Is Tylenol gluten-free?

My throat is killing me today and I think I might be getting a cold. Is Tylenol gluten-free? If it isn't, are there any brands that are gluten-free?

Thanks!

Most tylenol products are gluten-free.

Here's a really good resource/link for both OTC and prescription meds:

When you go to this page, they have a link to an alphabetically listing about halfway down the page.

thanks! i had the worst sore throat last night and the tylenol helped a ton!

Thanks for the link John, I never even considered OTC and perscription drugs to pose a problem...oh there is so much to learn!

I'm newly diagnosed and didn't even realize that some medicines had Gluton. Is there a list somewhere that has medicine I can't use. The list of Gluton Free is very long.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, that list would probably be even longer. Gluten will hide in a number of unsuspecting places, and in products you would never even imagine.

My best advice is suspect everything and read every label. Carry a cell phone to the store to call the manufacturer's while you are looking at the product if you have ANY doubt. I know it seems like a pain, but it beats the alternative. Plus you get to have some really cool conversations with customer service reps B)

John--was just noticing your signature--you seem to be very well versed in this considering you were just diagnosed! You're a very good resource for the rest of us. :)

Also, just curious what your colonoscopy showed. You say it was positive--for what? I have lymphocytic colitis that I believe is the large intestine version of celiac. I know celiac is defined as damage to the small intestine, but I think that gluten can attack either...if the damage is to the small intestine, it's celiac disease, if it's to the large intestine, it's LC. What do you think?

My colonoscopy turned up two polyps that tested to be benign( Thank God), and showed some minor inflamation that the doctor thought might be ulcerative colitis. Just saw my GI yesterday and he's not to concerned about the inflamation, being that the polyps were benign and being gluten free has already helped things out down there. He said things look good and unless I regress, he probably won't look again for another couple years at least.

I'm very inquisitive by nature, so I've spent all my time since being dx'd reading and learning all I can about celiacs and related conditions. Of course, it helps that I have a job that affords me the chance to surf the web all day for info B)

I just try to share what I can when it's relevant. I know how overwhelming this can be, thankfully I'm blessed with an awesome support network in family and friends. I know some people don't have that and feel very alone, and this forum is the only place they feel understood and trust.

As far as small intestine damage=celiacs, large intestine damage= LC, that's pretty much the way I understand it. Although the type and amount of large intestine damage can also be other types of colitis or other inflamation causing afflictions.

Thanks, hope you have a great day, now off to update my sig. ;)

Dear Everyone,

A word of caution on the Tylenol. The plain ones are okay. Watch out for the Rapid Release! They are not gluten free! Many people might assume all are safe. They are not!

Sincerely,

NoGluGirl

P.S. If anyone gets terrible sinus headaches, I have been taking the Member's Mark brand from Sam's Wholesale Club. They encourage you to call each time you get new ones. So far, they have really helped.

I have also learned that Tylenol can reek havoc on your liver if you over use. And not a good choice for those who drink libations.

Absolutely my point with Kerrigan, the owner. She stood to secure many years of faithful patronage by simply inviting us in for a pastry or lunch. Or by simply producing another $50 e-card based on trust. We would have been highly satisfied. We are limited to a few restaurants in the area, and that would have been one. It was very disappointing, esp to my wife, to realize we can't patronize the place anymore.

You would think any business would see the wisdom of honoring a $50 gift certificate on the basis of customer satisfaction alone, apart from any questions about software glitches.

So there was no physical, plastic card involved, correct?

When my wife attempted to open the online card in the store with a cashier, it would not work. We then showed the owner the link to the card, the online receipt that I got upon purchase, and even my bank statement confirming the purchase. That did not satisfy her, since she said she needed the link to open to reveal the gift ID num. They even admitted they had a systems problem around that time.
