So, for anyone that knows me, im doing good my new job is going great and i have been clean for a while now and im not planning on changing that (its not worth loosing my job to have some stupid fun in my spare time since my new job does ua and i already got a warning) so i finally crossed that bridge and its definatly a correct step for once. anyways i desided that tonight will be taco night but i am well very bad in the kitchen to say the least. I was originaly going to make my own spice but i just dont have the time nor the patientce to try to make something correctly. So i went thru the seasoning isle at my local foodmart and read packages until i found one that does not have any obviuse ingrediants and does not say it has wheat but i wanna check because from what i have heard all seasonings have wheat as a declumping agent. Old El Paso taco seasoning: ingridents maltrodextrin, salt, chilipepper, onionpowder, spice, monosoduim glutamate, cornstartch, yellow corn flower, partially hydrogenerated soybean oil, silicion dioxide, natural flavorings and ethoxyquin. as far as i can tell its safe, its a General Mill Cereal product though.... i just realised that... so i have no clue if i should trust it

and then from what i have read whine, is A. the easyes on the stomich when it comes to alchohal, and B. is always gluten free?? is this true? i picked up a bottle of Arbor Mist cranberry twist to go with my tacos and because i still have not drank since turning 21 and im almost 22 and i really just want to get a small buzz for once. only problem is damn whine does not have ingrediant lists, well this one does though thats the reason i got it, white merlof, water, corn syrup, natural flavings and blah blah blah but nothing that i would think would be wheat?? i know im a pain in the arse with all my million questions its just even after a year of beeing here i keep finding myself making stupid newbie mistakes and im sick of it lol

Here is a little help for you. But may be to late as you have already eaten I am sure. But you can use it next time. We use McCormick taco seasoning. It is good stuff. As for the wine I am not able to help you on that one. But keep asking questions it is how we all learn.

Good luck,

I use McCormick taco seasoning also. McCormick will label anything in plain english.

Wine - I know that wine can have gluten, but I've never been glutened by wine (I better knock on wood quick though...) We get Charles Shaw wine from Trader Joe's a.k.a. Two-Buck-Chuck, sometimes, and I've never had a problem. It's surprisingly good, especially for the price.

Wine coolers, which is what I consider Arbor Mist to be, can be problematic. A lot of them tend to be "malt beverages" so you have to be more careful about those. However, according to their website, Open Original Shared Link , their wines are all gluten-free. I might have to try them.

Don't worry about making mistakes. We all do.

I'm glad to hear you're doing well.

yeah the wine seems to be fine, i acually got piss drunk for the first time since turning 21 and i think someone may have already said this but the wine acually seems to have helped my stomich, after sipping on it for a few minutes all my normal pains/wierd feelings went away and after 2 bottles of wine my stomich feels great and i felt great, well up until my night was ruined (xgirl that i "was" still friends with came over to hang out and desided to come in my house and disrespect me in more then one way) did not use the taco seasoning acually opened the wine before i made dinner and never got around to making dinner just grabbed some easy food. but as for the arbor mist yeah seems to be fine no problems and its acually pretty tasty

ok i got a email response from general mills about the Old El Paso taco seasoning but its a generic response. "we list the top 8 allergins strait on the package if anything was hidden in natural or artifical flavorings it would still list wheat on the package" so i guess acording to them its gluten-free? sorry i just have a hard time trusting seasoning it took me almost a year to start using salt and pepper again because i did not know where it could possibly have came from. oh and a lil unrelated anyone know a good hangover cure?? after my friend got off work he could tell i was upset so we went and got more wine ugh.....

I hate responses like that! Barley and rye are not in the top eight allergens! It's like they are avoiding the real question. So if barley was in the natural flavors would they list it? I got a similar response from Con Agra. Taco Bell brand is made by Kraft. I know that they will list gluten in addition to the top eight allergens, so I use their products.

We use Old El Paso taco seasoning and have not had problems - and Kathryn is very sensitive to traces of gluten.

I think it might be the combination - I have found if I drink wine and a spicy food - oh man I get what is affectionately refered to as pepper farts! Burning butt when passing gas or stool. I only get it if I combine the two. I also found I cannot combine chili and then have ice cream for dessert - I burp all night long and then pass gas the next day. I dont get the same problem if I eat each item at a different time.

I eat gluten free along with the kids as I am sure I am gluten intolerant / both kids are confirmed celiacs.

Just a thought that it might be the combination of foods that gives you grief.

We use Ortega Taco Seasoning with no issues.

Nice to know that the Arbor Mist is gluten-free. :)

great its awsome to hear someone else uses old el paso, been holding off on cooking the tacos, i love old el paso or atleast i did when i was younger, cant wait to cook up those tacos now. yeah not gonna have wine with em lol.. had fun that one night but i think im gonna avoid alchohal for a few weeks after geeten drunk on saturday for the first time in over a year, dont wanna drink to many days close to eachother since alchohlism is a family thing and i dont wanna steer down that road, but i do have to say i like wine, was my first time drinking it and it was mighty tasty... as for the ortega, ummm i looked at the package of oretga taco seasoning and it says in big black leaters contains wheat flour

Are you sure? I have a package right in front of me and mine doesn't say that. We also have the bulk container and it looks to be free of wheat/gluten as well. Wonder if you got a new or an old package?

So I've been dealing with chasing the name celiac because of my body actively dealing with health issues related to celiac though not eating. Diagnosed in 1994 before foods eliminated from diet. After 25 years with former pcp I googled celiac specialist and she wasn't because of what ive been through. I wanted my results to be sent to my pcp but nothing was sent.I have email copies.I did one zoom call with np with team member from celiac specialist in Nov 2025 and she asked me why I wanted to know why I wanted the celiac diagnosis so bad, I sad I don't, its my life and I need revalidaion because its affecting me.KB stated well it shows you are.I asked then why am I going through all this.I was labeled unruly. Its been a celiac circus and medical has caused anxiety and depression no fault to my own other than being born with bad genetics. How is it legal for medical professionals to gaslight patients that are with an ailment coming for help to be downplayed? KB put in my records that she personally spent 120min with me and I think the zoom call was discussing celiac 80 min ONE ZOOM call.SHE is responsible for not explaining to my pcp about celiac disease am I right?

I've noticed with my age and menopause my smell for bread gives me severe migraines and I know this. Its alarming that there are all these fabulous bakeries, sandwich places pizza places popping up in confined areas.Just the other day I suffered a migraine after I got done with my mri when a guy with a brown paper bag walk in front of me and I smelled that fresh dough bread with tuna, I got a migraine when we got home.I hate im that sensitive. Its alarming these places are popping up in airports as well.I just saw on the news that the airport ( can't remember which  one)was going to have a fabulous smelling bakery. Not for sensitive celiacs, this can alter their health during their travel which isn't safe. More awareness really NEEDS to be promoted, so much more than just a food consumption!FYI I did write to Stanislaus to let them know my thoughts on the medical field not knowing much about celiac and how it affects one.I also did message my gi the 3 specialist names that was given on previous post on questions on celiac. I pray its not on deaf door.
