hour first, like you said, then make the pizza. :D

Is Amy's pretty good? I have tried several pizza crusts now and they all have this sweet taste to them that I loathe... help me, I am about ready to eat Tombstone... having a lot of trouble lately, really miss pizza and sandwiches.... :(

My son was missing these little pizza rollups we used to eat (made with pillsbury crescent rolls) so we invented a new kind that are actually very easy and good -- we use _pie crust_ (Miss Roben's), cut it into big squares and make pizza turnovers. (I suppose they are calzones, really) If you roll the dough between plastic, and then use the plastic to fold them up, it's not too tricky. They freeze well, and nuke well too! We were so proud

      Hello, good afternoon!   I apologize, I didn’t see a notification and I’m just reading this. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and the link. Yes you are absolutely right, even so trying to get a response from them has been extremely difficult. They don’t answer but I will your practice of “guilty until proven innocent.”   I like and have a sense of trust here in this website, everyone is honest and thoughts are raw. The mutual understanding is amazing!   thank you Scott!

      That and my nutritionist also said that drinking cider is one of the worst drink choices for me, given that I have candida overgrowth.  She said the combination of the alcohol and sugar would be very likely to worsen my candida problem.  She suggested that if I drink, I go for clear vodka, either neat or with a splash of cranberry.   So in summary, I am giving ciders a rest.  Whether it's a gluten risk or sugars and yeast overgrowth, its just not worth it.

      While plain, pure tea leaves (black, green, or white) are naturally gluten-free, the issue often lies not with the tea itself but with other ingredients or processing. Many flavored teas use barley malt or other gluten-containing grains as a flavoring agent, which would be clearly listed on the ingredient label. Cross-contamination is another possibility, either in the facility where the tea is processed or, surprisingly, from the tea bag material itself—some tea bags are sealed with a wheat-based glue. Furthermore, it's important to consider that your reaction could be to other substances in tea, such as high levels of tannins, which can be hard on the stomach, or to natural histamines or other compounds that can cause a non-celiac immune response. The best way to investigate is to carefully read labels for hidden ingredients, try switching to a certified gluten-free tea brand that uses whole leaf or pyramid-style bags, and see if the reaction persists.
